Today had felt like it lasted years. You looked over to check the clock on the bedside table: 5 pm. Kevin should be home any minute, and you thought that perhaps you should look more presentable than you currently did, but instead you remained curled up in the bed where you had been all day, trying to subside cramps and hormones.
You heard the distant sound of a door opening and the clatter of keys hitting the counter as you shifted in bed. You used the sleeve of the oversized sweater you were wearing to wipe away the tear trail on your face, knowing it wouldnāt do much good anyways. He would notice your red eyes and faked smile as soon as he walked through the bedroom door.
As the sound of his footsteps grew nearer, you sat up in bed, covering the bottom half of your face with your sweater paws. He walked in, and of course the first thing he noticed was his sweatshirt. āAre you wearing my prized sweatshirt again? You know I endured a whole entire first day of college to get thatā¦ā As much as you wanted to laugh at his joke, you couldnāt. Suddenly the air in the room changed as he noticed your expression and lack of reaction. āBabyā¦ā he said softly, putting the rest of his things down on the floor so that he could crawl across the bed to you.
You felt the warmth of his skin press against your arm and instantly you melted into his side, the tears flowing freely now. You buried your face into his chest as he ran his fingers through your hair, trying to subside the tears. āWhatās wrong, princess? What can I do? Tell me whatās wrong and Iāll try to fix it.ā You just shook your head, unable to make words form in your throat as he continued to stroke your hair. Kevin did usually have very insightful, straightforward ways to fix your problems, and so you frequently went to him for advice. However, this problem wasnāt something that could easily be fixed.
āItās just hormones, thatās all,ā you said softly as he carefully laid you on your side. He then positioned himself to face you as he ran a hand down the side of your face, stroking your cheek with his thumb.
āI have three solutions. Hear me out.ā
The serious tone of his voice made a smile spread across your face. āPray tell.ā
He shifted, clearing his throat. āSoā¦option 1. Cuddles. My cuddles can cure anything.ā
You playfully scrunched your nose at his suggestion. āOh, really? Iāll have to see the Google reviews.ā
āI can show you later. Honestly, itās a promising option. Keep that one in the back of your head as we proceed.ā
You giggled, burying your face into his shoulder. He tilted your chin up to face him. āListen, we have to be serious here. These are serious solutions. Okay, option 2.ā He opened up his phone and pulled up the photos app, scrolling to a photo album entitled ācat memesā. āHmm? Hmm? Good, right?ā
You shook your head, giggling. āI donāt know what I expected from you.ā You sighed deeply. āAlright. Option 3?ā
āOkay,ā he said, rubbing his hands together as if he had just come up with the best idea ever. āListen. Option 3. Cuddlesā¦AND cat memes. Right?ā
You rolled your eyes, playfully smacking him on the shoulder. āThatās such a cop-out option 3.ā
āBut youāre going to take option 3, arenāt you?ā he asked, quirking a brow.
You stalled for a moment. āYes, option 3,ā you mumbled. A proud expression crossed his face as he tapped your arm, motioning for you to turn over so he could cuddle you from behind as he scrolled through his phone for you.
āI have so many memes, the best memes,ā he said in his best Trump impression.
āDo that again and Iāll kick you out, bet.ā You both giggled as he tried to steady his hand for you to see his phone screen. You tried to scroll for a solid 30 seconds but eventually all the two of you were capable of were giggle fits as he shut his phone off. You turned to face him once again, the muffled sound of you laughing against his chest filling the room.
āAlright, gimme the phone,ā you said, confiscating it from him. You situated yourselves so that he was propped up against the headboard as you laid back against him, your head on his chest. You opened the folder to be presented with an impressive collection of cat memes. You continued to swipe through, giggling each time you were presented with a new one. āThis is impressive, babe. Truly.ā
He kissed your temple, managing to keep a serious tone as he said, āAnything for you, princess.ā
You sighed, handing him his phone back and snuggling in even closer to him. āPlay with my hair and tell me Iām pretty.ā
He scoffed, which turned into a laugh as he said, āSo demanding, arenāt we?ā
āYes, but you knew this when you asked me to be your girlfriend.ā You knew that he was putting on a false front, because he loved playing with your hair and did it any chance he got.
