Artfight card done and a remake for my old Ultrakill boys.
An art gifting game
Account link if anyone interested. I've been tidying things up and I'm honestly happy with how things came out.
A lot of text under here, mostly design thoughts over Damian and Cosmo.
When the official designs for the other archangels came out I had no idea on what to do with them.
Part of me wanted to keep them that way because "how could I had imagined how the archangels could had looked like?" and their designs are a product of that time.
Another part wanted to remake them to fit better into the universe, but I didn't knew how to do so. Thought on making them into Power's for their respective Archangels, but the main thing was. I didn't want to give up on their designs.
So I turned them into some random angels that exist somewhere in Heaven, and I'm happy with it honestly. Maybe it's due the fact that their lore can't be compromised with any big plot changes from the game.
Small confession but I since I've seen D3arLord I kinda feared that people could think I've took inspiration on him, even if I've came up with "Michael" (now Damian) since 2023-2024. This is some odd paranoia of mine, I'm aware. (someone already commented that they look similar once in other site so it kinda has a base.)
This is not something that affects me or anything, we gotta deal with it (but I still think that people should sometimes refrain from making comparisons with people's characters, this counts for every artist). I guess I just wanted to confess it, but thats part of internet, people come up with similar ideas by coincidence.
I haven't planned any big lore plot for them, maybe VB is intrigued by players in general and Diver was the one who happened to reply to that interest.
Sketchy version because I also liked it.
These were meant to come first but I really liked VB and Diver one.
Now for the design rambles:
All the enemies were made with the idea that they were or still are robloxians in a way.
Bell is inspired by the iron maiden due to shape and the possibility that there's something alive inside of it.
Operator is very much like its usual self. Wires come out from where its legs could have been.
Telefregger looks like Spongebob, just because I discovered that it used to use Bob's walking sound. It deserves to have its whimsy.
Sigil reminds me of angels, despite attempting to look holy the void taint is still present.
Cadence clothes were meant to be a mix of a dress and a suit with a touch of opera goer, not very visible but eh...
VB is still the same. Finding references for them is really hard man...
Kolóna is a pillar filled with fire.
Flesh upper part is the same, the extensions are made of bones and remains of victims attacked by it.
Springer doesn't change much. Pink bow referencing the rare sightings of it with this bow.
I didn't have anything in mind for ICBM at first, I doodled it with some military goth clothes in mind.
I structured my HC's over the lyrical ost's of the game (Find Your flame and It Doesn't End Here)
All the robloxians that end up in nullscape died at some point. And the major thing that correlates them is their greed and desire over something (e.g. material greed, a desire for a role or seeking a dream).
Diver was a Rogue in a RPG experience, due to their association to a thief group their sentence when caught was the guillotine. That's why they don't have their head.
Grappler was an experienced parkour player. But when accidentally falling into their death they didn't respawned back into their usual lobby.
Spirit was a sailor from a Pirate RPG, he aspired to be more than a mere member of the crew so he planned alongside his mates a mutiny. Unfortunately his plans were cut short, and he got sent to dive into the deep sea below.
Charger was a tryhard player from those Anime Fighting Games. Their streak of victories finally crumbled and with their pride shaken, they got left to perish on the battlefield.
Glider was an engineer from a Steampunk themed RP, she always wished to explore the skies in an airship like the nobles, but without any access to such, she built her own glider. But just like Icarus she reached too high for her own safety.
Extra stuff to train character shapes and designs for Wanted and Prisioner.
Since demo 1, I've noticed a pattern of "people who wield the swords end up hurt or dead". And despite the circumstances saying that most of the things that happen are consequences of the wielder's actions (CK overusing the icedagger or Griefer stabbing himself), everything seems to make it look like it is the Players fault.
Hatred only makes their insecurities even worse. Player feel bad about what happens, they're sorry for the ones who get hurt, even when they didn't directly hurt them. Being this silent watcher with repressed emotions sucks but that is for the sake of the mission.
