“[I]t is actually more expensive to be poor than not poor. If you can’t afford the first month’s rent and security deposit you need in order to rent an apartment, you may get stuck in an overpriced residential motel. If you don’t have a kitchen or even a refrigerator and microwave, you will find yourself falling back on convenience store food, which — in addition to its nutritional deficits — is also alarmingly overpriced. If you need a loan, as most poor people eventually do, you will end up paying an interest rate many times more than what a more affluent borrower would be charged. To be poor — especially with children to support and care for — is a perpetual high-wire act.”
— It Is Expensive to Be Poor | The Atlantic
“Poverty charges interest ” holy hell. Ive never read$heard someone put it that way before. But its so friggen true.

Is he aware that we physically fucking can’t
? physically cant what?
Bend our ankles like that
Like what???
At steep angles! Bones fuse and prevent that if you don’t do it regularly as a kid. It’s the same reason we don’t climb trees like monkeys, whose ankles don’t have the same restrictions we do
Human ankles don’t normally work like that!
Iirc someone did an anatomical study and people of slavic descent have shallower hip sockets that allow that movement more easily as well.
Yes! This was something we talked about in my physical anthropology class, that like, some people physically cannot slav squat just because of their bones and skeletal structure.
Look until this post started going around I had no idea some people couldn’t do this???
Reblog and tag with whether you can slav squat or not.
guess who found out they have shallow hip sockets just now
This is weird bevause ive had this exact thought before
Actually it really does help to paint the picture
Ethan’s keyboard says trans rights pass it along
I say trans rights, pass it along.
working full time is terrible why do we just accept that having 8 days off a month is normal and okay........ being alive could be cool but we waste it at our JOBS.... sorry i’m just heated about capitalism again i’ll be fine
8 days....never thought about it like that 😓
This seems really whiny to me. Like, I agree with you, work sucks, but our ancestors didn’t get to browse tumblr at their desks or have the option to gleefully spend their ENTIRE WEEKENDS horizontal on the couch stuffing their faces/watching tv/playing video games/wacking off. They didn’t have weekends. They just slaved away as fucking peasants from dawn to dusk until they died in childbirth or got the consumption.
I am perfectly happy working 8 hrs a day because I don’t have to:
grow my own food
find my own clean water
heat my house
shit in the woods
Hi, I study social and cultural anthropology. Humans working 40+ hours a week is 100% an industrial revolution thing and was not normal in the early stages of our existence. In fact, hunter and gatherer societies that still exist to this day spend about 15-20 hours a week TOPS working. The rest is dedicated to sitting around and telling stories and jokes, dancing, singing, eating, sleeping, fucking and so forth. Read a damn book.
Medieval peasants lived grueling, terrible lives. But their vacation days beat out the policies now common even in progressive societies.
what is it about me sitting in my little corner of the Internet and saying “I actually don’t hate myself as an adult now and I want to be nice to people and that’s my entire thing” that makes these anons start foaming at the mouth
I’ll be perfectly honest, I’ve spent the better part of a decade wishing I weren’t fucking alive and beating depression off with a caveman’s wooden club. If I get to a point in my adult life after all that shit where I can finally say “I don’t want to see myself dead anymore, I like who I am” and you have the gall to tell me I have too much self confidence now, I’m gonna take the club I killed my depression with and I’m gonna start beating you with it
Basically,
Okay, but THIS.
My therapist only recently understood that when I said, “I don’t know how to make this phone call or make this appointment.” I very literally meant I didn’t know what to do. I can dial the phone, but what do I say EXACTLY? What questions are going to be asked? What do I need to have on hand? What if they ask me something I don’t know the answer to?
I’m one of those people that needs very specific and detailed instructions if I’m doing something for the first time.
Be patient with people. We all have our struggles. Sometimes it can make all the difference in the world knowing someone can spare a few minutes to care about you and walk you through something that’s hard for you.
If courage isn’t the absence of fear but doing the right thing regardless of it, maybe confidence isn’t the absence of insecurity but knowing you have real worth despite it
this is beautiful
By this same token, maybe goodness isn’t the absence of bad thoughts or impulses, but the conscious choice to behave according to your moral ideals in spite of them.
Can we all agree that most book to movie adaptations would improve if they were animated instead of live-action?
Most of the problems are with the sfx, stunts, and characters not matching book descriptions. Animation would solve all of this and the only reason it’s not a widely used medium for movie adaptations is cause “It’S nOt SeRiOuS eNoUgH bLeH” or “aNiMaTiOn Is FoR kIdS mYeH” like??? Fuckin make a good movie!!! Let pretentious assholes miss out on good movies!!! Fuck em!!! Just try and change my mind!
You’re right and you should say it.

yall: i support people with ADHD!! yall when an ADHD character shows any symptoms beyond uwu hyperactive: lol this character is so annoying. they should die
hey reblog this actually
don’t say you support people with ADHD if you can’t be assed to repeat yourself when they don’t hear you
don’t say you support people with ADHD if you’re going to mock them later on for being annoying
don’t say you support people with ADHD if you assume everyone with it is childish or unintelligent
don’t say you support people with ADHD if you mock them for stimming, having a hyperfixation or being forgetful
don’t say you support people with ADHD if you mock or ridicule people for the things it entails.
If I may add:
don’t say you support people with ADHD if your support begins and ends with teenagers.
Adults have ADHD too (and afab adults are often undiagnosed and untreated).
Adults have hyperfixations and audio processing issues and difficulty with memory and sensory issues.
Adults stim and experience RSD and have difficulty with punctuality because ‘time’ is not a concept our brains understand.
If you claim to support people with ADHD then mock adults as ‘cringey’ when they don’t magically stop being ADHD after they grow up, then you don’t support people with ADHD.
I cried…. living with ADHD/ADD is not fun nor easy.
If you aren’t cisgender heteroromantic heterosexual, you belong in the queer community. I’m sick of seeing this bullshit “you aren’t queer enough” sort of community policing.
And by “cisgender heteroromantic heterosexual” I mean ALL THREE of those things.
Are you a trans (binary or nonbinary) person who is attracted sexually and romantically to the opposite gender? You belong in the LGBTA+ community.
Are you a cis person who is heteroromantic asexual? You belong.
Are you a cis person who is heterosexual aromantic? You belong.
Are you a cis bisexual who is currently dating a cis member of the opposite gender? You belong.
Are you an intersex individual who otherwise is heteroromantic heterosexual? You belong.
Stop trying to alienate people based on some fucked-up “level of queerness”. There are enough problems in the LGBTA+ community without people being exclusive.
SOMEONE FINALLY SAID IT
