I moved into my dorm at the University of Pittsburgh on the 15th! I want to be as organized as I can so here’s my first real attempt at a bujo. We shall see how well I am able to keep up with this. Dear everyone, please help spread the news of what’s happening in my country, Thailand

I know that I mostly post studyblr contents, but the situation in Thailand has been getting worse and worse. Last night (August 12, 2020), police officers were seen around the dorm of Thai democracy activists, and they were (and still are) likely to be arrested because of speaking the truth. They are safe for now (August 13, 2020), but we are not certain about the future. And there’re many more democracy activists targeted by the authority.

There have been a lot of protests calling for political changes in the past few months. But almost all of the Thai media are corrupted and told not to broadcast anything about them. I myself have only seen the news about the protests from foreign news’ Twitter accounts.

Since almost all of my followers are from many countries, I’m begging you to please spread and reblog this post about the news about the current situation in my country. Here, we can be targeted just by criticizing the government or the royal family.

It’s really hard for me to study a language. I just learned english before because “it sounds better that way” rather than analyzing what is the subject, object and other parts of the sentence. Now I really gotta pay attention and re-learn all those stuff again 😂😭 studygram

WEEK 1 // very first week of college is done! it was okay? kinda fun? but i was more excited to work on my spreads (≧◡≦) finally, there is something to write about. i just couldn’t see why i should journal on my summer vacation when all i ever did was take naps, watch films and shows, eat, and just chill. i think it’s just a waste of ink lmao. my summer isn’t just exciting as yours, guys :-( but here i am again! trying out some new stuff, what do you think?

Having been on studyblr for a while now, I’ve grown REALLY tired of:

-science worship and denigration of the humanities/social sciences/arts/liberal arts

-ppl emulating popular studyblrs instead of creating something reflective of who they are

-ppl leading with accomplishments rather than goals

-ppl essentially promoting burn outs

-people constantly writing to impress, including: a) busting out $100 words, many of which are arcane, and often which are awkwardly used, b) people speaking with authority when they lack actual authority on a subject matter, c) telling us ALL their victories and NONE of their struggles (especially when some of the details are clearly fabricated)

INSTEAD, I am so here for:

-ppl living balanced lives

-ppl sharing tricks and tips

-ppl practicing vulnerability and sharing lessons from their mistakes

-ppl sharing goals and everyone striving together

-ppl using casual language and realizing that the notion of standard English is one of fiction / ppl who are about descriptive grammar rather than prescriptive

-ppl writing to express, connect and have fun

-ppl being weird and corny and humorous and human

-cross disciplinary appreciation and pollination

@softestruler and @thingsforthat interesting! I’m beginning to suspect that the “hard science” snobbery I was seeing was just a function of indiscriminately following stemblr and sciblr tags when I first started this studyblr. I’m pretty pleased with the posts I’ve been seeing lately in terms of the posters’ openness, mutual respect, and overall vibe. I’be seems pretty healthy blend of disciplines on my dash, and I’m loving that.

I can definitely see how the aesthetic side is predominately humanities based, though I know a few scientists who are in the mix, so I’ll be sure to reblog some of their stuff when I see it.

@amberwasherelol by leading with accomplishments instead of goals I mean people primarily focusing on what they’ve done rather than what they’re working toward. I think there’s great merit in showing our journies. Focusing on accomplishments often leads to pissing contests and can feel distances. There’s something really beautifully vulnerable aboysharing our goals—the things we could potentially stumble toward or fail at. To my mind, that shift keeps us present and more authentic.

Of course, I’m happy to hear about accomplishments, too. I love celebrating everyone’s victories, but even more so, I like learning about what y’all are currently doing, and what you’re striving for.
