BOOK 280 Dresses. Art Performance.
Let me tell you about my art project 280 dresses. I wanted to make a long term commitment to my art. To be creative every single day for long period of time. I got the idea to live in the performance for a whole nine months, so I started with on the 1st of March 2015 with only 35 dresses and I needed 280.
I trusted the universe to send me more dresses so I could continue for the 280 day´s. I opened a Facebook site 280 Dresses/day´s 40 weeks, nine months. I posted one photo every day, me the artist, coping with daily life in a dress. Sometimes I had problems with the snow, falling down and stuff like that. People started to follow me on FB and were looking forward to the next photo, they said :) My boyfriend Bjorn Jonsson took all the photos, he is very talented amateur photographer.
Nobody knew if I would manage to stick to the project nor if I would manage to collect the 280 dresses . Let me tell you the happy ending, I did it, I collected all the dresses I needed and Im so thankful to all the people that helped me with their generous dress donations in the name of the Art.
On September 10. 2016 I will open a private Exhibition in the Art Museum in Akureyri, Iceland. Hopefully the book about the 280. dresses in 40 weeks and nine month will be published in November. Depending on if we manage to raise the money here on Karolina fund. Check out my project here.

Impact Iceland is a conference on social entrepreneurship and social innovation, that will be held in the Grand Hotel Reykjavik on 16 September 2016. This is the first conference of its kind in Iceland.
The main purpose of Impact Iceland is to raise awareness and highlight benefits that social entrepreneurship can provide to society, as the whole concept is relatively unknown in Iceland. The conference will also feature current social innovation projects and ideas in Iceland and will focus on creating a support network to enable social entrepreneurs to prosper and thrive for society’s benefit.
Impact Iceland is a conference providing today's answers to tomorrow's challenges and it will serve as a meeting point for like-minded people from cross-sectors and cross-cultures to start something amazing - a revolutionary movement in Iceland. We encourage you - join us!

This song is about a dystopian place named Electropolis where everyone dances all the time.

Sveimur is an electro duo consisting of Icelandic musicians Guðlaugur Bragason and Ylfa Marín Haraldsdóttir. Guðlaugur creates the soundscape while Ylfa performs the vocals. We could describe the music as emotional electro with a cinematic touch.
The songs and lyrics were created in a time of self reflection resulting in a new perspective of the world.
The soundscape of Sveimur is inspired by rhythmic piano melodies expressed with the unlimited possibilities of electronica. Look up our project and support here
Brot is working on their debut album. The album will be released on cd and on a downloadable format. The band is releasing the album themselves. Brot's music can be described as powerful rock with edgy lyrics. The album will contain all original material by the band and all lyrics in icelandic.

We are a brother and sister, Danimal and Bara Heiða that are making a vinyl together with our EP's each on one side.
We've finished recording and wanted to give people the opportunity to buy the album in advance, and at the same time make it possible for us to release it.
10% of album proceeds will go to the CFC research fund, which is a rare genetic disorder that Breki, our little brother suffers from. Our mother, Anna Kristín, is a geneticist who created the fund to find a cure to the disease.

The untold story
A Documentary about two men's adventurous optimism and remarkable perseverance to fulfill their dream ... the dream to get their favorite bands to perform in their hometown.
In 1992, Black Sabbath and Jethro Tull came to perform in an Icelandic fishing village of 5,000 people. That could not end well.

Omotrack
Our names are Markús Bjarnason and Birkir Bjarnason. We are brothers and have been playing and composing music together since we were little. We were raised in Ethiopia in a small village called Omo Rat. The idea of our band's name, Omotrack, came from this small village.
The main instruments we use are electro drums, electric guitar, piano, synthesizers and brass instruments. We have received a number of suggestions to describe our music. Here are few of the suggestions: "Electro - pop", "Indie - electro" and "Lo-fi electro-rock". We are not sure which is true but we like the outcome.

The idea of our project is simple. We love making music and art, and we look forward to get feedback from listeners. We are making an album titled "Mono & Bright" and it will include nine songs. Backers will enjoy album delivery in USB sticks, but we also intend to sell and distribute our album via online streaming and / or downloading services. To each song we will create one graphic picture.

