ADHD life hacks #41,279: Vegetable Management
source tweet: X
You know shit’s bad when the IT guy behind you softly and quietly mutters “help me task manager, you’re my only hope…”
how do yall just… drink soda every day??? how do you do that?? like… that doesnt hurt?
for some of us, it’s a way of self medicating certain diseases- ADHD for example.
it is NOT at ALL that deep
screaming
some people??? use soda???? to cope???????????
certified iconic post
I have ADHD and caffeinated sodas literally help me focus….
ADHD medications are either amphetamines (like adderal and vyvanse) or methylphenidates (like ritalin or concerta). Both drugs increase the production of neurotransmitters and make neurons reabsorb them slower, which helps counteract the problem where neurons in ADHD brains reabsorb neurotransmitters too early and prevent signals from transmitting.
Caffeine gives a slight boost to the brains production of neurotransmitters, meaning that it basically functions like a weaker version of ADHD medication. But unlike meds, you don’t need a prescription to get caffeine, and it’s usually a hell of a lot cheaper. If someone has ADHD and doesn’t like coffee, then to self medicate they’ll have to get caffeine from another source. Like tea, or energy drinks, or… maybe… just possibly…… caffeinated soda. And since it has a weaker affect than proper meds, and doesn’t last nearly as long, the best results come from drinking pop throughout the day.
But as we all know being disabled is super cringey so this whole middle school bully routine was very justified, keep it up man.
It’s also good for people with chronic headaches who don’t want to keep popping pills or don’t want to take the strong kind cuz caffeine boots the effectiveness of common meds like aspirin and narrows the blood vessels in the brain which become enlarged during headaches
This post is the best way to sum up the experience of having adhd. You recognise a pattern, you say “maybe its a mental health thing,” people who have no idea what tf they are talking about tell you “you’re just over reacting”, you stop questioning it and blame yourself for “having bad habbits” until eventually somebody who DOES know what the fuck the’re talking bout gives you the confirmation and support you should have gotten forever ago.
ACTUALLY, depending on how your ADHD affects you, Mountain Dew and friends can all be powerful sedatives!
Which is great if you’re the type whose ADHD causes you insomnia or problems with falling asleep.
Sometimes I drink a can of Diet Coke right before bed.
i’ve read these sentences before but only in shit posts
@thegayestmusic I’m not OP, but I saw you wanted a link to the article! In case you haven’t gotten one yet, here it is. It’s actually an article on sleep and ADHD that touches on messed up internal clocks as a potential cause of sleep problems.
Also, for anyone interested, I also like this article, which conceptualizes ADHD time perception as more “kinesthetic” than neurotypical time perception, which is more linear:
The pictures reveal that people with ADHD perceive time not as a sequence of events the way others usually do, but as a diffuse collection of events that are viscerally connected to the people, activities, and emotions that fill them. The person with ADHD focuses intensely on all of the related details, experiencing these events with all of their interconnectedness. Slotting events into their proper place in time is a challenge.
Then there is this article about managing time blindness, taken from Russell Barkley’s book, Taking Charge of Adult ADHD. I’ve found it helpful.
And finally there is this video by Dr. Barkley that goes into more detail about exactly what time blindness is and how it affects people with ADHD.
having a “smart"phone for me is just
*opens the clock app instead of the calculator app*
*opens the calculator instead of the clock*
*opens calendar instead of either of these*
The End, by Alister Lockhart.
Bruh, if you don’t think that having historically significant events well documented from multiple perspectives is a good thing, then idk what the hell u doin.
Besides, like, that is literally a Giant Monster Rampaging Through The Town. What the fuck is the everyday person gonna do other than Tweet/Instagram/Post about it going “It’s the apocalypse you guys! Eyyyy lmao #apocalypse #deathrising #nofilter”?
#like come on your cellphone may not defeat the beast#but it can gain you like 50000 followers before the skies start raining blood so#who’s the REAL winner here? (via @purplebloodedmajesty)
And heck, even if your own death is inevitable getting information out could help save other people, even if it can’t save you. ‘Here are 20 livestreams of the giant tentacle monster including how it moves and attacks, how can we beat it?’ is way more useful than ‘an entire city got wiped off the map and things smell vaguely of calimari idk man’
reblogging for this perfection: ‘an entire city got wiped off the map and things smell vaguely of calimari idk man’
I personally would be trying to give the Great One flowers and chocolate, but I don’t fault others for watching to get a picture of something so glorious and terrible. 😍
These are photos taken by Robert Landsburg of the eruption of Mount St. Helens in 1980. He realized he would never get to safety in time, so he kept taking pictures of the ash cloud for as long as possible. Then he put the camera securely in his bag and lay down on top of it to protect it before being engulfed in the pyroclastic flow. When they found his body, the recovered the pictures were invaluable to geologists because no one had ever been able to document an eruption that close up before.
There are many more such photographs of unimaginable perspectives taken moments before death, only because of the compelling human desire to assert that we were here, this happened, this was real. It’s the most human desire there is - to reach out across time and space to connect with our fellow beings until our last breath.
That’s haunting
I fucking tear up every time I see this post because that’s it. That’s the essence of what it means to be human.
I was here. I explored. I saw this. Remember me.
Fuck
ADHD got me like *straight up doesn’t do something if my brain decides it isn’t fun or immediately gratifying*
