"Too cute," he mumbles, inhaling your scent and feeling like he's in heaven. "You're perfect."
Even in your fox form, you roll your eyes and use your paw to gently pet your boyfriend's hair. You both spend the evening being lazy. And that's when Ayato and Ayaka find the two of you.
That's right, Thoma loves ghost stories so much. But! To have a paranormal experience by himself is a little bit ... scary. Not that Thoma is scared! Ha! No, he's not scared. Not even a little bit. Yeah!

"WHO IS THAT?!"
No one. Just ... wind.
Thoma could feel a bead of sweat pouring down his back, making his spine chill. Something was definitely watching him.
"A-haha... Definitely just a dog... Hahaha... I'm being silly," he said. Then, Thoma walked faster.
Unbeknownst to him, a pair of shining yellow eyes stared at him.
The next day, the Kamisato household was busy as usual. Thoma woke up early, even though he couldn't sleep well because ... definitely not because he was afraid of the possibility of a ghost watching him while he slept. Definitely not.
So, Thoma woke up early that morning. He did his duties like making breakfast, sweeping the floor, cleaning the dust, and so on...
Then, he remembered. Today was the day a new person was arriving. Thoma didn't know who it was. It was a recommendation from Itto, his friend. But Itto said that the person was kind, so Thoma trusted him.
So, here he was, in front of the most beautiful girl he had ever met. Thoma knew he was blushing, feeling the warmth on his cheeks.
"Ahem! I'm Thoma, the Kamisato household headmaid," he introduced himself.
The girl, blushing, shyly looked at him. "I- I- I'm Y/N..." she said. Although she stuttered, her voice was the most beautiful sound that Thoma had ever heard.
"N-nice to meet you, Y/N!"
The guards nearby snorted upon hearing his cracked voice. So embarrassing...
The girl just smiled softly. Her head was always down, but sometimes she would steal glances at him.
'How cute!' Thoma thought.
After that fateful meeting, Thoma and Y/N went around the Kamisato household. He explained how to clean every room and surface, every do's and don'ts. Y/N only nodded and sometimes asked him with her gentle voice that reminded Thoma of jingling bells.
'Damn... Is this the famous 'love at first sight'?' he thought.
"Yeah. It's okay if you can't cook. I can do that," he said. Part of him wanted to show off.
"B-b-but, I want to help, Thoma-san," she said. Her cheeks turned red with shyness, but her eyes stared at him with determination.
Thoma rubbed his cheek and looked everywhere but at her. "I-if so, you can help me chop the vegetables or something!"
The angel beamed a smile at him, and Thoma almost had a heart attack.
The day went by with smiles and blushes on his cheeks. But even with a spring mood decorating his day, the dark and terrifying shadow of the night still crept through.
Thoma couldn't remember when it started, but every night, he felt someone (or something!) watching him from the dark, making his body shudder in fear. Yes, he was a strong soldier of the Kamisato clan, but still! Ghosts can't actually harm you, right?
And tonight was no different. It was safe when he went to bathe, but as soon as he was in the safety of his bed, after his mind drifted to Y/N's sweet smile, just as he was about to sleep, those invisible eyes were watching him again.
Damn.
"Not a ghost. Not a ghost. Not a ghost. Just a fox or a cat or a dog or a raccoon dog or something that definitely is not a ghost," he repeated like a mantra.
He blew out the candle and covered his whole body up to his head with a blanket. At that moment, from the corner of his eye, he saw the silhouette of a person... with tails!
You know it's wrong, but you can't help it! From the first time you met him, you were already falling in love with him. You caressed his blonde hair with your dainty fingers, reminiscing about the first time you encountered him.
It was a rainy day. You, in your white fox form, had fallen from a cliff. Cursing your evil sister, you silently shed tears. It was cold, painful, scary, and filled with sadnessāevery negative feeling you could experience. Exhausted and hungry, your feet ached, so you curled up in your tail and cried silently.
Then, you felt his presence. He had the purest soul, and you could sense it from afar. At first, you were cautious, but you were awestruck by the purity of his soul. So, you were taken aback when he reached out to touch your injured leg.
"I'm sorry. I just wanted to check on you," he said. His hand was bleeding after you clawed at it, but he wasn't angry. He continued to look at you with gentle eyes and speak in a gentle voice. And that melted your heart.
When he cradled you in his warm embrace, you couldn't help but shed a few tears.
"Ssh... It's okay, little fox. I won't hurt you. Let's get you some medicine and food," he said, and indeed, you received both medicine and food.
Thoma mumbled in his sleep, saying something about dango and hot pot. You chuckled softly. What a sweet boy. With your long, white nails, you delicately caught his long, blonde hair, feeling its smoothness. You couldn't resist leaning in and giving his hair a gentle kiss.
After contentedly watching his handsome face, you stood up and stretched, feeling your long, white hair sway with your movements.
"Let's go home! I need to go to the market today!"
And then you jumped out of the window. Mid-air, you transformed back into a white fox. You trotted back to your assigned room and made your way to your bed. You went under the blanket and curled up, still in your fox form, ready to take a nap.
Thoma's smile danced around in your thoughts before you drifted off to sleep.
