Country roads in Japan
this fucking guy
i been gamin’
it came to my realization that 99% of my fandom related headaches would be cured if everyone understood this
a comic i made is being sold on a shelf at my favorite cb store as of today and this post is still my biggest accomplishment of the day
This headcanon guide, if understood, would also reduce the Asks I get by about half.
Every now and then I have to sit down and paint a somewhat creepy and ethereal elemental spirit lady ~ I have no choice. It's just something I must do.
My latest cartoon for @GuardianBooks.
This is what will happen when I die if I am good.
do you ever think about shadowhand essek thelyss at 1am and how the cast asked matt during the campaign 2 wrap up if he was supposed to be a major antagonist and matt said no because he was "meant to be an antagonistic force in the world" like he was never even meant to be an antagonist, just a force, because his actual personhood was so deeply unimportant from the very beginning, and that he was invented with the sole purpose of making the world a worse place and was never supposed to matter beyond the ways in which his actions harmed others and then he saved the world not because he was a good person but because the mighty nein loved him so much that they bent the narrative around him and he became a character whose personhood mattered because they decided that it mattered and it was their love and nothing else that not only changed him but made him a person that could be changed at all and more than just an antagonistic force in the world, but an antagonist, who could grow and ultimately come to love them back and—

This is my favorite line.
I have learned so many things from this.
“Nobody’s going to want to sit on high-speed rail for fifteen hours to get from New York City to LA.”
Me. I will sit on high-speed rail for fifteen hours. I’ll sit on it for days. I’ll write and read and nap and eat and then do it all over again. I’ll stare out the windows and see America from ground level and not have to drive. I’ll see the Rockies and the deserts and cornfields and the Mississippi River and your house and yours and yours too. I’ll make up stories in my head about the small towns I see as we go along. I’ll see the states I’ve yet to see because driving or flying there is a fucking slog and expensive to boot. I’ll enjoy the ride as much as the destination. And then I’ll do it all over again to come the fuck home.
Me getting slammed with notifications on this post in particular:
:)
I used to love going to San Diego for Comic Con by train. I’d start in Chicago, take a train that would take two or three days of bimbling through lower Illinois and Texas and New Mexico and I’d get to LA and then a commuter train to San Diego. I’d meet thousands of people in San Diego and then I’d get on the train in LA and go up the coast and then head East and spend another day or two decompressing until I got off in Minneapolis St Paul. It was the best time of the year. Sometimes I’d write and sometimes I’d stare out of the window.

Amanda Palmer as a statue for a children’s book benefit at the New York Public Library.
And here’s David Hirst’s Verity, that she’s recreating.
this is incredibly awesome
What was even more awesome was that it was funded by my patrons, but also served as a book donation drive for kids’ books at the NYPL. We got hundreds of donations; it was awesome.
The child that was in my belly is now 8. :)

I hope your god has asked for your mercy. I hope youve refused to forgive him.
i love this more and more every time i see it.
I have so much love for this person. The amount of empathy it takes to have these considerations about a person you will never meet, the eloquence and conviction with which they speak, the contempt for landlords. Sometimes I see something someone writes or creates and I wish with everything in me that I could meet and talk to that person for hours about what caused them to be this kind of light in the universe. This is one of those times.
I learned a new concept
Graceful degradation is the ability of a computer, machine, electronic system or network to maintain limited functionality even when a large portion of it has been destroyed or rendered inoperative. The purpose of graceful degradation is to prevent catastrophic failure. (Tech Target, first result on the search engine)
Literal opposite of planned obsolescence. I love you graceful degradation.
Oh neat the first time I heard of the concept the guy described it to me as "catastrophic functionality".
He was talking about it in the context of designing robots that would go in and stop nuclear reactor meltdowns, something that would 100% destroy the robot, but they would be designed to keep functioning and fighting the meltdown for as long as possible. He had some designs where over 80% of the robot has died and it was functionally dragging its corpse around by its one working arm because one more minute of functionality might save thousands.
I've been having a few bad years mental health wise, and thinking about those robots a lot .
I'm in Reykjavik, at the Nordic Noir festival. I took this photo this evening as the last of the dusk was being eaten by the night.
