Dragonkin den decorations!!
ok i thought some people might like some ideas on how to decorate their room like their cave/dragon den! i personally don’t have my room decorated like that because my family doesn’t know i’m dragonkin, but these are things i thought would be nice and i’d like them in my room! :)
crystals/rocks! cave vibes :)
hoard! if you have a hoard, keep it protected but put it on display! you could have it in an open jewellery box etc to show off your fancy lil hoard <3
seashells, for those seaside dragons :)
scented candles! pick a scent that matches your habitat (seaside, forest cave, underground, ocean etc)
suncatcher! pretty shiny stuff, catches the sunlight, you can even make your own with beads and crystals :)
photos of your habitat, kintype, bugs or animals that may leave near you, etc.
essential oil diffuser! good if you can’t have candles in your room, they smell great :) more pricey tho
salt lamp or moon lamp - adds a nice glow to your room! also pricey lol
that’s it! i tried to add budget friendly and diy options too, if i make any diys i’ll definitely show and give a tutorial! i hope this helps :)
Yes and also especially in your bedroom, your bed or 'nest' needs to match how you feel most comfortable
Dragons be like “I know a place” and then take you here
I always know a place, one of beauty that makes you wish you were in your true form again <3
Things that really bring out the dragon in me:
shiny jewelry, especially rings
cool stones
just collecting things and neatly arrenging them
sunbathing/just being in the sun
feeling the wind when riding a bike
candles, campfires, other fire related things
LIGHTERS
good meaty food
being in high places
Trying to explain to my mate why i don't want to get rid of any of my crystals or rocks in my collection. I tell him i get them because i like them, not because i have plans to resell them. If i give them away that is of my own volition, not because someone else told me to
Aurora Borealis Dragons
In Chinese mythology it’s said that the northern lights are the flames of the dragons fighting for the balance of good and evil.
Dragons be like “I know a place” and then take you here
So, I went to an occult shop the other day. I got to talking to the shop owner.
I start talking about hoodoo and he’s saying voodoo/Vodou... but that’s not what got me.
We’re nearing the end of my purchase, and our conversation. This is when he got me. He pulls out a mojo calling it a poppet.
I’m just thinking “...I’m sorry sir, but that is not a poppet.”
This brings me to a topic I’ve wanted to talk about for a while: synchronizing Hoodoo and chaos magic.
Hoodoo in America and Why White People Are Not Taught
Hoodoo comes from enslaved Africans throughout the Americas (particularly the American/Antebellum South)
Whites attempted to remove African cultural and (spiritual) identities to make a docile population that tends to their desires (slaves). African indigenous/religious worship was outlawed, families and entire generations killed or separated, while racism made it hard for progress in any other area of life.
Because of this African heritage survived by families passing on wisdom verbally and practicing in secret.
Hoodoo has no roots as a religion in America, but borrows from Christianity and Catholicism using prayers and Bible verses to empower the lives and magic of Conjure (Wo)men. Similarly, Obeah, a form of Hoodoo specific to the Caribbean, has no roots as a religion. Obeah was outlawed after 1760 because its role in slave revolts across the Caribbean. Voodoo/ Vodou, unlike Hoodoo, is an organized religion with spiritual hierarchies, ritual ceremonies, customs and practices. However, due to racism, laziness and media portrayals of African-based magic hoodoo and voodoo are often used interchangeably. Obeah was “forgotten” due to its violent history.
Hoodoo‘s past has connections to European and First Nation (Native American) magic systems from when a Conjure (wo)men worked under white witches and herbalists. In those spaces knowledge was shared. Influence from First Nation animism/herbalism is present because some Africans were also kept as slaves by Native Americans.
Simply for the racial history alone:
Mojo =/= poppet
Now we have a bit of background on hoodoo let’s get into the magic terminology and philosophy.
Magic: Hoodoo and European
Poppets are sympathetic magic which involves using/making a taglock, an object or image that looks like the target. Poppets are used to send energy to a specific person exerting an influence over their person/reality. (European)
A mojo is a talisman that is typically used to help a person to advance or attract a specific energy or outcome to them. Mojos are believed to house a spirit which needs to be ritually “birthed” and fed. (African Animism/Hoodoo)
So, again: mojo =/= poppet
Now, there is a such thing as using a voodoo doll, but, again, this is sympathetic magic which uses a taglock and a figure, made to resemble the target, to influence the persons physical/spiritual/mental/emotional state. That is not a mojo, which functions as a ritual talisman used to draw things into your life (luck, health, wealth, love, etc).