I really like how In Demo 5 we have a break of the cycle of "something terrible happens with someone near the end". Cassie ends up fine when you look back and see how the other wielders ended up.
Doodles of characters I've never drawn for some reason.
Some extra ideas about Abnormalities Apartment that I had.
Maybe in this reality Mina x Player is canon? They have some potential tbh.
The last panels are sketches, I don't think I'll finish them.
Explaining this Alternative ending:
Imagine that it happens right after Mina kills Nullgrim. And instead of Player accepting it and siding with Mina, they decide to finish him and the cult by himself.
The cult got destroyed, and Player is nowhere to be found. They're still alive, carrying the immense guilt for their actions.
Extra HC about their weapons:
They seem to be made up of some sort of magic. It can shape itself depending of the wielder's needs or mood.
Player and Nullgrim use swords to fit their "heroic" roles. Mine wields a dagger, like the sacrificial ones.
In the comic, Player changes their sword to a axe, shaping it with his sheer anger.
It’s just my Nullgrim design and what I think the player looks like
I’m not the most happy with Nullgrims design but it’s good enough for now
I gave the player character the name Andy and their hair is styled to look kinda like horns
I was struggling to draw them in my normal kinda style so I just did them in a more cartoony one but I think it works
I took the reincarnation/soulmates idea from @kittsuneriyu because honestly it fits with how act 5 was (I might actually do a little comic thing of their first meeting at the apartment because the thought of Nullgrim learning someone he’s fought so many times is now literally his neighbour and then to learn they aren’t a cult leader this time is kinda funny)
Possible spoilers. I say "possible" because most of it is made up, but I'll add the cut here just in case.
I'll be honest that the story of the game is a bit confusing, if you look over is undertandable, but there's little details that kinda feel off. (Does that makes sense? Like why the cultist leader from the medieval gate looks like Player? Or what's the point of the whole mafia part?)
To find answers for myself I had this whole idea of soulmates and enemies to lover type of dynamic. And this plot is actually very fun to play with.
And yes it's the player from Project: Rusher because I love this game.
So details:
I replayed Nostalgic Hangout after it's update (rewrite technically) and it's INSANE, it's so good, like, a really good experience you should try out for real. For player design I went for a usual noob with some little additions. The strings represent the player being stuck by the plot, by us and by smiles' influence.
Escape The Banlands player was based on the thumbnail drawing of the player (the one where the characters are lined up. I believe the one leading is the player.) The player has the T6, Noli and 1x's boons on them.
Project rusher was a bit tricky to design because I barely had any references to use. I went with the color of the hit notes, the mismatched coloring pattern was the way I found to fit both colors in equal positions.
Depth Spelunking and Into The Abyss kinda follow the same idea, workers of a company.
Regretevator Passenger is a bit dull, but I followed the color palette of the shirts for sale. The idea was to add some colors via trinkets, stickers or items.
I think I already explained my version of Block tales, Abnormalities Apartment and Nullscape. I added them for fodder reasons. (btw Nullscape released an update and God. It looks amazing! Play it if you can.)
I just did this player collection again because someone "requested" (I don't think it was a request but I did it anyways) The passenger (Regretevator) and the Spelunker (Into the Abyss). And I wanted to make something related to Project: Rusher.
I really like to make references to games I've played, is always fun to see people happy by recognizing a game they like. So, if you feel like, you can send me some games you want to see from me.
I'm always open for requests. (I just can't promise doing them very quickly.)
"Youtube recommended the ep 8 of Digital Circus for me? Let's see why people find this show interesting."
And then I got dragged down into this hole.
I don't have much to say about Gangle's design, so I'll skip over to comment over Checkmates design:
Kinger and Queenie's coat (or cloak? cape?) were meant to resemble butterfly wings, since it's a motif for both of them. Their brooches appeared because I wanted something "extra" for them. (Queenie's one is obvious but Kinger's came by accident. In the end it looks cool I guess.)
