I’m certain the Vulcans were like “We get that you’re half human, so you can keep ONE emotional/human response and you can use it as much as you like.”
And Spock was like “Sass.”

Never over it. The way Zachary’s face lights up in the second pic. The way they sway together.

based on that post where your soulmate’s name is tattooed on your wrist
jim hadn’t understood the marks on his wrist as a child.
they weren’t letters. everyone else had letters on their arms, dark curves that spelled out names, the names that would mean the most to them...

hah ah ahah ha who remembers that time in the Motion Picture novelisation where Gene Roddenberry wrote that Kirk and Spock’s bond/relationship ‘meeting of minds’ was more slammin’ bammin’ passionate than pon farr cause I sure do.
My dash did a thing.
Yes, Spock, we agree.
Sexual tension? Why, whatever do you mean?
really it just strikes me sometimes that Kirk doesn’t really look very masculine in a stereotypical sense, like not like in the way that Riker seems to be y’know the whole ~ I am facial hair I am chest hair I will straddle chairs and step over them I am man~ way like no...

Jim: I’ll cover ya.
Spock: Are you certain?
Jim: Yeah, I’ve gotcha.
I love this scene so much, but sometimes I think about how it’s Spock’s first instinct to try and protect Jim. He tells Jim to be careful because while Mccoy is his friend, Jim is his whole fucking world. He so focused on ‘Jim is going into a potentially dangerous situation. Jim must come back.” Look at this little smile Jim shoots him before bones interrupts. It’s so goddamn sweet. But it’s also sort of an acknowledgement that Jim understands and appreciates why Spock is telling him to be careful because he feels the same way about Spock. I wonder, if when Spock leaves the bridge for the radiation chamber, if he thinks of how horrified Jim would be if he had the chance to say goodbye, and hates himself a little for it.
Headcanon time here.
I agree with your last statement and I think that’s why Spock stuffs his katra into McCoy’s head without so much as a “by you leave”. He takes the one chance he has of coming back to Jim in doing it. He knows it’ a long shot, that it might not work as he intend, but he and Jim has spend most their lives succeeding in long shots and so he does it.
(Honestly it’s the only near logical explanation I can find for Spock doing that.)
In addition to essentially inventing the computer, Alan Turing also broke the German Enigma Code during World War II which paved the way for the D-Day invasion. The man was a hyper-genius. I’ve read descriptions of his work by mathematical physicist Sir Roger Penrose. He’s been a hero of mine ever since.
The level of thought required to come up with the stuff he came up with is totally beyond my comprehension. I actually did not even know about his orientation until much later. He was prosecuted and ordered to undergo chemical castration. Soon thereafter, he committed suicide by eating a cyanide-laced apple.
The government forced him to take estrogen as a punishment (or “cure”?). He began to develop breasts and other side effects.
He committed suicide by biting into a cyanide laced apple. This is supposedly the inspiration for the name/logo of Apple computers.

Reblogging again because more people need to know about Turing dammit.
