“Yes, it’s a wonder how people can do things like this almost every day! It’s almost magical.” Edward grinned at her before gazing around the room. “Do you think anything’ll happen tonight?”

"Yes! Almost like a movie...” Katon smiles, glancing back out towards the room as she leans herself slightly against the table behind her. “If anything will happen?.. I don’t thin k so... at least, I hope not. It would be awful if something were to ruin such a night.”

“This party is incredible...” Katon couldn’t keep the wonder out of her voice as she tried; her face was akin to a child wandering into the gates of Disney World for the first time. “What a fantastic way to start the summer, wouldn’t you think??”

I don’t even know what this is that I’m eating but it’s delicious.

Man, my friends better step it up when my birthday comes around because this place is awesome. All the tiny little whatevers make me feel like a giant. This is so cool. And I would know, I am what the kids would call “cool”. —Ah, hey there fellow partygoer.

“The weird looking round things’...?

A puzzled frown tugged at her lips as she used two fingers to tentatively pick up the food in question, inspecting it with a little more scrutiny than one would possibly give to an offered refreshment.

“... What is it?”

“I wore this mask.” he motioned toward the Guy Fawkes mask in his hands. “And sure, maybe I wore it to bother her and maybe I deserve what’s coming to me. But I feel like I need to get really really drunk or stoned before I can deal with her scolding.”

“Oh...” Anther giggle manages to leave her lips as she gestured towards their surroundings. “Well... It’s pretty full, you know. There’s a chance that you won’t run into her... I can try to keep a look out for her if it helps! What is she wearing?”

“She’s tiny and blonde and very serious about this masquerade and her swans. If she catches me tonight she will probably end my life. Please help.”

“Um...” A short laugh was accompanied by the quirk of an eyebrow, as she stole a glance around them at the sea of different gowns and suits. “... Well... what did you do? Destroy her swans?”

Katon’s Masquerade Look

Hands in her pockets she walked along side Katon as she waited for a response. “That’s amazing. Well, welcome. What are you studying?” Ana understood the love of Woodsboro. It was a beautiful town, and she couldn’t imagine being anywhere else. At the question, Ana remembered the flash of the car’s headlights and felt a pang in her back. “Nothing really. I love it here. And I’ve got a few friends here. Seemed like a good place to relocate to.”

“Thank you. And I’m studying Biology currently; although I still don’t know what exactly I will do with it.” Granted, she still had time to figure out such details. “It really is a beautiful place; I think you made the correct choice.” She smiled. “Everyone here seems really welcoming so far.”

“S’cuse me,” Apology balanced as delicately on the tip of the tongue as the abashed smile is on her lips, “I, uhm, I think I got a little turned around. I moved here not to long ago and all the streets sort of…still look the same. Apple Maps is having a shit attack too – Anyway,” Index finger runs over the ridged ring of her lighter, a nervous tic. She doesn’t like talking to people very much. “Do you know which way Marmion Ave is? I thought I was supposed to go down here to get to it but, I guess not –”

“Um...” Teeth tugged at her bottom lip at the question, finger brushing against her chin as she tried to think. While she had made a point to try and remember street names - a little exercise that helped her feel more at home in an unfamiliar country while also helping her practice her English reading - but with so much going on at the end of a school year, she was coming up blank. “I’m- I’m sorry, but I can’t remember which way that is either... Maybe we can look it up on my phone?”

“I may be dumb sometimes, but at least I don’t support Trump. That’s one thing I’ve got going for me.”

“I’ve heard about how much of a bad person he is... I’m amazed that he even made it as far as he did in the primaries. It’s-- a bit frightening.”

“Professor. Ooh. As much as I like the ring to that it’s just Ms. Mulligan. I don’t have the credentials to take credit for that title. Professor Mulligan though. That’s worth some more school just for the sound of that.” Ilana corrected politely. “You know, I hope they do. I like to believe people will do the right thing eventually but… You know. They don’t always do, unfortunately.”

“Oh!-- I’m sorry. Ms. Mulligan then.“ She ducks her head a fraction in apology, fingers brushing red hair behind her ear; a small laugh escaping her lips. “How many were taken altogether? There’s absolutely no way to make those pies without them?”

“Someone stole my whipped-cream chargers… What possible use could you have with that many chargers? Oh well, guess the class won’t be making pies.”

“Someone stole them?” Surprise coated Katon’s expression, her brows furrowing as she tried to think of a reason as to why someone would be in that desperate need of chargers....

“--That’s terrible, professor. Perhaps someone will come forward and return them...?” Extremely unlikely, she knew, but there was still hope, right?

Spencer frowned, glancing down at his shirtless body. “Is it because I’m ugly?”

“Oh-- No, no; not at all! You’re very handsome!” She struggled to find the right words to use, all while keeping the others feelings in her mind. “It’s just.... Taking your clothes off won’t get you grades. You need to work hard--- I do not think any professors will give you a passing mark for getting naked.”

“All I’ve gotten is hate on this whole half-naked pizza thing, maybe it really is time to try a new technique. Okay, get this, instead of taking my shirt off, I take my pants off?”

“No, no, no!” Hands waved wildly in front of her, red tinting her cheeks  as she shook her head. “I don’t think that would work either... In fact, any sort of nudity, I’m sure, is not a good idea.”

Calen hadn’t realized that there was someone behind him, watching him trying to pick the lock of his own office. It looked bad but he sheepishly smiled at the person who had appeared behind him. “I swear, I’m not breaking in. I just lost my keys and I have some papers I need to grade in there.”

“Ah...” Brows furrowed before giggles bubbled from her lips, hoping that he wouldn’t consider her laughter to be rude. “I suppose that makes just a bit more sense... Would you like some help trying to get in?

The frown was still evident on Katon’s lips, her eyes glancing back down towards the shot in question, fingers toying with it. What could go wrong? Well-- for one, she was underaged... She glanced back up towards him, lifting the shot closer to her to steal sniff of it.

“.... Are you sure this is okay?”

Ana smiled back at the woman. “Oh, I’m Ana. It’s a pleasure to meet you, Katon.” Relieved that she had found some help from someone who wasn’t just going to laugh at her, she followed the woman. “What brings you to Woodsboro?”

“Oh... Um...” The question, however innocent, still managed to make her heart flutter; even if she knew that the fear was unjustified. There was no way anyone here could know anything about what transpired before coming to America, and she had calmed herself down considerably before looking back towards her with a smile; slowing her pace to walk alongside her. “-- School, mostly. I’ve only looked at a handful of schools in America before I went and I simply fell in love with Woodsboro. It’s charming.” Katon leaves it at that , shifting the strap of her shoulder bag. “How about you?”

“If you could show me the way, I would love that.” She was feeling embarrassed enough that she couldn’t remember where she was. “I’m fairly new. I haven’t lived here very long. But I’m normally a lot better at finding places.”

"Don’t worry, sometimes it takes me a minute to remember where I’m going too.” She smiles in a friendly manner, taking a step towards her after rising from the bench, gesturing in a direction. “Follow me! -- My name is Katon.”
