ok kids repeat after me
vinegar and bleach makes chlorine gas, which is highly toxic
ammonia and bleach makes chloramine, which is highly toxic
rubbing alcohol and bleach makes chloroform, which is highly toxic
hydrogen peroxide and vinegar makes peracetic/peroxyacetic acid, which can be highly corrosive
be careful about your cleaning products and dont get yourself injured or potentially killed ok
why it so dangerous to be clean
As someone who’s job is to handle chemicals like this, I need to state that this information is IMPORTANT. Plenty of people have accidentally injured or killed themselves at home because they didn’t know what kind of reaction certain substances have with one another. Play it safe and don’t mix chemicals.
Also don’t use bleach to clean up urine it’ll create chloramine bc of the ammonia in it and you can give yourself chemical pnemonia that way
Every time I see “helpful” posts telling people to mix these things while cleaning I cringe with my entire body.
reblogging in this time of heightened interest in disinfectants. please don’t get fancy
Pick one. Stick with that one.
Send me to Mars with party supplies before next august 5th
No guys you don’t understand.
The soil testing equipment on Curiosity makes a buzzing noise and the pitch of the noise changes depending on what part of an experiment Curiosity is performing, this is the way Curiosity sings to itself.
So some of the finest minds currently alive decided to take incredibly expensive important scientific equipment and mess with it until they worked out how to move in just the right way to sing Happy Birthday, then someone made a cake on Curiosity’s birthday and took it into Mission control so that a room full of brilliant scientists and engineers could throw a birthday party for a non-autonomous robot 225 million kilometres away and listen to it sing the first ever song sung on Mars*, which was Happy Birthday.
This isn’t a sad story, this a happy story about the ridiculousness of humans and the way we love things. We built a little robot and called it Curiosity and flung it into the star to go and explore places we can’t get to because it’s name is in our nature and then just because we could, we taught it how to sing.
That’s not sad, that’s awesome.
*this is different from the first song ever played on mars (Reach For The Stars by Will.I.Am) which happened the year before, singing is different from playing
This is humanity
Happy Birthday, Curiousity.
Happy birthday, Curiosity.
Happy birthday, Curiosity.
Happy birthday, Curiosity!
2026 Midterm Elections Are Coming!
Go to Ballotpedia for information on upcoming elections, including the midterms, state and local elections, who the candidates are, where they stand, and when and where to vote. You can also check your registration status, make sure you’re registered to vote, and explore options for mail-in ballots if you need them.
Here's how things are shaping up ahead of the 2026 midterms:
In the 119th Congress, the current party alignments as of August 4, 2025, are as follows: (Congress.gov)
House of Representatives: 219 Republicans (plus 3 Delegates) 212 Democrats (plus 2 Delegates and the Resident Commissioner of Puerto Rico) 4 vacant seats
Senate: 53 Republicans 45 Democrats 2 Independents (both caucus with the Democrats)
Elections to the U.S. Congress will take place on November 3, 2026. All 435 districts in the U.S. House of Representatives and 33 seats in the U.S. Senate are up for election. Five of the Senate's six non-voting members are also up for election.
Looking ahead to the 2026 general elections, Democrats need to gain a net of four seats to win a majority in the Senate. Meanwhile, Republicans can lose no more than two seats to retain a majority in the chamber. (Ballotpedia)
In the November 2025 elections, voters flipped the governorships of several states blue, as well as electing dozens of Democratic delegates and mayors in key local elections, dislodging many GOP incumbents. There was a record turnout of young voters and younger candidates for political office.
If we can do this again in 2026, we stand a SIGNIFICANT chance of not only mitigating the damage done by the current administration, but perhaps even steering things back toward recovery. It will still take a long time. A lot can happen by next November, nothing is immediate or guaranteed, and NO ONE running for office is perfect. But it's clear to see that letting things continue to slide toward the right is not an acceptable path forward if we want to retain our rights and secure a better future for those who will come after us.
So make sure you educate yourself on your state and local elections, check on your polling place and voter registration, help out with a campaign, or try running for something yourself if you're so inclined. Vote whenever and wherever you can, because every election MATTERS.

