whatâs a high symptom you get thats not the norm?

whatâs the dumbest thing youâve been told when someone finds out youâre diabetic?
name one song thatâs you Diabetic AnthemÂ
Sometimes having diabetes absolutely fucking sucks
Me to my Pancreas....
when ur a normal person and an animal lays on u and falls asleep: ive been chosen
when a diabetic is in the same situation and their sugars are dropping: i am willing to die here
Had a guy today telling me that honey is great with helping diabetes.
For the third time I said âIâm type 1 so it would spike my blood sugar.â He goes, âoh no! Use it in some hot tea, and then check your blood, it wonât effect it!â
âNo, it would still raise my blood sugar. I donât produce any of my own insulin. I have to take insulin for everything I eat. If I didnât take any insulin and didnât eat at all I would still have high blood sugar just from hormones because I have none of my own insulin.â
It finally started sinking in and he says, âoh, you must have the bad kind.â

When youâre diabetic and see someone who uses the same tech as you
Iâm high right now and I hate how being high feels physically
but my depression is so strong and my urges to lose weight have been really intense that itâs so hard to make myself actually get up and take the insulin
I really donât care anymore, even though Iâve been relatively good at diabetes management through all of this, and that kinda scares me
Nobody realizes that some people expend tremendous energy merely to be normalâŠ
When youâve been under 100 for twenty minutes already and your CGM goes off to alert you that your blood sugar is dropping:
PSA
It is 100% ok to not always be in control of your blood sugar, it is completely normal and does not make you a âbad diabeticâ.
when youâre really thirsty so you check your blood sugars but theyâre not high
What do you call your lancing device?
I usually call mine a "finger pricker" but lost my words and just called it a "stabby stick"
Ways to Deal with Diabetes
yeah okay, so you have a chronic illness because your immune system freaked out a little and destroyed some important cells.
itâs rough, but there are some things to do that can help with it:
set alarms on your phone for set injections / change overs. missing injections can make you feel rough later so try to remember them
drinking regularly might mean that you go to the toilet more, but it will help to dilute your blood if your sugars are high
make jokes! not the tasteless âiâll get 5 types of diabetes from thisâ but make good jokes like âiâm so alpha that my beta cells gave up.â joking about it can help
find some friends who can relate. if you stick around in the diabetic community for long enough then you should find some diabuddies to talk toÂ