Ah these two... (I'm genuinely embarrassed with that Caine one. I Just kept it because the shade looked nice. It's not even that bad idk why i'm like this.)
So, Bubble Abel design because I couldn't bring up any other cooler design for him.
I like the idea of Abel being the calm type before getting consumed by Caine, even somewhat sympathetic towards his "brother" if they managed to interact in the past.
He's less of the ringmaster act and more of a magician one.
Pressure updated and I felt like updating my design for Expendable.
And also gave that Bad End version of Exp a slight revamp.
Since I did Exp I decided to make the whole Trio.
Tourist (or Explorer) is one of those urban exploration vloggers. That's my plot for how they ended up in Doors. I Like the dull colors for them, it reminds me of the color palette of the game. The warm colors, despite it all being scary and weird it still gives some minimal amount of comfort(?)
I'm aware about the whole "Grace drama" (sucks real hard) so I decided to make my John (who's already somewhat 'unique' on it's own) into a different character. I have the right to have my own creative liberties at this situation right? (Might reference religion still but very lightly, mainly in comforting scenarios. As it should've been in most of the cases, yk?)
And many Players for the different games I've played. Some of them follow the Player depiction the game already gives to us.
Rooms, I had urban explorers in mind again, given the context the game happens in an endless apartment. I also wanted something simple to reference the game visuals.
Delusional Office, since it happens on a office, Player is dressed for such place. Coffee stains due to the in-game mechanic of drinking it for speed boost.
Dive, I used the in-game model for one of the classes.
Crashout, I used as base the game icon.
No mercy, in game Player model, the number is random.
ERROR_CODE, based on the ability icon (those figures used in exit signs). Not sure if it's visible but the clothes they use are meant to be patient robes (I think the player is a lab experiment. but im not sure)
Monster Employer, based on in-game player sprites.
I had the idea of a animation about it but I don't have time for it.
Sin took the form of the Shepherd in order to deceive Sinner. Both are in Nede, the Carnation's domain. It all kinda matches the whole lies and fake peaceful vibe Sin wanted in order to make the whole process of tainting John easier.
Just made it in order to test my brush and train some scenario.
The many flavors of John Grace because I love him.
It was meant to have John in different types of rank (the ones a Laity can fill without needing to be ordained) depending on the gamemode.
Grace is a Laity, a person like me and you. I like him this way because it creates a closer relation between character and viewer. (Priest John is cool but I feel it creates some distance because of the way we tend to see priests.)
Reprieve is the process of Confessing. It doesn't require a higher level of ordering but I like the idea of John being some sort of Deacon. He fights for himself and the others he needs to guide.
For Zen I actually had in mind the Ministers that aid the Priest with the celebrations, like the eucharistic minister. Because I feel like you need to be in "Zen state" in order to do such an important task.
Woed and Mayhem kinda follow the two variants above, someone who is filling an important role of spreading the word or assisting the ill.
Made the God and Sinner drawing with Bloody devastation in mind, and OH GOD when the goober part hits I tend to get near tears. They're so dear, I love them for their silly ways and their encouraging words.
Then there's Sin that is a complete change of tone, because something in my head snapped into "I can make this thing look very human and attractive."
However I'm not sure if that is indeed attractive for people. I got creative with the markings and the "back stamps".
And two whole pages for most of the major entities of the game.
The Carnation design is still the same one I did some time ago. I just removed the arms, making it more like a Serpent.
Slight and Heed are bound to be somewhat similar. I had a straitjacket design in mind for Slight, like how you get constricted by Addiction.
Heed has its straitjacket ripped open. I know it represents something else, but I like the idea of it being the consequences of the choices. (You have to deal with it at some point, hence the direct eye contact)
Dozer was inspired by the drawing on its document. And I initially planned to make his blue parts red.
I make a very sketchy design for all of the entities. I decided to stick with this messy humanoid look for Sorrow because it is already incomprehensible normally. And the lower part of its body was inspired by the Sorrow cosmetic in Nullscape.
