Stonegate High School, a roleplay

Roseboro is nothing but your average, sleepy, small town. Smack dab in the middle of North Carolina, it’s two hours from the beach, and at least twenty minutes from anything exciting. For the students of Stonegate High School, that means making your own fun — whether it’s getting high behind the bleachers at Friday’s football game or having a movie marathon sleepover with your best friend, the teenagers in Roseboro are always up to something. Sure, they’re stuck dealing with homework, crummy after-school jobs, and relationship drama, but so what? High school might not be the most exciting time in your life, but that doesn’t mean you’d trade it for the world.

Six? You must’ve had a beautiful childhood. My dad hates junk food, so I never really had sweets or any of that. No, I’m not saying that. I’m just saying it’s bizarre to give a seven year old an iPhone. If you had a guitar at six, then yeah, you’re spoiled as hell.

Wow, your dad sounds actually terrible. Or well, at least strict. My parents on the other hand gave me guitar lessons, piano lessons, voice lessons, and really, I was never big on chocolate, I was more into movie tickets and concert tickets.

That’s ac‒ Shit, way to make my concern feel somehow..less, Kir. Sorta. Relax, I don’t mean anything by it. Actually think we’re on the same page..or book, with the ‘what ifs’. Just different a chapter maybe. I dunno, I mean, Duke and your music career, Dustin and that future. I don’t have any of that, not really..not all of it. You do, though, and‒ Okay, look at your life in.. fuck, say ten years. You still gonna want to do the whole music thing? You talk about wanting to do MTV studios, looking out to see your fans outside that window. Let’s say you go to Duke, right? You do all this great stuff. If at the end of the day you think you’re still gonna be wanting to be on stage, then why not just skip all the other stuff and do that?

How can you walk away from a chance to be on stage beside Paramore or Metric or Fun.?  I mean, chemistry's great, but chemistry is always going to be there. Very few people get to be Nancy Wilson or Pat Benetar or Stevie Nicks, most of us end up like Tiffany. And if I burn out, if I end up a one-hit wonder at least I have something else to fall back on, right? But then...if i take the chance, what if we never become a one-hit wonder at all, and just end up being one of those bands that is permanently bouncing between labels trying to get signed, and never quite famous enough for people to know who we are? Not that I'm doing it for the fame, I love singing, I love performing, but I can't live on that alone.

No, that's not how it works. I get to insult me, and you get to insult you, and no line-crossing otherwise. Unless of course I ask you to do something like call me your 'pretty little whore,' or I tie you up and you can't control those under your breath frustrations while I tease you, then I guess you have permission.
