I gotta know more about nixes! How much of the folklore applies to your version? I know that they play instruments like in the Nordic myths, but do they also do things like shapeshift and lure people into the water?

Love you're work, by the way! The way you combine original siren myth with modern siren myth by making Oskar half siren and half merfolk is SO COOL!

In this story, nixes are an evolutionary cousin to merfolk and most of the typical lore about them (shapeshifting, luring people into water) are common misconceptions by humans.

Though since nix magic can vary between attack and support kind of magic, it's not impossible that some misconceptions were based on reality (i.e. bad nixies specializing in illusion or hypnosis to rob humans)

I haven't fully fleshed out what Lach's type of nix magic is but I'm thinking hypnosis (because of that one hypno joke comic with Oskar, also I had a scene in my head of the Violinist using his music to numb someone's pain)

In the 1910's, like most of the mythical creatures existing in their world, nixies have been dying out due to humans pushing them out of their habitat, discrimination, and pollution. They're typically found traveling along rivers and make a living as wandering musicians.