Magical Synchronicity: Hoodoo and Chaos Magick
In my understanding mojos have a similar ritual process, purpose and maintenance as a servitor.
A servitor is a being, or thoughtform, given life through ritual in which it requires a purpose, a name, a physical home, and sustenance to survive and do their intended work.
Similarly, after birthing and activating your mojo it is expected you feed it with spirits (alcohol) and oil at least once a month (preferably once a week) so it can continue to work for you.
Both a servitor and a mojo can go into the (spiritual) world to pull strings or collect knowledge and information for you. They can be used for many reasons, but can go rogue if not treated with care and respect.
Here, Hoodoo and chaos magick can come to a common ground.
You could follow the same process for creating a mojo, then enhance it by incorporating the ritual of creating a servitor. Giving the mojo: life, purpose, a name, thought form (spirit body) and even some independence in how it’s connected to you.
However, doing this removes the title from simply being a mojo/gris gris bag or servitor because the process is different, but borrows influence from both paths.
Leading me to this:
I understand appropriation is a big topic so I will say because he may not have any relationship to hoodoo the ritual process becomes something different making the mojo a “poppet” for him in his practice. Because the ritual wasn’t the same as one done by a hoodoo/conjure (wo)man it becomes a different item entirely.
I respect that. I just want it to be known that hoodoo is not voodoo and that poppets are European magic while mojos have their roots in African development in an oppressive American society.
This is a topic that can get very confusing for those starting out. There are lots of interchanging terminology, beliefs, and constructs that not everyone sees fit to agree on. This can often create misunderstandings and propagate the misuse of certian energies making navigation for newcomers more than just problematic. In this blog, I will attempt to systematize some of the complexities enough to deliver a more organized path for beginners to follow and build upon.
Keep in mind, however, that while there are some definite rules to thoughtforms there is also a well of UPG around this topic. The knowledge surrounding thoughtforms changes quite considerably with the beliefs of the individuals that practice it. So take from this blog what you will.
• 💀 • THE BASICS • 💀 •
So I bet some of you are asking, what exactly is a thoughtform? Well, that’s a being created from our beliefs and thoughts. They are made up of energy and can be utilized in magickal workings. Now there is some confusion among some members of the community here. Sometimes the term is not seen as the umbrella term it really is and instead becomes a varying type all on its own. However, to fully understand where this name fits we need only break it down in its simple meaning. "A being formed by the power of thought." This clearly describes a variety of different beings, not just a singular one, hence why it's more traditionally used as an umbrella term.
• Creation •
A thoughtform’s creation will ultimately depend on the witch but essentially most agree it starts with finding a purpose. From there you can build it up starting with a name. A name binds the thing into existence so this is most often agreed upon to be a very important step. From this most people use that name to create a sigil. Others make a symbol on their own and bind it to the name afterward. Either way, it’s often seen as an essential step in the process. A sigil gives the thoughtform a physical foundation to draw energy from and affect the real world. Some witches in turn will then place that sigil on a vessel for their thoughtform to connect to, while others draw it in the air with energy.
Finally comes the fun part, designing. You can skip this process altogether but many enjoy deciding how this being is going to look. This is also a great opportunity to build more symbolism around it. Tie its appearance to its purpose and allow this to strengthen it. Once that’s done it’s time to begin the actual ritual. Now, many like to write out everything on a petition and/or draw a picture of the being. In my experience, this isn’t really needed but it helps quite a bit if you’re doing a more complex being (this will be discussed later in another section). It’s also good to decide on the finer details. Not just what you want your thoughtform to do, but what type it is, and what it’s not allowed to do as well.
Once the written portion has been completed (and drawing if you choose to use that), set it up in a place of power. Most people use their altar but you can also create a sacred space specially for this part. The ritual itself will essentially involve you going into meditative gnosis and forming the energy with your mind. (Visualization helps with this. Some people choose to picture a light forming into the being or a large cosmic egg. But that too is based on a user's preference.) This part takes focus so make sure there aren’t any distractions nearby. Once you’re finished greet your thoughtform and continue with any other magick you wish.
