What's the first "big news story" you remember from when you were a kid?
It's something I love to ask mixed-aged groups sometimes because I think it's really interesting to see the responses. I've gotten answers from the Olympics of [whatever year] to Watergate to more recent stuff from my niblings.
My first news thing I remember is the OJ Simpson trial. I vaguely remember watching the news with my grandparents before that, but that's the first story I remember, in part because my second grade teacher had us go play so she could watch the verdict 😂

It's about desexualizing breasts and "female presenting nipples" and not being criminalized for our bodies if we want to go topless because it's a million damn degrees out. This was a popular growing movement that was still widely known a decade ago!
And the fact that not wearing a bra is so discouraged and stigmatized that people think the movement was about being able to go braless under your shirt in public rather than about being able to not wear a shirt at all says a lot about how far we've backslid in the past decade
Looks like there's a colony of these angular 1970 beach houses in Gleneden Beach, OR. 4bds, 4ba, 1,440sqft. Sold for $580k.

Look at the pipes on the fireplace. At first I thought it was a tree. Now, that I see more of it, I remember posting this before. The date on this photo shows 2 yrs. ago, so I wonder what it looks like now.
The wall does not go up to the ceiling and the kitchen is on the other side. Look at the big holes to pull the cabinet doors open. The stove looks like the kind you'd see in a camper.
The table is in the corner against the half wall overlooking the living room. And, there's a door to outer stairs.
This looks like a music room. The lights look like turtles.
This tub looks like a DIY with a sheet of metal as a liner. Love the stained glass window, though.
Look at all the pipes. The bath is open to the floor below, also.
These windows have great views of the beach, though.

I never would've expected a golf course. 0.43 acre lot. On one side, there's the North Lagoon and the beach is on the Pacific Ocean.

Came across this art installation, Liza Lou's Kitchen, at the Whitney Museum of American Art, NYC. It's a kitchen made of tiny glass beads, that artist Liza Lou did, taking 5 yrs. to complete, from 1991 - 1996.
