Shot some BTS for some live recording
This was shot on my sofa, with an old tile I use to roll out clay, balanced on a B&Q tool box. It would be nice to have a fancy studio but you really can still produce good work regardless
I’ve been trying out different looks for shooting earrings I also make. I’d like to do some with models next though.
Don't forget to grab your own @abitofquirk Bombshell blue bobble hat from our @depop shop - craftycats - keep warm this winter and support artists ❄️#craftycatsclub #art #bobblehat #abitofquirk #hats #bombshellblue #keziatanphoto #portraitphotography #portraits #photography #photooftheday
Some portraits testing out my new lights

The Art of Experimenting
In the last week or so i have been in the company of Ania Hobson a more than splendid figurative painter who i interviewed for an upcoming magazine - I feel quite humbled that a friend of mine put my name forward as someone who can write and who could talk about art in the context of this new cultural creation. And i have also been reconnected with the outside world i.e. i went for a damn walk! with my creative chum @keziatan (from where this reblog originates). We drove up to Dunwich Heath with Alabama Shakes vibrating out of my car speakers, occasionally drowned out by the auditory efforts of the vehicle going above 40mph. We wandered across the heathland and teased into the borders of Minsmere nature reserve, a woodland sits in between and its exposed wintry branches and harsh crunch of leaves underfoot enticed us to go beyond the roughly drawn pathways. Kezia’s eye is framed by a camera and in placing some initial shots of striking trees and naturally peculiar branches, she decided to experiment with some filming. This kind of spontaneity, in a place not well-known to either of us, is what identifies boundaries, solutions and perspectives to explore further. Kezia, in an attempt to merely capture the sounds of leaves we continuously stood upon, came away with what i think is an awesome sequence of movement, in and out of focus, combined with said sound that creates its own sense of time. Watch the rest of the film above and interpret it with your own eye. Experimenting in this way and embracing your own interpretations is guaranteed to get results no matter the conclusion.
To bring Ania back in when i met up with her, travelling to a warm studio in the depths of Suffolk, she spoke about that drive to always push forward and test yourself. This was and i believe for a long time will be confined (not meant negatively) to painting, experimenting with backgrounds, textures, human form in its realism and how that can be styled. In this context experimenting is explicitly a pathway to progression, that “idea” which is fuelled by instinct and intrinsic to humans, backed up by our history/histories.
Experimenting is something that usually requires confidence, but can be as bold as it can be subtle. It is something that ultimately creates certainty and of course is not restricted to art. I encourage you all to experiment with the life you have been given and be open to what that may lead to.
Give @adaptform a follow! He's written about my recent video better than I could ever explain it plus extras!! Also he's super cool and has great things to say.
