Hey friendly reminder to love and cherish Green Day

when i went to alaska last summer, at all the parks and nature reserves and stuff there they of course had safety warnings about the wildlife.

for bears, the safety warnings were like, make noise, wave your arms, talk in a normal speaking voice, stay calm, don’t run, wait for the bear to move on which it will do 99% of the time, and you will be ok! 👍

for moose, the safety warnings were like. RUN.

ok actually would like to make it known that if you do see a moose in the wild you should NOT run but rather back away slowly. that just doesn’t as funny. but i’d rather ruin the joke and avoid causing anyone’s accidental death by moose trampling.

if you see a moose in the wild: back away slowly

if it charges you: hide being something solid like a rock or a tree

if it gets you: curl into a ball, protect your head, play dead

remember moose are herbivores that don’t want to eat you, they just want to eliminate you as a threat, so playing dead does work!

but see this ^ is what i’m talking about (and note that they do actually suggest running here). you’d expect encountering into a bear in the wild to be scarier than running into a moose, bc bears are carnivores with claws and sharp teeth. you’d think you’d be fucked. but actually, no. there’s a lot of stuff you can do to avoid a bear attack. there are options. you can kind of reason with a bear.

a moose otoh has no reason or common sense. they only know murder, stomp, charge they phones, eat hot chip, and lie
