I have been working with this door for long time, I wanted to try to build front door and I wanted to do them real thick. This have been my weekend project for over a month now. Not to mention that rough opening was open for over a year (piece of plywood). This is what happen when you are busy - "shoemaker thing" ... I like to try things but going into such a project without a plan and plus just from time to time is real challenge Also I dont like to cut corners so every time i went back to it I had to re-think all processes again.. So ...This is 3" thick white oak s......ker. it will have double weather strip insulation and even 1 weather strip on the door itself on the bottom ( on top of regular door sweep insulation). Wanted to see if that is worth an effort and how much trouble such heavy door will give me when I start using, as I heard from few guys that thick solid doors are nothing but trouble- well build them is a trouble too, but lots of fun.. and something like this is possible to do only in your own house. The frame - Piece on the picture ,that is glued together on top of door, is a glass-stop that I will install after glass is in place. I am very excited to hang them on the frame (which is also way overdone - built in to the house withtransom and side lites) ... soon babe,.. soon. :) One thing I know for the fact ... Never doing that again on weekends.😎😊 Wanted to post that so when you watch some stories you will recognize my progress (slow :( ) #hope not #keepcraftalive #frontdoor #whiteoak #heavy #woodworkingtips #diy #wyckoff #solidwood #solidoor #qualitywork #contractor #expensive #expensiveproject #familyfirst #kurnatwood #truedoor #craft #craftsman #moderncraftsman #quality #value #exited (at Mahwah, New Jersey) https://www.instagram.com/p/BpI6i09gQTH/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=5ghg1o2iw841