As for how long this is going to take, nobody can truly say. We each are different and how our energy works will ultimately decide how long things will take. However, in my own experience, I would say that most thoughtform creations vary based on complexity. The simpler the being the shorter amount of time it will need. For longer amounts of time, you may need to visit your uncreated thoughtform once a day. giving it energy each time to ensure its continued gestation.
• Feeding •
Think of your thoughtform as a computer. It’s programmed to function a certain way by the user and to keep it going you need to give it a battery or plug it into a port. In short, it needs something to draw energy from to work properly. How you feed your thoughtform will depend on its type, but for most people, they set their thoughtform's ability to feed during its creation process. Either going to it regularly to meditatively give it energy, to offerings, or even to preprogrammed sustainability, a thoughtform needs something to ensure its success.
• Setting A Time Limit •
Certain thoughtforms will need a time limit of some sort. This is usually predetermined by the creator and set during the creation process or a kill switch is kept in place for whenever the practitioner deems it necessary. (Like burning or tearing up the paper vessel or petition with the thoughtforms sigil). Now depending on who you ask, What thoughtforms should get a time limit will inevitably change. Some believe that all thoughtforms need a limit and thus rarely venture past the simple variety. While others believe that there are many more varieties that don’t need such a limit. I will cover this in further detail in later sections.
• Involuntary Creation •
This can happen sometimes, especially if there are lots of emotions around a certain belief. Things can manifest against our will and they can be both negative or positive depending on what energy was used to create them.
• 💀 • SERVITORS • 💀 •
Also called simple thoughtforms and simple servitors, they are the most common form of thoughtform and by far the easiest to create. They have no sentience to speak of and are driven only to complete their task. The purpose for their creation. It is everything to a servitor which is why many believe it’s the type of thoughtform that MUST have an end after that task is finished. To allow a servitor to exist without a purpose would be like a living hell to such a creature. It would be cruel and compared to torture some believe.
Now let’s say you did decide to let it remain. What exactly would happen? Well, there’s a variety of things really. One, if left unfed the servitor could simply vanish one day, but it would be a slow death. However, if you’re unlucky enough, it may just evolve sentience. When this sort of thing happens in such a situation the servitor is often already driven to madness and will become something akin to a parasite. Recklessly feeding off their creator to sustain themselves. This can cause exhaustion, dizziness, clumsiness, and in some more severe cases illness to the practitioner. And those who suffer from other forms of mental illness like depression and anxiety have often reported their symptoms getting worse. The best course of action for these sorts of beings is to extinguish them completely. They have no hope of being reasoned with.
Now let’s say you do feed your servitor, but you never give it a purpose. Then what happens? Well, they can still go mad as the life without a purpose is demeaning and arduous for such a creature. This is why some people like to give them new purposes. The problem is, a simple servitor isn’t made to properly sustain things like this. It would be like uploading a new program onto an older computer that isn’t equipped to properly run it. So while it may work for a little while, it will never be up to par like it was before, and eventually, you’ll have to accept that. You’ll be forced to get a newer model anyway. Problem is, that even these beings can still grow in sentience. And while they may not be as crazed as the ones mentioned before, because they’re not in a state of starvation, they may still express the dislike of such an existence. Some people report that once sentient, some servitors have simply run away or completely withdrew in their own depressive state. Ultimately wasting away because they wouldn’t eat. This is why it’s generally agreed upon that a simple servitor works its best when a time limit is in place.
• 💀 • SENTIENT SERVITORS • 💀 •
Also called complex servitors or complex thoughtforms, consider these beings a step up from your average servitors. Most often they are created with sentience or at the very least created with the intent to obtain sentience by growing into it as they do their job and experience the world around them. This type seems to have become more popular in recent years and has garnered its own subcategories in turn. These generally tend to be something concerning their purpose and will vary by practitioner. Some of the most popular is a familiar, home guardians, or personal protectors.
