Odyssey has been back in the wild since November 24, 2023 - I initially planned to release him in spring 2023, but his flight feathers were particularly weak and brittle, so I kept him until he molted and grew a new healthy set :-)

On October 26th, 2024, I trapped a new bird named Hopscotch!! I learned a lot from working with Odyssey and was able to hunt much more successfully with Hopscotch. And also, Hopscotch was all around a much more responsive and skilled bird than Odyssey LOL. I hunted with him from November 2024 to March 2025 then released him back into the wild!

His only fault was that he attacked me all the time LOL

random but here is a recipe for cold peanut noodles that you can make during hot weather because i just ate this and had a fantastic time

2tbsp of peanut butter. a splash of rice vinegar, soy sauce, sesame oil, maple syrup. some chili flakes, some sesame seeds. a splash of water to thin it out. now you put in your noodles (cooled!!!! boiled and rinsed so they’re cold!!) and then some chopped up cucumber or carrot or avocado or cabbage or any crunchy vegetable. i just used cucumber

you can also put in lime juice or herbs or sriracha or grated garlic/ginger or anything like that; tofu/tempe/meat for more protein etc. noodle wise this can be ramen soba udon whatever, i used soba. enjoy homies

Got up yesterday at 2am and did my hour-long steep ass hike to my survey station in the RAIN, did my survey (2 hours miserable standing in the rain sopping wet), came home (hour long commute back) and had to enter all the biweek data and do QC on all my crew's data sheets which took until 5:30pm. And then I packed up and drove another 2:30h up to Washington to hang out with my friend at the crew house in White Salmon before they have to move out next week, and we went to the bar and got amazing food and stayed out until 10:45pm.

All of this to say that I slept in until 7:30 for the first time in like 2 months this morning and it's CRAZYYYY. like what do you MEAN I just got up and it's almost 8 am. What do you mean I'm still the FIRST PERSON UP??

These are unfortunately available for a more limited range of devices (Graphene is ironically Pixel only, while Lineage supports more), but it's very worth checking out whether one of them might work for your phone.

Typing this from Graphene now, in fact. But, both of those take the Android Open Source Project, without all the bloatware--and largely de-Google the whole thing. They give you much more control over privacy and what the apps you choose to install can do and access on your phone.

I know Graphene sandboxes everything, including the optionally installed Google Play Services which a lot of apps unfortunately require to run. (Lineage uses an alternative to Play Services instead.) So, you can install what would normally be unacceptably intrusive apps and just lock them away from pulling any funny shit with your data, or phoning home. Including the couple of Google things I do still keep around.

I also prefer running much more transparent, privacy-respecting open source apps where possible. Besides the transparency, I'd rather avoid the shitty tech corps entirely where I can. There are pretty good alternatives available for a lot of the usual suspects.

hello!! i am looking for some aid making it through the month once again, im a disabled trans artist who works limited part time hours due to my inability to stand for long, im doing all i can to make ends meet, but i need a little help for june with my portion of our mortgage payment as well as help with my medication expenses. im thankfully able to cover my car payment and our phone and internet expenses but our utilities and other things are going to be difficult. im trying to take on more hours at work by covering shifts when i can, but theres only so much im capable of without harming my body.
