the second one cracks me up every time, the slow, horrified side eye to make sure that their person is still a person… I mean, they’re all great (especially the one who tackle hugs a face in concern) and all display them passing the mirror test (impressive, as I heard cats aren’t supposed to be able to do so- clearly incorrect) but the CLEARLY HORRIFIED gray and white cat looking to slowly to the side- put THAT shit in a horror movie and I’d watch it twice

The fact that some of them keep looking back and forth is what really gets me. Like, not only are they capable of looking at themselves and their owner and going “that’s us in a mirror”, but they’re also capable of thinking “that’s us, but that’s not what I’d expect my owner to look like, so one of the things I’m seeing must be wrong”.

Given how scared some of them are, I’m now also wondering if cats can experience the Uncanny Valley effect.
