9 times out of 10 whenever someone cites something as being “evidence of Palestine’s existence the Zionists don’t want you to know about!”—-generally something with “Palestine” in its name that dates to the Mandate period—the thing was created by someone with a name like Shmuel Rosenblatt who was a passionate Zionist, and if it exists today it has a Hebrew name that it is now more commonly known by. Honestly, the only exceptions I can recall are British Mandate institutions (which usually had a Hebrew name which included “Eretz Yisrael” or its acronym) and the Palestinian newspaper “Filastin”
Some of you are like "I'm fine with Jews just so long as they don't live in communities too large or have too much money or build community infrastructure or hold any political power or or or"
Something is very wrong at Eurovision.
How can a country that garners nothing but loud boos and protest every time they’re on screen, whose point announcements were met with a chorus of deep angry shouting, and who is shown pure derision and scorn in most every Eurovision-centric space still be getting such high numbers?
Why is it that every year we don’t root for our favorites, we root for anyone but Israel and we sit not excited for a new winner but terrified that they’ll steal the competition?
How long can this continue?
1. Glad we agree about aomething
2. A loud angry minority can seem like a majority. But there are a lot of people who like israel, and a lot of people who vote based on the music - y'know, like in a song contest that's about artists... pretty sure that DARA herself said she is there for the music not politics.
3. You literally don't have to do that. That's *your* choice to make yourself miserable and have some bizzare strategy instead of enjoying the contest. Other people vote for whoever they like and enjoy it. You do things that will obviously leave you feeling anxious and then complain when you have the choice to have fun instead. In fact, you have many choices. You don't have to watch it at all if you find the notion of any competitor winning to be distressing to you.
4. It will continue as long as you let your obsession with israel take over your life... you can continue to pretend that this one country is sucking joy out of your life, but the truth is that's a choice that *you* made (perhaps subconsciously).
In 2022 Russia was banned because some countries said they would have withdrawn from the contest if they were allowed to participate. The tension of having an invading country in the contest was avoided.
We now have Israel which is doing far worse things, the result is:
More and more Eurovision fans withdrawing from watching the contest and enjoying it because they are allowed to participate
Countries actually leaving the contest! FIVE OF THEM, one of the big 5 too. They didn't just threaten to do it, they actually left
The EBU attempting to contain the fact that Israel is trying everything to win, even cheating (let's not forget all the promo videos made by the Israeli advertising agency, run by the government, which is illegal and against the rules of the contest)
Israel being booed during their song every damn time, and the EBU censoring that last year
The motto of the contest being almost like a mockery and a joke at this point, "united by music" my ass
A contestant, Joost in 2024) being banned from Eurovision for allegations which apparently turned out to be fake, everything caused by the Israeli delegation, which by the way was also accused of harassment by other countries, like Ireland and Greece
Many people "decided" to feel this way and more and more will "take the same decision" next year. People are angry because the EBU did something against Russia but is doing nothing against Israel.
I started watching Eurovision in 2012, I loved the contest, I even met irl people I met online thanks to Eurovision and artists we love and discovered thanks to this event. This is the first year I decided not to watch it because it felt wrong, because I didn't feel the excitement of the contest.
It's made to unite people despite their differences. It is supposed to bring us together, make us sing in languages we don't even know, dance, cheer for the country with the song we love. And the presence of Israel is taking everything away, because we know that if they win it will mean the end of the contest, and the show is already crumbling right in front of us.
- Russia was banned because their broadcasting union was not independent enough. Israel's broadcasting union fits the requirements. Also there is a difference between a country being involved in war (a nuanced compex sotuation that can happen to any country and which I don't intend to get into here), and one eurovision participant attacking another eurovision participant.
- yes. 5 members left. They didn't get the desired result. We don't know if they'll bother again. Do they plan to do that every year now? Regardless of whether or not there is a war? Sounds weird.
- pretty sure that it's not illegal to make promo videos, other countries did that too. The issue was that they specifically mentioned "vote 10" instead of a general call to "vote". But that would be obvious that whatever country is telling you to vote, hopes that you vote for them... it's been blown entirely out of proportion, like anything regading israel. Israel isn't trying to cheat and isn't "trying everything to win" in some shady conspiracy theory way. There's this trend of painting israel as this shady manipulative force and it's eerily similar to the "shady manipulative jews secretly control the media" trope. When israel got high scores from the juries people complained that it's rigged and unfair and should be more audience votes. Then when audience got more weight people conplained that it's rigged and unfair and demanded more power to the juries... And every year they are so baffled when israel still does well. If israel was placed 17 in the order, you'd say they rigged the competition in their favor, but when it's finland it's all good. Only israel is shady. The rest is just the usual eurovision shenanigans...
