i think that while grace is out in space having his cosmic buddy comedy/romantic adventure/whatever, stratt is back on earth straight up silent hill-ing it. the world is freezing, she's driven to desperate measures, at night she sees twisted visions of grace's mangled corpse that's laden with all kinds of symbolism. 20-odd years of self-inflicted psychological torture. and then the beetles arrive with grace's video messages and she's like whew, ok, i can finally stop seeing that town in my restless dreams