For the most part these beings are created without the intent to destroy them. This is because what they are needed for what generally takes regular upkeep as well as a mind that can analyze and learn just like we do so it can grow alongside you and learn different ways to cope with its overall objective. But that isn’t to say people don’t exist that give them time limits. However, that can bring up more controversy depending on who you talk to because now you’re destroying something that may not actually want to be destroyed. Something that wants to continue on and experience existence. When a thoughtform reaches this stage and they realize you may want to destroy them, they often start looking for a way out. A way to feed without the help of the witch. That way they can simply go off on their own. In lots of cases, a witch may gift their thoughtform with this ability so that when their task is done they can go ahead and make the way out.
• 💀 • POLTERGEISTS • 💀 •
Now some of you may be surprised to see this category on this list but it really is a thoughtform. Looking into how some paranormal experts define these entities reveals that they are entities created from the negative energy accumulated in a certain place or around a certain individual, and that’s exactly what a thoughtform is. A poltergeist is always an involuntary creation, however, and is almost always negative as well. It’s known for throwing objects and making strange noises. Hence why their name means “noisy ghost” in German.
• 💀 • EGREGORES • 💀 •
These thoughtforms are created by a group of individuals instead of just a single person. They can be voluntary or involuntary, sentient or otherwise, it all depends on the conditions for their creation. For instance, some covens create an egregore for their personal group typically of the non-sentient variety, while other individual people may believe in something so much that the beings form involuntarily from that belief. Many use this way of thinking to explain how deity came to be. Declaring that all gods and goddesses as we know them are simply egregores believed into existence. Not everyone agrees with this sentiment, however, nor does everyone utilize the egregore label exactly the same.
While some say egregores can be both sentient and non-sentient, others have strong beliefs that the egregore can only be non-sentient and that once it grows to sentience it will become something else entirely. The former seems to be the most popular way of looking at it on our modern age though, so you're bound to find that this way of utilizing the egregore to be more prevalent in the ways of information.
• 💀 • GODFORMS • 💀 •
Also known as God Heads, this is probably the most confusing of all the types of thoughtforms simply because there are so many varying beliefs around it. More traditionally, godforms are statues or pictures portraying the image of a particular god. Through ritual, the god embodies these pieces and they become an extent of that deity. Some believers even associate people as being a part of that godform, and during those sacred ceremonies, the chosen individual becomes a direct speaker for the god they are channeling. However, in more modern times, the term has taken a considerable divergence into thoughtform territory.
It is believed by some that the godform is a type of deity, either created to be a god from the beginning or grown into one by an egregore. In more recent years, however, a godform is often depicted as being a more personalized entity. An individual's own personal god if you will. In this instance, they are created using a specific part of the practitioner's energy. Usually some part of a magical circuit like the elements, or the 8 circuits of consiousness. This entity in turn becomes heavily connected to the individual and will affect whatever cuircut or energy center they were made from. Let's say you made a god that draws from your fire energy. Therefore, your fire energy will grow and everything it affects will also grow. This entices the person to continue giving the god energy, through meditations, offerings, even an altar. It's given praises and prayers as well, just like any other deity.
• 💀 • TULPA • 💀 •
The tulpa is often confused in our modern times as being nothing more than a servitor, but that understanding couldn't be more false. Traditionally Tulpa's are a concept from Buddhist nirmāṇakāya. It was a translated in Tibetan as sprul-pa and was the practice of creating an autonomous entity made from the individual's mind. It was manifested by a Buddha to teach and guide those who hadn't yet attained nirvana. Some have likened it to seem much like a ghost or apparition, walking between the physical and metaphysical realms. They were said to obey their master for the most part but were entirely sentient with their own thoughts and emotions.
Today, tulpamancers, often equate a tulpa to something kind of like an imaginary friend, but one that can actually manifest things. Tulpas are said to have the ability to use their creator's body, or even dwell inside of it completely. They can even operate it on their own should their creator allow it. Many, state that the tulpa often helps them out during difficult situations. They are created with the qualities that the user doesn't have so that they can take over in times when those qualities are needed. As for life span, that will definitely depend on the individual. Like regular thoughtforms, some say that the user ultimately decides if they want their tulpa to remain or vanish after they themselves have learned to obtain whatever qualities they had placed in their tulpa. Others say that the tulpa stays with you for life. Whatever the case, this thoughtform is definitely the most unique of the bunch.
