as someone who could only cling to works made my strangers online as my world falls apart...i can attest to this. that piece of art you thought nobody saw? someone did. that piece of writing you thought was going to be buried forever? someone saved it. that song snippet you thought got forgotten as the hitmakers released chart-toppers one after the other? someone listened to it, got touched by it, got held by it.

that little thing you said, posted, shared, and liked? someone got saved by it.

"why does writing take so long" because 60% of it is coming up with a sentence, realizing that sentence doesn't work the way you want it to, and staring at a wall

The other 40% is playing the whole thing in your head, exactly as you would want it to be, imagining how cool it would look animated or who you would cast to play each role, realize you've been doing that the last hour or so and immediately forget every cool line you thought of. All of this is done while staring at the same wall OP mentioned.

there are almost NO reblog chains!! the majority of reblogs are directly from me, and then it just. ends. the like to reblog ratio is almost 1:4.

Also works for most of those news sites like WSJ or NYT that only let you read a little bit, or block adblockers. Also some disable the scroll bar but if you go to the right side of the console after hitting F12 and look for the CSS element “overflow” and change it from “hidden” to “visible” then you can continue scrolling for free. Might have to click around on different parts of the page to find it, but it should work.