Kookoo is meant to be like a sales man, drowning you in many distracting ads and offers that will eventually lead you to Sin. (and the watches on its wrists are based on the Spy Kids 4 Villan, idk if thats right but the one scene he had a bunch of watches ticking. I remember it for some reason.)
Litany was inspired by executioners, the very classic ones with hoods over their faces.
The only big thing about Ire's design is that its bottom part is meant to be like boiling blood. Like when anger makes your blood boil to the point of harsh actions.
Seesay has this cute and soft look to match its overall vibe, like how gossip is like a harmless (even fun) thing.
Mime is a mime. In the sketch I made it wear a body and some thigh highs. But I felt it was a very stereotypical view for lust (revealing clothes don't usually mean to be suggestive. Saying it to myself mostly). So I changed it for something more "tame".
This one were meant to be just a bunch of sketches but I got carried away.
Most of the entities are still the same because their forms are already humanoid enough for me.
Stem is very much like Carnation due to their correlation as deceit/lie sins.
Doppel is like my design for John Grace, but I might increment making it more twisted? Maybe.
Covet is the one I changed the most (and struggled a lot with aswell). Due to the sound it makes when about to attack I made it somewhat robot-like. And the eye motif because of envy.
I don't have much solid lore for them, It's mostly designs and some bits of ideas.
I remade my old design for Noob. I wanted a character to stand out alongside Guest666, in a way the Noob who befriended THE Guest 666 wasn't some random guy you know?
Veteran is still a Noob at heart. Despite the long amount of years inhabiting Robloxia, they're always looking for new things to experience and discover, even if they're not very good at it.
Guest 666 is a normal Guest, but due to his unlucky fate at receiving such a number as her identity, Six ended up being feared by most Robloxians. Most. such number as her identity, Six ended up being feared by most Robloxians. Most.
Veteran was a bold person and both got along surprisingly well.
Other stuff about Six:
She can talk via Scripts, usually doing so in private places in order to avoid getting even more attention than she normally gets.
Six has a very good reputation around other Guests. In the Myth He was said to come after Players who bullied Guests. I used this info to turn him into some activist for the causes of his people.
Originally I planned to have Elliot as some vigilante who fought against Hackers that acted over the experiences. I also had in mind making him have a self image trouble, having to balance his mascot persona and his real persona.
I ended up discarding both ideas because at the end, I like him as a simple guy just trying his best. And I love him for that.
The admins and oh God there's almost nothing planned for them aside from Builderman and Telamon because both are the biggest plot points.
Builderman is the twist in fate, one of the responsibles on causing a big shutdown in the future of Robloxia. His growing strict actions over the moderation were made in order to prevent this, as he believes it will happen due to a big hacker attack.
Telamon is Builderman's right hand and his very trustworthy friend. An excellent fighter with some god complexes to work on.
Doombringer is the responsible for taking care of the Banlands, despite the imponent title he's a big dork if you manage to talk with him.
Scripter got sent to the Banlands after many cases of Admin abuse (and for transferring robux right into their pockets, it was 80k i guess?). When arriving at the Banlands, Scripter expected the worst, hell like punishment. But instead found nothing. An empty void. They say the isolation is the best form of torture I guess?
But luckily for them, They managed to befriend Doombringer, now both overlook the place, even planning some upgrades there.
Brighteyes and Dueskkar are like heads of the magic department? Magic exists in Robloxia and someone needs to control how they work.
Stickmaster Luke and Clockwork are the heads of the Creative sector, I mean sometimes we can't let people get too creative... Jokes aside, they manage how creations work and how things are running in Robloxia.
The May Madness trio, I have almost zero lore for them.
These guys hack and trade, big fishes in the trade business scene. Their hacking incident was one of the final triggers to make Builderman snap and worsen the already strict moderation, thank you bozos. (/aff) (that's in lore btw, just to clarify.)