Hvassast
Hvassast úti við sjóinn is a book on the beauty of the Icelandic everyday with photographs and text by Hallgerdur Hallgrimsdottir. The work is comprised of a series of photographs and a text piece, which together evoke the quiet and forgotten beauty of the Icelandic everyday.
There is no photo of an Icelandic horse or Gullfoss in this book. For that there are other books. There is however an image of a papier-mâché rock and a wooden castle.
Lately the photo book has been making a serious comeback, or perhaps it is finding fame properly for the first time. This has happened somewhat because self publishing has become easier, largely thanks to crowd funding sites such as Karolina Fund.
The work
The photographs were made in various places around Iceland and show a familiar yet peculiar world. The text piece is a list of Icelandic weather words that I have been collecting for a while, such as hundslappadrífa (dog-paw-snowing), sori (filth) and gluggaveður (window-weather).
The book builds on my first solo exhibition which opened in Listasafn ASÍ in October of 2014. Now I aim to present the work in a new manner using the book form. By becoming a book the work acquires newfound freedom and voice. The book design is in the hands of Lóa Auðunsdóttir.
About the artist Hallgerdur Hallgrimsdottir (b. 1984) graduated from Fine Art Photography at the Glasgow School of Art in 2011. Since then she has been based in Reykjavik, making art, teaching and writing. Hallgerdur has shown her work in exhibitions around the world but this will be her first photo book. More of her work can be found on her website at hallgerdur.com
101 Austurland – Peaks
The hiking paradise East Iceland
Skúli Júlíusson has written a comprehensive guide book on hiking trails in the mountains of East Iceland. In his seven years work as a mountain guide he has found this area to be sorely badly covered in existing books on hiking and mountaineering in Iceland, particularly with regards to the richness of hiking tracks in the area.
The book includes descriptions of hiking trails to a 101 mountain tops. They are all complete with GPS coordinates and a QR code that leads to a track of the trail, when scanned. The book also includes maps and photos from the trails, most taken by the author.
The layout work is now complete and the book has been sent to the printers. It will be ready by the end of June. Whether we can afford to get it delivered remains to be seen…
My name is Harpa Einarsdottir, I graduated as a fashion designer in 2005 and I have worked on many creative projects in the past decade, but my main focus has been my brand Ziska. After working hard on building up the label for six years I lost the company to investors in 2014. I still haven’t been able to negotiate contracts on getting the company back. I took some time out to figure out if I should start again, and came to the conclusion that making clothing is a pure passion for me, so I went on and created my new brand MYRKA. Myrka Iceland is a very exciting project with new emphasis, inspired by Icelandic heritage, nature and history and now the first collection is in process. Starting from scratch is far from easy this is why I ask for your support.

The Project I set out a few goals in the beginning of the funding in that order:
1. Finish making of samples: This is almost done, but I am a perfectionist and I need more time and budget to wrap it up so I can finish the rest of the goals!
2. Photoshoot/Lookbook: Will be done, as soon as nr 1 is complete
3. Launch Website: Almost done
4. Cannes: I went to Cannes where I met many amazing contacts, buyers, manufacturers, investors, and so on.
5. MYRKA Party/pre-sale: Will be delayed
The project timing has slightly shifted; I have decided to take more time in completing the samples so that I am perfectly happy when I premiere it! The plan was to have a show in Cannes but I decided to wait until next spring and then have a grand fashion show there, that I am completely happy with, also the venue itself wasn't suitable for what Myrka stands for! The trip was a success none the less and I made contacts that will allow me to take Myrka to the next level. I known fashion PR introduced me to many interesting people; met a very well known Japanese designer, and she has promised to help me promote myself in Tokyo, I met people who have been in the industry for a long time that will help me with production, I met models and stars that I can send clothing for promotion, I met business people and investors that totally fell for me and my personal charm, haha.. But first and foremost the very best collection I have designed so far! I am not ready to share anything with you until I have completed a look book shoot, and launched the website! So now I´m crossing fingers that this funding will be a success so I can go on! I need good marketing material so I can hire a press office and get MYRKA out there in the world!

To Watch Over
you are a sleeping angel fairer than the sun the eighteen northernmost volcanic crags twenty-one falling stars
sleep just so for a hundred years and I will still be here to watch over you when the sun-ships sink
even when the bombs explode I’ll be here to watch over you and scare off spirits
and defend you tooth-and-nail sleep my angel in the night while caitiffs cold as corpses rove unconscious
sleep just so for a thousand years and see the eighteen northernmost volcanic crags twenty-one falling stars
go out and shine like you
