“A Wailord, huh? Geez. Yeah, they’re not usually confrontational but, dang, you really don’t wanna tick ‘em off, that’s for sure.” She notes quietly. Then again, if you wanted a peaceful Hoenn visit? Stay out of the water lest you be maimed by the sealife. Or, at least, that’s the lesson May has walked away from all of this with.
At the question, however, her gaze averts to the tops of the buildings. “You could say that though, yeah. There’s this one town, Fortree? All of the houses and stuff are built into the trees! Like, uh… kinda like tree houses but way more massive. Pokemon will even try to fly in the windows if you aren’t careful, heheh.”
A laugh, a shrug, follows soon enough. “Though it’s probably worth mentioning that I’m not actually from around here. My hometown is Goldenrod, over in Johto, and I only moved here, like…. two or three years ago, I think. My dad got a work transfer so I didn’t have too much choice, really.”
They were so glad the bag was sealed for all sorts of weather because of the mess she gets into but... "This place is supposed to be a tourist destination..."
Houses in trees? How does that even work here? Trees would have to be hundreds of years old to even support a house... the logic was making her head spin, whoever lives in Fortree must have thighs of steel or very patient flying types.
"You're from Johto?" They exclaimed surprised, "I thought people normally stay in their region if they move." an eyebrow raised in curiosity as they looked at the brunette, "What kind of job does your father do that you needed to move this far out? If it's not too insensitive to ask, that is."
x--crimson replied to your post:
WAILORD IS SO MUch
Wailord should not be allowed to use the move dive I refuse.
Im still furious that wailord is an air balloon like pokemon
An event in Mauville? That wasn’t too surprising— the city was practically a hub of activity in otherwise homely Hoenn. That is to say, it’s one of the more modern and less natural locations in the region so it figures a girl like this would be headed to a place like that, really.
“We just gotta get back on route 104 and head straight for a bit. Gotta cut through Petalburg and Oldale to get there but, honestly, they’re so close together you wouldn’t even notice they were different towns.” She explains with a curt nod. Of course, this would go much faster if she had a flying Pokemon but that role was usually reserved for Latios and… well, that could cause some questions.
Most trainers didn’t get too friendly with legendary Pokemon, after all.
Sneakers scuff against the dirt path as the two finally distance themselves from the sand, May sparing a glance around before heading down the road in what was (hopefully) the way to Petalburg.
“Yikes though… ‘m almost afraid to ask what your Pokemon ended up spookin’. There’s a lot of crazy dangerous stuff here, take it from me. Er… luckily the Pokemon where we are now are pretty weak though and my team can handle ‘em no prob if we run into trouble.”
The crunching of the sand being replaced by the quiet squelch of wet shoes made Shizuko feel a lot better about being away from the beach where it all started. Luckily she had her pokemon contained inside their balls before she got swept away so they weren't lost but... she reached up and patted her own head in a somewhat sad loss of one of her hats. She'd have to buy a new one of it when she got back to Kalos.
"My Goodra ended up scaring this really big blue and white pokemon actually." Her feet moving forward as she tried to figure out what it was called, "I think it's a wail... king or something like that? No matter what it was called the pokemon was massive..." In fact, they wasn't sure she had seen one as big as it before- the closest thing Shizuko had ever seen to it's size was probably a Steelix.
There were small buildings starting to appear in the distance behind the trees as they got closer- though if you didn't know it was there or it didn't have a path she was pretty sure they'd miss it entirely. "Do you guys have a lot of towns that blend into nature around here?"
Suspicions confirmed, then. Anyone from Hoenn would know where the Professor lived, or his name at the very least, so this girl couldn’t be a native. Not that it mattered—- May herself wasn’t either and she didn’t have much room to talk about getting lost when she’s been living here two years and could hardly remember where anything was.
“Ah shucks… you don’t have to do anything like that!" She laughs a bit sheepishly, a hand rubbing at the back of her head for a short moment before she finally thinks to gesture for the other girl to follow her. "I like helpin’ people. Probably more’n I should but… hehe. That’s not a bad thing, I think."
A light hum resounds in the back of her throat as she glances over. “So what’s your deal, huh? Are you a Pokemon trainer or somethin’? Your clothes are a little weird for someone traveling… er… no offense, of course.”
