the rott ending was interesting narratively and worked as TOA was about the subversion of the chosen one troupe, it being TrollhunterS not Trollhunter and the friendship between Jim and Toby but the erasing of everything (all three shows, all six seasons) has the same impact of viewers as the ‘it was all a dream troupe’. 

Though I understand why the ending happened, as a huge fan who was very invested in these characters, with their dynamics and experiences it will always feel more bitter than sweet.

In conclusion is was a good ending but it’s just very hard to like (at least for me personally). But at the end of the day I was never going to love the end since it’s you know an end and I don’t want one of my favourite things to just stop so I’m glad it was at least a memorable one.

Maybe it’s just me, but I feel like Krel was very much under used in Rise of The Titans. Like this boy is so smart and his main job in the movie, is to pick up a sword and delivered it to Jim?!

Some of these opinions against the ending prove that some people never understood the tales of arcadia trilogy at all???

"b-but unbecoming...." umbecoming was an illusion created by merlin to manipulate jim

"b-but toby wouldn't self-isolate and self-sacrifice himself instead of accepting help" did it ever occur to you that jim's self-sabotaging behaviors are a weakness, not a strenght? did the fact that he keeps being punished by the narrative whenever he refuses to let others help him give you any sort of clue?

"b-but jim real trollhunter. others just sidekicks..." how does one hear "not Trollhunter. Trollhunters!" so many times and not realize that it was always a group effort? It was always ab collaboration, and togetherness. It was the main theme of the show! How did y'all miss it

"b-but how is it possible that jim refused the amulet? He'll end up realizing it will never be right unless he is the Trollhunter. No matter how much he wishes to give the role to someone else, he is stuck with it" tales of arcadia has always been SUBVERTING the chosen one trope. By showing that Jim can't do it alone, by showing that choosing him was chance. By showing that any good person with a big heart can fight. Besides, the whole being mad that a teenager found a way to refuse something that to him is a burden, and pass it on to someone who wants it enthusiastically, is not a good look.

"b-but will blinky be father figure to toby now?" Not necessarily, blinky would probably get attached to jim again, and aaarrrghhh to toby, it makes sense bc of their personalities. Also Blinky and Aaaarghhh have been parental figures to the gang for the entire show anyway.

"b-but strickler and nomura still evil... Janus order still evil" both strickler and nomura were obvious victims of abuse,clinging to the illusion of power bc they knew they would not be safe in the world w/o the janus order. I'm sure all it would take is knowing that they would be safe on the good side to turn. (not to mention they were never too attached to the gumm-gumm side either... They always chose the best option for their self-preservation.

"b-but if toby fat... How fight.... :(?" he literally fought by jim's side, also aja and krel's side,all the time. And jim wasn't that good at fighting at first either. Your fat phobia is talking.

Listen y'all. The movie does not negate any of the past five years. They've been wonderful and turbulent and the ending gives us something new. If this is truly the end, then, it is now our story to tell, whatever way the story is. If you see the movie as canon or not, or only parts of it, that is your choice. It has always been.

This has been a wild five years, and I am glad for the journey we have taken. Thank you, Tales of Arcadia and the creative team, for everything you have given me, for good or for ill. I will always cherish it.

I think that the big thing in the end should’ve been that Jim realized he could bring people back, not reset the fucking timeline because that’s literally worse than the “it was all a dream” twist

Folks are going crazy over ROTT's ending and I get it, I was in shock for a good ten minutes.

I have a theory that Jim is "making things right" by taking Toby's place maybe? So when the events of the film roll around, it's not Toby that dies but Jim.

I'm not completely sure about this theory, it really just kinda popped into my mind but I guess it could be a possibility right?
