Wait wait wait. If some Japanese people can't pronounce l then is L "err" and Light "Right" ?????

Its not that it CANT be pronounced its that the Japanese ra-gyo sounds are like the mix of the English l and r, but its actually (imo) closer to the L in words like “Latte”

So in many cases since Japanese only has this people will confuse r and l when writing in English. Or when writing Japanese in alfabet characters.

Also the English L sound more backwards in the throat so when people try to mimic that in speaking, it can sound like R sound to english speakers?

You can see it sometimes around Tokyo and other cities, where the mistake can happen on signs.
