Unpopular opinion: asking to pet strangers dogs is very rude because very few dogs enjoy being pet by strangers and puts people who have dogs you cannot pet in an uncomfortable situation, as well contributes to the culture of people thinking they can just pet cute looking dogs without asking at all.
