like he was an orphan who grew up on the streets (of iberia!) and then got adopted into some creepy seaborn cult where he saw his teacher turn a bunch of his fellow students into seaborn (which straight up killed most of them in the process) and also tried and failed to kill said teacher. and then later the inquisition killed nearly everyone else that was still left

and he just ended up like, a bit standoffish. still generally a nice guy. has friends and hobbies even

Ok but the Eridians were WILD for the mission they sent Rocky on.

Like before humanity even CONSIDERED sending folk into space we were like "ok lets see if anything can survive at all, lets see if things can get there and come back yada yada" and there were COUNTLESS space missions before we even dared as far as sending someone to the MOON for 5 minutes.

But the Eridians were like "Star not eaten by Astrophage? We go there." And sent an entire crew of their BEST SCIENTISTS and engineers on this flight, KNOWING it would take DECADES and having NO CONTACT with them for that space of time and not even knowing what R A D I A T I O N is.

Truly the "fuck it, we ball" species of all time.

I kind of miss the impulsivity that certain spaces used to allow. oh you want a hair cut today? hairdresser in the corner can fit you in before her 2 o’clock. tattoo of a cobra… sure leg or arm? even concerts, back when you could go to the box office thirty mins before any show. not saying these things don’t exist at all, but everything feels booked five months in advance and 10x more expensive