• 💀 • CONCLUSION • 💀 •
Thoughtforms are an interestingly diverse form of magick. And while they are very prevalent within the chaos magick community, many magickal practitioners from all pathways come to utilize them within their crafts. As stated above, there are many unique beliefs surrounding them, and finding out what way is best for you can seem somewhat daunting. The best thing to do is take it slow, and practice, practice, practice. Thoughtforms are one of those things you learn best by doing. Just remember that what works for someone else may not work entirely for you. Go at your own pace, and find your own rhythm. Best of luck!

I got another witchy FAQs question so I want to go ahead and share it.
This time, we're talking some basic chaos magic with different types of thoughtforms!
Please note that I am not an expert in chaos magic, nor do I consider myself a chaos magician, so feel free to (kindly) leave feedback or corrections as needed. ^^
Thoughtforms 101
Hi, guys! I just began this online grimoire, and I figured I'd make my first post.
Let's talk about Servitors.
What is a "Servitor"? A Servitor, in terms of spell work/witchcraft is a servant that was created by you. Think of it as similar to a computer program, or as a type of spirit. It's apart of you, as it's created by your mind. It's your intentions, your needs that it's serving. You're the one that brought it to life, and you're the one that keeps it alive. It relies on your energy to thrive, and function at it's fullest capabilities. Their sole purpose is to fulfill the goal that you give it, whatever it may be. I, personally, use mine for protection and revenge. You may also create them with the goal of bringing you good luck, or to bring you good health. If there's something you want attracted to your life, there's a Servitor you can make.
How would you create a Servitor?
I would like to stress, you are binding yourself to a spirit you created. This includes a contract, that you will need to be as specific as possible in. If there's something too broad for interpretation, there's an opportunity for a misunderstanding. You will also be creating and charging a sigil for this entity. I will be giving the basics, as well as adding parts that I've found helped with the creation. I will make sure to note that they are my add-ons.
What you need:
• Item of choice
• Lined paper(s)/pen or pencil - especially ones of the color that matches the intent.
• Four white candles
• Optional: Crystals, herbs, or anything you would like to use for a boost.
Before you begin anything, you need to find an item you want to use as a sort of "home" for this creation. It needs something to latch onto. As long as it's something you interact with frequently, it can be something you take everywhere, or keep at home. This can mean crystals, jewelery, I like to use stuffed animals since I cuddle them, toys if you would like to protect your children, etc. You must have it be something you frequently interact with, otherwise it will not stay "alive".
Once you have the item, and it's goal in mind, take some time, get creative and find a name for the entity. Once you have, drink a tea of choice, listen to appropriate music, this is the time to be creative and to develop the entity and contract. Take time to imagine how the entire will appear, what it's energy will feel like. Picture it standing beside you as you begin to write the contract. Be as specific as you can, include it's goals, the expectations, and rules. Describe it's appearance, and energy in the contract. Include how you plan to feed it, and keep it "alive". They need to be fed energy of sorts, or else they will "die". Include any details you feel necessary, don't leave anything out. Include a phrase to bring it's attention. At the very end, remember to include a killswitch phrase. This is only to be used when you no longer want the entity "alive" anymore. This happens if things as simple as it has completed the goal, or as complicated as something went wrong/it backfired has happened.
Optional: You may also provide the Servitor a rune, a planet, or any moon cycle correspondents that helps provide them with a boost of energy.
You will need to now create a sigil based on the name of the entity. If you need help with creating a sigil, I will happily provide sources! I like to place their sigil on the contract, and I also like to find a way to attach the sigil to the item. I also burn their sigil as I do the ritual, along with having a seperate paper with their sigil written on it for documentation. This is my way to keep a form of their presence attached to necessary parts. As I mentioned, I use stuffed animals, so I would support going as far as making two copies of the contract and sigil. One for keepsake, and sew the other inside of the item, if possible.
Once you have completed those steps, cleanse your workspace. You may do this however you wish, that process varies from everyone. Next, take the four white candles you have. Place one in each direction (North, East, South, West) as far apart as necessary. Place the item you're attaching it to, in the middle of the candles. Light them clockwise, as you set the mood/intention. Sit down next to the candles, and relax. Close your eyes, meditate as you imagine what the Servitor looks like. Focus on it, until you can feel it's presence surrounding you. I often attempt to touch the Servitor in the image. Once you've made that connection, slowly open your eyes and calmly state it's name. Begin reading off the contract out loud, as clearly as you can. Once you have finished, sign off and take in it's energy around you.