He began to toy with a few strands, trying to form what you imagined to be a braid as you closed your eyes and relaxed into him. āMy girlfriend is the prettiest girl in the whole entire world,ā he said in a sing-song voice. āAnd Iām so lucky to have herrrrrā¦ā he continued.
āEverything just has to be a song, doesnāt it, Kevin?ā you laughed.
āOf course. Would you like me to serenade you?ā
āOh yes,ā you said, touching his arm. āI would so love that.ā And of course, if he was in any type of serious mood, you would absolutely enjoy that. But you braced yourself for what was coming.
He cleared his throat for the masterpiece that was about to take place. In a mock-soft tone, he began, āGiddy, giddy upā¦ā
You burst out into a fit of giggles, slapping him on the arm. āKevin Moon! How dare you!ā
āWhat?! I thought it was a brilliant ideaā¦ā You shut him up as your lips pressed against his. You felt his immediate reaction of shock immediately melt away as he cupped your face with his hand and closed his eyes, pressing further into you. You couldnāt keep from smiling, just thinking about how he had managed to change your mood in just a few minutes. You pressed a final kiss to his cheek and pulled away to look at him fully.
āYouāre such an idiot. But youāre my idiot.ā
āSo glad youāre willing to claim me,ā he said, brushing a strand of hair out of your face. āI love you,ā he sighed.
āI love you more,ā you said, relaxing into your side of the bed. āBut Iād love you more if you could convince the boys to do a jazzy remix of Giddy Up.ā
He burst out into laughter at the thought of it. āOf course. Iāll work on it. Just for you.ā And honestly, you imagined that he might even be half serious, but that was what it was like dating Kevin Moon, the most extra boyfriend to ever exist. But you wouldnāt have it any other way.

You feel a poking on your cheek starting and you answer with a groan. āy/nnn, wake upā. You roll over trying to escape your boyfriend, Chan, who was trying very hard to make you wake up before your alarm.
āBaabeeā he whines, no response. You think youāve won when its quiet for a minute and youāll finally get to sleep so more when you feel his lips grazing your shoulder. His arms are wrap tighter around your waist as he begins to leave little kisses on your neck, shoulder, and behind your ear, and then starts to sing a sappy romantic song to get you to finally wake up knowing that his voice is your weakness.
Begrudgingly you turned around to face him to see him beaming at you.
āHappy Birthday, loveā he said in a soft sing song voice.
You responded with a grumpy sleepy expression and pouted at him for waking you up before your alarm. He laughed when he saw you pout thinking it was so cute how grumpy you tended to be in the morning.
āIām sorry for waking you upā you interrupt him with a disbelieving glare.
āWhat itās true! I only woke you for good reasonā you quirk an eyebrow waiting for a reason good enough to wake you up before your alarm. Chan gets up with no answer before returning seconds later with a tray of breakfast he had made for you to eat in bed. A single flower in a small vase next to a delicious looking stack of chocolate chip pancakes.
How dare this boy know all my weaknesses you thought to yourself as you looked at the display in front of you.
āItās not every day that I get an excuse to shower the love of my life in affection and gifts with no protest you know. I gotta make the most of it.ā He stated as he placed the tray down in front of you giving you a kiss on the forehead. You blushed and pulled him closer to give him a real kiss.

āI know i didn't have to, i wanted toā he smiled at you cheesily as he said it.
āHow did i get so lucky to have you again?ā you asked jokingly.
āBecause your loud best friend hit on me for you after you spilled iced coffee on me on the campus quad and i thought it was cuteā
āYeah you didnāt need to remind me of when we metā you shot back dryly. Chan just chuckled as you bit off a piece of bacon and half-heartedly glared at him.
āYou're lucky its my birthday and youāre cuteā you took a bite of the pancakes before adding āand that these are deliciousā
Chan just laughed at you and gave you a quick kiss before serenading you while you continued to eat breakfast in bed relaxing a little before you had to actually get up and start your day.
