Homeless, Trans Youth!

Dear Tumblr,

I’m reaching out to you today because two of my dear friends have fallen on hard times. Unfortunately both were disowned by their family for being members of the LGBTQ+ community. One being homosexual while the other is trans. After their father passed away the two fell into debt following the burial, funeral and future back rent from the eviction. They’ve been struggling to make ends meet and were evicted from the home their father had bought after their mother’s death in, are currently homeless and are trying to get out of it. I’ve taken this journey with them and know they’ve been trying their best. For the past 2 years, they’ve been trying to get an apartment with no avail. And now to make matters worse, one of them lost their job due to discrimination of their gender identity, leaving them with even less support. These two are some of the kindest and most amazing people I know, and it breaks my heart to see them struggling like this.

I know that Tumblr is a supportive community, and I’m hoping that we can come together to help these two incredible individuals get back on their feet. Any contribution, no matter how small, will go towards helping them find a new home, and get the basic necessities they need to survive.

As previously mentioned, a friend of mine and his sister were currently homeless and staying in a motel. While both of them were working, the hotel’s prices were going up and they were struggling to stay afloat. To make matters worth, they’ve now caught COVID. And are taking time off work that they can’t afford to take! If we can’t find them help, they’re going to end up on the street again and lose their jobs.  Their family refuses to help because the older brother is gay and the family accused him of manipulating his younger sister into being trans. I’m telling you elephants are chill motherfuckers. They fucking love being helpful. They once defended a man with heatstroke from a truck that came to rescue him. They knew he was sick, laying against a tree for shade. They were watching over him and petting him, and they threatened to charge the vehicle for coming towards him. Another person passed out, and elephants cried over her and buried her body in a traditional elephant funeral. (Piling branches on her). And were quite spooked when she got up later. And an elephant was helping workers to put logs in holes for a wall. On one hole, the elephant absolutely refused to set the log in, despite being punished and goaded. Turns out there was a sleeping dog in the hole.

There are so many good elephants stories. They will even help zookeepers wash other elephants– literally, a zookeeper can be like “[Name 1], please wash [Name 2]” and he will go wash that elephant correctly. Listen guys. Not only are elephants people, but they’re largely better people than us. I’m 10000% serious.