- yeah, some people booed israel. So what? Israel can be very polarising. The haters are loud but that doesn't mean other people don't love them, vote for them etc - many people do. Israel has a loyal fan base.
- the motto is the same motto. It's not a joke, it represents what the competition should be about: being united in love for music regardless of where you're from. The fact that so many people have decided to add "unless you're from this one country!" is ironic.
- don't remember what happened with joost (only that he was arrested) but the israeli competitor was literally bullied *by* the other delegations. Someone else (i think it was Baby lasagna) spoke about this at a later point.
It's not the presence of israel that is taking everything away. It's the absurd reactions people have to the mere presence of israel.
two jews seriously hurt in a stabbing attack but it's okay because the uk government swears it takes the threats on jews reaaally seriously, gosh how awful was that attack, thoughts and prayers
the president of peru says in a speech that ww2 was "partly the fault of jews because of their absolute control of german banks and commerce" but it's okay because he apologized after being called out on it and surely no harm is done when a leader of a country spreads antisemitic conspiracies
the eu keeps condemning the pa for blatantly antisemitic content in its education program, for years. but also keeps actively funding the same program. but it's okay because they have no shortage of harsh and mournful words when the results of this education manifest as actual harm to human life, again and again
because the prevention of antisemitism isn't required when just sending out real super sincere apologies and sternly worded letters after the fact works juuuuust fine. and it's not like real people get hurt. in real life. right
NOAM BETTAN After Performing Michelle at the Grand Final of the 2026 Eurovision Song Contest in Vienna
not to dox myself, but i want to contextualise all these fucking posts about antisemitism i'm always rebloging.
my uni's jewish organisation has been trying for weeks to secure a safe public viewing of eurovision finale (that it held in years before) and failed. the police couldn't guarantee the safety of jewish students if they watched eurovision in public. instead it had to be held on university premises, still with police oversight.
there's a comment of a picture of a "victim card" under the instagram post about this. well. maybe stop people from harassing jewish students all year round, and you won't have to hear us whine or however you perceive our grievances.
Eurovision fans could make fun of Israel for sending songs in Hebrew, French, and English, or they could ask themselves why Israel, France, and England have the first, third, and fifth largest Jewish populations in the world, respectively. But that would require serious reckoning with Jewish history, so they never will.
poland gave israel 12 points??? I have never been so embarrassed about my country
I think you have some bigger things to be ashamed about regarding your country...
No hate just like. Be fr.

Like no one cares who even wins anymore as long as they fucking dont, it shouldnt be like this
You're right, it shouldn't be like this. You're just obsessed.
You can enjoy the contest and the music and the effort all of the amazing artists are putting into it instead of obsessing over the one country you don't like. And if you can't do that, you don't have to force yourself to watch. But you choose to watch and make it all about dreadful it is for you if some country wins...
Happy Pesach wherever you are and however you sat it! Our unique cultural traditions are beautiful and worth celebrating!
I always learned "zisen kasher Pesach" sweet kosher Pesach. Might be more specific, though. This is very cool!

I just want to be clear - I love Irish people. I'm just against Irish nationalism. Irish people are great so long as they don't support the existence of Ireland. That's fascist! Ireland is a white supremicist, Celtic supremacist and Catholic supremacist theocratic ethnostate. It was born in a war in which more British people were killed than Irish people, and early in its history 40,000 Protestants were kicked out or fled. Their descendants are still refugees, and will continue to be refugees in perpetuity until the Irish state ceases to exist. Why can't there be one state in the British isles? Why do Irish Catholics need their own state that privileges Irish Catholics over other people? From the Ocean to the Sea, the British Isles will be FREE! Some people may think this is anti-Irish, but criticism of Irish nationalism is not anti-Celticism. People always say that criticism of Ireland is anti- Celtic. But why can't I criticize the Irish state?
I wish this wasn't so on-point...
(This post isn't about ireland ...)
“it was promised to (((them))) 3000 years ago”
i mean you could pretend that the only tie jews have to israel is from the bible or you could look at the bountiful amounts of evidence of jewish presence in the land of israel going back thousands of years that proves that israel is the jewish homeland, all of which is being dug up by archaeologists pretty damn frequently
you could also stop smugly parroting that racist joke because it automatically makes you a shitty person to be racist no matter how good it makes you feel
All of this, plus you could also remember that "our sacred homeland was gifted to us by our deity" is a common belief that many indigenous groups have, and making fun of it is a racist anti-indigenous colonial tactic meant to ridicule and delegitimize the relationship of indigenous peoples to their own land (and by extention their right for sovereignty and self determinition in their indigenous homeland).
The fact that such an obviously racist joke is so popular is very concerning.
