The Astral Pulse has an unexpected effect on people's meta-abilities.
Namely; it causes them to Not Work.
Any ability outside the baseline norm simply fail or weakens to the point of irrelevance.
Astral and Blue never noticed for obvious reasons, but Elliot def noticed and wants the Pulse back for further research.
When the Mech Suit explodes, Robert absorbs some of the Pulse's nullifying power.
The nurses tending to Mecha Man start noticing their powers glitching out whenever they get within a few feet of the comatose hero's bed. A power specialist is called in to better understand this potential hazard - discovering that the "Normie Hero" has developed a "shield" that nullifies meta abilities that come within an arms distance. They can't determine if it's a late-blooming power, or the effect of some hidden technology, but it's certainly news to Robert when he awakens.
Robert... doesn't know what to feel about this new ability of his. He definitely suspects the Astral Pulse, which makes it even more frustrating when it's lost in the Mech's recovery.
He hopes no one else notices...
When he's hanging out with Blazer, she starts to feel drunk faster than normal. She secretly checks her amulet in case it's come loose.
Then Flambae tries to intimidate Mecha Man, only for the normie hero to douse the ex-villains flames with a glass of water like it's nothing.
When Mecha Man helps a nervous young hero with his tie, the other seems to notice something off with his presence. Namely, because the aptly-named "Waterboy" stops leaking when the mech hero is in his lap.
The Z-Team certainly notice.
Mostly Invisigal; whose power fails the moment Robert walks towards the farside of the conference room.
Later in the Breakroom, Sonar feels the Megabat in the back of his brain grow quiet for the first time outside of a high in a long time. He's confused when all he sees is the new dispatcher shoving a twinkie in his mouth.
Flambae feels cold?? What the fuck? Why does he actually fell chilly whenever Robert is nearby? Is it some weird instinctual thing? Does he know this bitch?? More info required.
The team jokes that "Robert is so normie, it rubs off onto other people".
