I am aggrieved that I spent the entirety of voyager feeling nothing but the liveliest impatience for chakotay as a character (and his very poorly aged attempts to flirt) only for the VERY LAST EPISODE to wheel out that dynamic of "poisoned love triangle where we're all in love with the same third person but they cant/wont permit it because of Reasons, so instead we're going to develop a weird codependent bond thats honestly stranger and worse than if we'd just all fucked a few times to get it out of our systems", which is like Crack to me, with janeway and seven, who have shitloads of chemistry the whole way through,,,

like what do you Mean janeway /endangered the fulfilment of her core motivation/ (getting the crew home), and fucked the timeline Again because without 7, it didnt matter ?! revealing that 7 married chakotay on ship does Not make that less gay! like we dont see admiral janeway toss a singular fuck towards chakotay (or really any of the other crew except 7! even workhusband tuvok doesn't get much!). visiting his grave to talk about how sad it is without his wife ? ok! woman who never moved on!

like yeah. janeway presiding and officiating over their marriage. 7 going for the person closest to janeway as possible. chakotay going for the person who janeway is most fascinated with. it REEKS of "let me bask in the reflected light of her attention on you". janeway watching, and never participating, and the act of her watching closing the circle. 7 choosing to unblock her emotions and like 2 days later dumping chakotay. because of what janeway said. because of janeway. ok!

there is an episode of Voyager, a classic filler, where Janeway tells a story of her ancestor, who lived in the year 2000 (I think) and who is incidentally also played by Kate Mulgrew. in the episode the Janeway ancestor wears reading glasses, which I assume is because Kate Mulgrew wears reading glasses and it just made sense to let her wear them in these 2000 scenes. the thing is, it would have been completely normal and sensible to have Janeway the captain of Voyager wear reading glasses. yes, it would have been too sexy for television and people would have died, but it should had been done. speaking of, nahla ake wearing reading glasses is a blessing from all gods and it is extremely funny and sad at the same time how much hate the glasses got from the anti-woke assholes
