the greatest comfort is that this is what his championship feels like. unearned, stale, fraud, gifted. this is the legacy he will carry with him, this is the stain on his wdc for the rest of his life. he has to live with this wdc being his because he was gifted a position after a bad pit stop, after begging and pleading and whining on the radio. people booing him because he never deserved it. and max looming over it all as the absolute best this season. this is what he has to live with. that’s his legacy and coming to think of it? it’s exactly what he deserves. congratulations.

we often joke about the lack of personal space between them all through the movie but they end bound together so closely not a single thread of light comes between them. jyn doesn't have to be here. she's not injured, she can walk, she's the one who carried cassian to the shore, as far from the fighting around them as they could get on foot. cassian's back is broken and he can't stand up without some help by this point. she could have bailed and tried to find a shuttle off-planet on her own. she didn't. she didn't even consider it. maybe she would have found an exit in time, probably not, but she doesn't leave him. she's here, at the end of all things. they struck a fatal blow to the empire even if it cost them both everything. she's six inches shorter than him and holding him up and they're clinging so closely their faces are pressed together in their last moments. no wonder they left the impact they did. what death star?

george & max pals in post quali press con, then *REDACTED CRIMES* occur in the stewards room. max wins the race and takes the time in the post race press con (which george is Not present for, something gp DID point out in his congrats radio to max) to call george a whiny 2-faced snake. SMASH CUT to one week later and you have george crying on camera saying max is the son of the devil. the whole time toto is texting the journalists saying 'this is GEORGE'S opinion, NOT mine'. grid goes to dinner together. george refuses to sit next to max. tensions could not be higher. everyone waiting with bated breath to see what will happen next.
