I feel like we're sleeping on the fact that the Player canonically has a dog.

Everyone writes these Not-A-Game AUs to show Joshua Freeman all the love, but we could be getting canon-compliant fics in which the Player struggles with balancing his life in the game and his need to care for his dog. Or him talking to the AIs about his dog. Or the AIs meeting the dog. There are many possibilities here.

my prediction for how log being both xar and darnold will work is that xar will sample an experimental drink that will explode him moments before darnold greets the group. and then after they leave the lab, xar will reappear and say “i had an idea where someone drank an expired cheerwine so NASTY they DIED… luckily i always check the expiry date, so this would never happen…” or smth like that