"Yes well, you do know that you don't have to help me either, yet here you are doing it of no reward and I would feel very happy if I could make it up to you sometime!" In other words, they're not giving up treating the girl unless they would feel uncomfortable taking such an offer.
She blinked, "Weird for someone travelling...?" Oh, oh! "You mean because it's designer and not clothes you'd want to get dirty." They nodded at that, of course they'd look odd, probably look really warm too. "Yeah I was originally here on a trip for an event in Mauville city I think it was, my pokémon thought it'd be a good idea to try and learn a move that they're unable to and annoyed some pokemon, I got caught up in the backlash of the wave that came after that." Was it just her or was the region for holiday makers more dangerous than her own where they had a machine that could destroy the world in one go.
Now then... "Which way did you say was to Littleroot again...?"
huzzah im awake
I hope ya guys don't mind but my body is telling me to go to sleep early because of the all nighter I pulled last night- uh, Kit I have you in my drafts if that's alright for me to reply in the morn?
”All the way from Slateport?” Damn. This girl was pretty lucky she didn’t drown with that in mind. May can’t help but feel bad for the poor thing having to go through all of that; she’s had her fair share of wipe-outs just playing out on the water so she knows firsthand that the ocean isn’t always a kind mistress.
“Man… you must be beat. Lucky for you I live over in Littleroot then. Er… or my folks do. We can swing by there so you can dry up, change clothes, and take a breather. It’s just my mom there anyways and she doesn’t really care if I bring people over—-“
Not like she usually did, considering her primary residence these days was a tree but…
"Yikes! I almost forgot! Th’name’s May. It’s nice to meet you, even if the circumstances aren’t exactly stellar.” She offers with a curt nod of her head.
She wiped the hair sticking to her forehead out the way using her arm as she exhaled a breath in relief. "It's nice to meet such a kind person such as you! My name is Shizuko Mori, though I honestly cannot thank you more for helping me out May." Out of everyone in the world she could of met on a beach she happened to come across one of the few that was actually kind enough to let her into their home... despite how bad that sentence sounds in her head it's still amazing.
"Littleroot? Isn't that where your regional professor lives?" They inquired quietly, "No matter about that, if I can get out of this awful clothes and feel less like a slab of salt I'd get help from a stranger with or without their mother any day." She firmly creased her face into a determined expression, "You know I will pay you back for the mess I'm getting you into right? Treat you to a nice dinner at a restaurant or something nice later on."
Attentions perk at the unfamiliar voice, May cocking her head just enough to spare a glance at the girl that approaches her. A girl that was… soaking wet and covered in sand, to be specific. Maybe that’s not such an unusual thing in Hoenn but in clothes like that? They weren’t exactly the sort of things you’d catch locals in, much less if they were going to the beach.
"Eh…? Er… you’re just outside of Petalburg right now, actually. Keep headin’ right and you’ll get to Oldale and Littleroot. Are ya lost though? ‘m not busy so maybe I could lend a hand!"
If she had to describe what she felt like right now, it'd be their body felt like a thousand bricks because of the water clinging to every inch weighing Shizuko down. Trudging up a little, they put on a grateful if slightly tired smile.
"So I'm just outside of Petalburg...?" Muttered from her lips, "That's pretty far, I was in Slateport city last I knew." and despite knowing you aren't supposed to get help from strangers Shizuko didn't really have any other choice.
"Yes, I do appear to be quite lost from where I was. Are you sure you can help me? I really don't want to be a bother considering the mess I'm in." Last time they let a Goodra try to learn how to surf. "Do you know anywhere nearby I can at dry myself off at a minimum?" Last time ever.
Due to an awful mix of competitive pokemon trying to swim when they shouldn't and a pissed off Wailord they managed to hit that created well, a giant tidal wave- she was currently lying on the sand staring at the sky. And now Shizuko was utterly lost, unsure if she was even on the right island, she was pretty sure she could blame her pokemon for this. Quickly shuffling up and shaking her body free of most the sand, she looked around for a person to help before it landed on a figure not far from her.
"I'm sorry to bother you miss! But do you perhaps know where I am?"