Put out the candles however you wish, put your items away, and place the Servitor where you wish!
If you ever feel like the Servitor has grown too weak, you may repeat this process, but use the already created contract and entity in mind. Think of it as a regroup.
I hope this has captured the attention of any curious person. Anyone needing to know if you can do this as a beginner: If you feel comfortable doing so, then go for it. Any questions and concerns are welcomed! Give me opinions on my first post!
Witchcraft on a budget
Because I am a student and therefore only have my monthly pocket money to get supplies I know how hard it can be / feel to get all the stuff you want for your craft. Especially when you have to, like I do, also pay bills like your phone or subscriptions. So I thought I would share my tips and tricks for witchcraft on a budget.
!!! Some actions might be not legal depending on your area please check your laws before doing some stuff discussed below !!!
1. I recommend to look for things you can take from nature for spells, wards, etc. Get to know your local plants and area!
2. NOT EVERY SPELL NEEDS TO COME IN A JAR! You can save a lot of money by not buying jars specially for spells. If you want to use jars try to reuse the jars that you would normally throw away, for example the jars some food comes in, just wash them out.
3. We all know that candles aren’t cheap, especially when you’re running through them like I do. Ask your friends and family if they have some to spare or wish for them on special occasions like birthdays etc.
Some shops sell candles with imperfections for a cheaper price. If they don’t they just throw them away, if their dumpster isn’t locked up many shops won’t bother if you take those out. In SOME countries this is completely legal, in others it’s not and you could face consequences please inform yourself beforehand
4. Incorporate witchcraft in your daily life, stir your morning coffee with intention, use the herbs your cooking with with intention to consume their magical properties, use the stuff you already have laying around, enchant your jewelry so they work as a ward
5. Use sites like z-Library to read all the witchy books your heart desires
6. Tools can be crafted! You want a pendulum? Do you have a ring (or any kind of weighted thing) and a necklace or string? There you go home made pendulum. Tarot cards can simply be cut out paper cards with the names written on them. Get creative!
7. Many crystals can be found outside like quartz, jasper, carnelian, etc. depending on where you life even more.
Please remember that you do NOT need every tool/herb/jar/etc under this sun (especially not the most high ended/ expensive ones) to be a witch! You should not define your craft by the things you buy for it and the amount of money you spend on them but rather on the energy you’re putting into it!
So shadow work is a lot more draining and difficult than I expected.
“Answer questions about yourself!” They said.
“It’ll be fun!” They said.
This is therapy with all the tears and no comfy couch to cry on
Couldn’t one argue that forced conversion is a form of colonization. I’m not trying to argue, this is a genuine question in good faith because I’m not as knowledgeable on the subject as I probably should be
The way I understand it, colonization includes religious conversion as part of its mechanisms, but religious conversion by itself can't achieve the cultural genocide involved in colonization.
Colonization involves choking another culture to death. It's not merely the act of assimilating a people into it, but also disrupting all the ways the old culture is transmitted.
Here in the United States, our indigenous nations were robbed of not just their religious practices, but also their cultural costumes, hairstyles, sacred sites, land sovereignty, rites of passage, death practices, oral traditions, languages, and even their diets. What still exists only exists in truncated and broken forms, and the systems we have in place continue to break them down.
The Old Norse societies, on the other hand, weren't really colonized because their means of transmitting culture wasn't thoroughly disrupted.
The oral traditions are alive and well. I can walk up to any Swede or Norwegian and ask about their folklore, and they'd be able to prattle off several legends or customs from their localities pertaining to heathen spirits or gods. Some of them can even tell me how something was Christianized and what it looked like before.
This isn't to say colonization was never attempted—it just didn't thrive enough to work. I hypothesize that a combination of extreme weather, difficult terrain, and the lack of Northern, Western, and Eastern major trade routes made any sort of large-scale cultural conquest of Scandinavia really difficult. The most you can really do is turn the kings Christian and send priests out to remote fuck-all locations in the fjords in hopes they can make New Religion stick with the locals. (The locals, of course, just added "Jesus" to their pile of customs, right next to "Thor.")