In a battle of inches, never let your opponent think they’re a ruler.
Make your voice heard!
ADDENDUM:
Look into your state and local judges as well via the state court system or sites like JudgeWatch and the Federal Judicial Center. Find out what their stances are, what their court records look like, where their money comes from, and whether they might be using their position to enable crooked business practices, ignore or abuse the law in their rulings, or support for-profit prisons.
Proper justice requires fair judgement. Just as we expect our representatives to act in the best interest of their constituents, we should expect our judges to rule fairly and with an eye to humanity and common decency.
ADDITIONAL ADDENDUM:
Check Ballotpedia for additional state ballot measures up for decision before November! There are quite a few budgeting, revisional, constitutional, and redistricting measures going around as early as this spring, so don't miss the opportunity to make your voice heard!
Also, look for local municipal elections, special elections, and primaries. Everything from district congressional reps to the sheriff to the school board are voted on by the local community, along with and every one of them MATTERS.
Ballotpedia - Local Election Coverage By State
And in between votes, don't forget to call, email, and write to your representatives. Remember - they work for US!
(I do recommend signing up for the Ballotpedia email list - it's super helpful for staying informed with upcoming elections and ballot measures, as well as information on how to register and where to vote.)
Reblog if you made good friends on internet and you wish you lived next to them.
Idk who OP is but yeah
We have this interesting situation where we basically no longer have privacy nor the expectation of privacy, but we also don't have community or meaningful connection with others, so we're all simultaneously both completely exposed and absolutely alone, and please understand that when I say this situation is "interesting", what I in fact mean is that it's "nightmarish and I wish I could wake up"
The older i get the more i understand why some people become obsessed with privacy, not because they’re hiding something, but because being constantly perceived starts to feel spiritually exhausting.
Did you know that soda machines at restaurants and movie theaters spy on you? That most common new cars now record your sexual preferences and send it to the manufacturer (and also data about anyone who also gets in your car, walks by your car, and maybe happens to be within visual range of your car)? That grocery stores are trying to force customers to download an app to scan barcodes on shelves instead of putting up prices, so the app can scan the phone, decide how much that customer should be squeezed for, and adjust the price? That more and more innocent people are being sent to jail for crimes committed hundreds of miles away because an AI facial recognition algorithm spit their faces out and the cops didn't bother to do the most basic of checks?
I am not uptight about privacy because I'm hiding something. I'm uptight about it because the people who dismiss my right to privacy are dangerous to you and me and our families, personally, all the time.
And often, they are assholes, too.
The Twilight Zone: Our episode "A Slot Machine Chases You Around Physically" was meant as a cautionary tale about the predatory nature of the gambling industry
The Gambling Industry: We've invented the slot machine that chases you around physically from The Twilight Zone episode "A Slot Machine Chases You Around Physically"
That’s a real episode, for anyone who didn’t know.

good news: any time a venus flytrap plant produces flowers, it looks really stupid ♡
I have no idea how Venus Flytraps are pollinated but I am now imagining this is designed to try to keep pollinators well away from the jaws of death.
That is in fact exactly why they're like this! (Several species of carnivorous plants do the same thing)
Oooh! Bog time! Tumblr loves a bog:
(Image from Minnesota Wildflowers)
Pitcher plants do the same thing and have really cool looking flowers!
The plant version of it's not stupid if it works.
one of my friends in a discord server was talking about how they were nervous about their first scheduled acupuncture appointment. another friend offered to do a tarot reading for them. sent this picture.
you ever read a fic so good you want to sit around and discuss it with people english class style
Its actually so important to me that Ryland Grace is a teacher. Not a professor, not someone at the top of their field teaching the smartest people, but a middle school science teacher. Of course he figured out how to communicate with an alien in under a day. His main expertise is explaining complex subjects to a group that doesnt have the vocabulary or context to fully understand them. He knows exactly how to simplify things down to its core principles without sacrificing any of the scientific logic. And he knows how to do it without having to throw around hyperspecific terminology.
Everyone say thank you to trans femmes for showing us a version of femininity born from joy and desire instead of just through coercion
Everyone say thank you to trans mascs for showing us a version of masculinity born from joy and desire instead of just through coercion
Everyone say thank you to all people outside of the cis gender binary for showing us a version of gender born from joy and desire instead of just through a simple frame work in which our oppressor have used to kill, erase, and censor us.
Thank you for showing us the existence of a history before and a future ahead.

I love you Sebago, I would die for you Sebago
Ok first I need everyone to know that the owner posted another picture of Sebago and like. She could easily be a moose for Halloween.
Also, the official Guinness World Record for tallest mule was a dude named Apollo, who was the same height but weighed in at 100lbs heavier.