I should really make starters so could people like this post please if they want one..? Thank you
This girl looks so serious for such a silly topic—! Touko finds it oddly cute, but pretty funny, not that she says either. “Who knows, maybe both.” Slang does go out of fashion pretty fast (and as much as Touko talks, she’s still not too great at pop culture or slang, really).
"You look so serious, it’s not like it’s anything to get concerned about y’know.” Worrying too much does nothing for you! You get… stress and stuff, don’t sweat anything that isn’t life-changing. C’mon, mystery trainer! Get with the program.
This person was definitely confusing. They talk about the subject like everyone knows, and for all she knew- they probably did. Though Shizuko was glad that the lady told her it wasn't anything to get worked up about. "Well you never know." She started, "It's like talking about something huge like a new champion and saying you don't know what the pokemon league is- isn't it? But ah, on a smaller scale."
"If the subject is unimportant Ma'am may we avert from the topic? It's terribly confusing."
"Well yeah, that’s half the point.” Ironic meme hell or.. something? When she’s actually faced with explaining this kind of humor, Touko realizes she actually has no idea why it’s funny.
She clasps her hands behind her head and rocks backwards, regarding Shizuko calmly. “It’s not like it’s bad or anything, don’t worry about it. You’ll learn the slang eventually, ahaha.”
Then what's the other half of the point? She's curious now! Though they don't voice it, after all this brunette isn't someone she knows well enough yet to pester about odd or small details.
"Learn the slang eventually?" Shizuko enquired, "Do you mean within the year type of eventually or when I get too old to use all the lingo?" She didn't rather fancy the second one, after all learning something to use it is more fun than just knowing what it is when it pops up by someone else.
"I already know that," Touya complaints. "This isn’t the first time I’ve handled Oshawott pups before. But they do love to use water gun when they do begin to learn moves. But in my opinion, teething isn’t much of a problem with Oshawotts. If anything they have trouble walking around for a long while because they have such a huge head."
"I mean yeah it is polite, but like it isn’t much of a business environment. So that’s why I usually skip the formality," the boy shrugs complacently. "But yeah, we’re way past formality now." Because it all started with dank memes.
But those are some really interesting pokemon. Binacle yes, but relicanth. ????. It wasn’t like Tou is one to judge but…..”That’s really interesting! I’ve seen a binacle before. They are kinda cute….”
Touya seems to know a lot about Oshawotts- though really she'd already figured he knew all this from his passion with them, so they weren't sure why it was much of a surprise he knew the biology behind them too. "I suppose teething wouldn't, since they would nibble on their own shells or something right? The baby Oshawotts have big heads? That sounds rather cute! " she frowned a little, "Are the baby's bones fully developed when they're born? Or do you have to be careful that the head hasn't fully ossified?"
"I'm glad you have the same pokemon you think are cute! For some reason people don't think Relicanths are cute and prefer others like Eevees. The true wonders are under-appreciated." She tilted her head a little, "Wait, you've seen Binacles? But they aren't normally located around this region are they?"
"Eh not really, 12 lil oshawotts ain’t that bad," the boy dismissed with a small wave of his hand. "If anything, I need to worry about is they might flood it." Which sounds even more worse. But it didn’t in his head.
How formal of Shizuko! Touya feels kinda embarrassed for not stating his full name now. But then again the girl could be a foreigner. “Eh? You don’t be so formal y’know,” he states with the utmost surprise. But later smiling at her statement. “Is it really that interesting? Don’t we all have that pokemon that makes you all giddy inside?”
Honestly this kid-! "But you should make sure to look up proper care for baby pokemon! They don't know why or why not they should use moves and though they haven't fully developed a lot of power for their moves if they use them it can still be quite a mess. Oh! But don't forget when the teeth and other parts start coming in, they'll claw and chew on everything they can get their hands on."
"I don't? But it's polite to give your whole name when meeting people first right? People who aren't so close can call you mr or miss while ones who know you or are talking with you can call you by the first." She shrugged at her own sentence, "We've passed that part of formality anyway I suppose."
A pokemon that makes her giddy inside? She had to ponder this a moment, "I suppose a binacle or a relicanth could be kind of cute."