Yes, the Old Norse societies no longer exist, but I'd say it's because they adapted as opposed to dying out. And while many heathen customs were lost at the hand of Christian conversion, many things are also being rediscovered again thanks to the fact we live in the Age of Information.
Low Energy Witchcraft
I'm neurodivergent and i experience really intense burnout. I get to a point where I struggle to even get out of bed, take my meds, remember to drink water, let alone practice. But, when I want to practice i have a list of things i can usually do. Everyone's experiences with burn out/low energy are different so this list may not apply to you, and that's okay. Take what resonates, leave what doesn't and i hope you enjoy my silly little list :)
create a playlist and infuse it with an intention. eg, a money spell playlist filled with songs about wealth.
draw sigils with soap when in the shower. (you can also use a wet wipe if you can't shower)
found some juice? give it a little shake and use the ingredients as a spell.
have food that has grains as ingredients? wow! an abundance spell!
the classic add intention to your tea and coffee.
bind your hair. for me with is as simple as putting my hair in a ponytail.
watch a witchy video. while not technically practising witchcraft, sometimes all you need is to sit back and relax to connect with your practice.
when I have a decent amount of energy I'll grab a large pillar candle and carve sigils into it. I use it as a long-term spell; all I have to do to activate it is light the candle. I like to light one of these spell candles when I'm having a bad day.
if you're religious, pray. Even if you're lying in bed. Even if you haven't showered in a week. If it makes you happy and you can, do it
burn some insence! it smells good, you don't have to really worry about forgetting about it, it's good for cleansing. it's great!
take a nap with some crystals. any restorative crystals or calming crystals work great! just make sure that they aren't geodes or roughs. i'd hate for you to hurt yourself while sleeping.
if you don't have any crystals for your nap, set an intention instead. please let yourself rest.
It's important to remember that you're allowed to take breaks from your craft. If you're forcing yourself to practice when you have no energy because "that's what a good witch would do!" then you're probably going to make your situation worse. it's a great way to fall out of love with witchcraft. give yourself some grace. rest is infinitely more important than 1 full moon, 1 new moon, or missing your daily/weekly/monthly cleanse. You aren't a bad person if you don't pull your morning tarot card or check the astrology forecast for today. and you aren't a bad person if you miss your daily prayer. take care of yourself. your health is WAY more important than your craft. Go get a drink of water and take care of yourself <3
I personally think more witches need to include nature/natural occurrences/natural behavior of animals in their studies.
I see people asking often if xyz is a sign, if an animals behavior is due to magical reasons, and 11 out of 10 times it’s just nature being nature. Just, natural behavior. No magical or mystical reason behind it at all.
There’s nothing wrong with wanting to see the magic in everyday life, I do it everyday as well. But there is a difference between observing the magic around us and thinking a cat is trying to perform a spell.
For me I think it’s important to have a grasp on these things, so as to avoid potentially falling into a delusional place. I’ve seen it happen to others, I’m sure I’ll continue to see it.
Even things that are natural are sometimes weird. But that still doesn’t mean that it is based in the mystical. Sometimes nature just be funky! And learning to identify natural occurrences, understanding the nature of things can really go a long way to helping you identify true magical occurrences. When you’re able to identify things as just being the natural order of things, it becomes so much easier to see actual signs, actual mystical events.
Certainly, understanding the natural world doesn’t need to be at the top of your study list, however I truly believe it should be on there somewhere! And you can focus your studies on things that are relevant to you/your area. If you have a pet cat, research natural cat behavior. If you frequent the forest, research the plants, the wildlife. What’s around? What should you expect? But also remember sometimes nature is funky, but that doesn’t mean it’s based on a mystical answer.
Just observe. Observe the world around you. Observe what happens often. Observe what happens occasionally. Observe what happens rarely. Observe what happened once for you. There is magic in everything around us, there is magic in what is natural. That doesn’t mean that things are mystical though. It doesn’t mean your dog is trying to do tarot or your cat is trying to summon something.
Learn the differences and you’ll find understanding magic and the mystic to be easier.
