hi hi hi !! so, ive been compiling a ton of information about the dream smp for over five months now (starting from dec 6th, 2020) !!! ive created multiple documents that are essentially over-the-top descriptions and general play-by-plays of each lore stream. it's over 130k words total (and counting) with 613 pages written thus far (split between multiple docs).
there are currently two main docs: dsmp s2 & dsmp s3. the streams are all in chronological order from december 6th to the present, and the table of contents links directly to each individual stream :]
the other four docs are a catch-up guide for s1 (and the start of exile), territories & characters for seasons 2 and seasons 3, and then a recreation of all important documents for the third season !
the quality of each document improves as time goes on, and it's very quote-heavy â especially in season 3 ! images are used for reference in the more confusing scenes, such as those that rely upon imagery (like quackity's recent lore streams)
almost every conversation of dream's since ranboo became heavily involved in the lore is included in this ! his character is a fascinating one, and i've done my best to capture him in a more objective sense, focusing on his actions and dialogue rather than allowing any personal interpretations to cloud the writings. of course, i'm not perfect, but i've done my best to do this throughout for all characters involved !
the intent behind these was to ensure that those that have missed streams and are unable to find the time to catch up are able to do so, and those that have a difficult time rewatching the clips/vods would be able to revisit them. i know that a lot of the streams touch upon heavy topics, so i hope that these documents can allow people to review them while being able to avoid possible triggers
there are content / trigger warnings included in the beginning of the primary docs! please proceed with caution, a lot of streams can get really heavy at times
i'm the sole owner and editor of all the docs listed/linked above ! i am only one person, so i'm not always perfectly up-to-date, but im not planning on abandoning this project any time soon :D
i wanted both skins to have an adventuring duo kinda vibe to them ! technoâs is blue and white, favoring the snow and ice around the cabins. dreamâs is green and brown for the (enchanted) forest !
we know techno aint moving, but not sure where dream will go after he breaks out. heâs always had pretty heavy forest vibes to me, plus just the green in general :]
anyway yeah theyâre supposed to be matching, didnt change the actual clothes too much outside of coloring bc i thought they looked cool enough like that as it is. the only thing completely unchanged is the wrapping around their arms, but i like the idea that they each contributed their own little things to the design (heavier bits like the shawl/scarf was technoâs bc of his cape, wrappings are dreamâs from his time surviving in the manhunts, etc) :D

foolish: made on june 18th! green vibes, wanted a matching vest w purpled
charlie: made on april 17th! after charlie mentioned he had lore planned when playing originsmp, i decided to make him a skin similar to qâs! it fits now, itâs the closest in style but just a tad bit different (red tie for the hearts on his actual shirt)
purpled: made on june 18th! he and foolish arent really trying to mimic q (unlike fundy and charlie), so i wanted to kinda group them together. he still has the suspenders but refuses to wear them lol
fundy: made on may 15th! gave him a little bowtie bc fundy is little baby man. again, pretty similar to q but still his own vibes + a hat :D
wilbur: made on june 6th (started a while earlier)! dilf vibes. thatâs literally it. the reference photo is just someone wearing a suit jacket over their arms and i thought it fit lmao
gonna preface this by saying that ranboo is one of my favorite if not my favorite ccs atm and that i really respect what he's done and am very proud of how much he's grown over the past nine or so months
that being said. i cannot stand the amount of hypocrisy that this man has in his frigid cold takes about how lore works on the smp
ranboo is known for complaining that semi-lore doesn't really happen all that often on the smp anymore and that he wishes that people could just approach each other and start rp interactions like how it used to be. i agree with the fact that semi-lore is really fun!!! i love it myself and i wish people did more of it...but here's the thing. ranboo says that he wishes there was more semi-lore and then proceeds to have his in-game chat off 85% of the time, only do grinding streams, and almost never go into the main area of the smp where the majority of the people are. he says that nobody logs on anymore, but when punz and purpled are having more in character interactions with other people than you are, you've gotta start questioning whether you're right about that or not.
as we've seen with phil, "in-character interactions" and "semi-lore" can literally just be talking through game chat -- that's canon enough for the fans, and it's fun to do.
he talks about pre-recorded lore like its a disease and swears to never do it, but it's literally only q and karl that do that and it's simply because that is the form of presentation of lore they feel the most comfortable with. very few people actually prefer one over the other -- we like semi-lore, live heavy lore, pre-recorded heavy lore -- it's all good. none are better or worse than the others because they all have their ups and downs.
i think he just has to understand that any lore, heavy lore usually but also semi-lore is a two-way street. he says that he doesn't want to dm people on discord to do lore, which is totally understandable, fair, and valid!!...but the lore he's preaching about doesn't require dms (or at least, he doesn't want it to). there are so many people that would be willing to strike up an in-character conversation with you if you actually went anywhere on the smp where people are. or if, y'know, you could actually talk in game chat and then move to vc.
for example, foolish!! foolish is a master of semi-lore, he'll dip into character when a dono asks something about it and then flip right back into ooc in the next minute! foolish would be! very willing to talk to c!ranboo! hey, y'know that entire mansion he built for you?? go over there and talk to him about that! hell, even the bee 'n' boo hotel streams were a decent bit of semi-canon that we could appreciate! why don't you go out and finish that, or maybe decorate the empty mansion that foolish worked on for a month!!
he has so many avenues out of the situation he's talked about and just chooses to,,,complain about it and y'know i love him as much as the next guy but my man...it ain't that hard to strike up a conversation in character. especially for you of all people.

- she has red eyes! no particular reason, i just thought it would be kinda cool :D
- originally, i gave her bat wings! they looked cool but didnât really fit with the design and it was hard to work everything around them while still making everything look good
- the shawl was initially more of a cape w shoulder cutouts, but bc mc skins dont have necks it looked kinda weird. ended up w this design, which i really like !

- silver!!! the whole âenchanted forestâ and âgoddess of deathâ things give me big silver vibes, plus it goes well w green! also, the green isnât bc of phil, but more the forest bit. i really wanted the silver, so i worked the dress around that rather than the other way around (hence why it isnt more purple/blue like most fanart)

another topic i have Many Thoughts on, iâm glad you asked! so many people are concerned/donât expect a good video because there are just so many things that could go wrong lol, so:
hereâs why i absolutely donât trust matpatâs video on dsmp
aka everything that can go wrong with it (and coincidentally, why some of the analysis suck)
1) matt doesn't know the lore himself. i pretty much grew up watching the guy- this is not what the style of his analysis videos used to be. he used to consume the media himself, make his own well-thought analysis and do it whilst walking you through the steps. he doesnât really do it this way anymore (thereâs a whole another beef on him stealing theories/analysis from others online, and not crediting anyone has been an ongoing issue of his, as a side note) which makes it harder to trust the content heâll make. iâve heard people talk about his past content too,
and while i donât have much context for these i can make guesses lol. his videos are pretty much either a hit or miss, and i donât think this one will be a hit, because:
2) heâs asking the viewersâ aid, which is a whole can of worms on its own. this is the most obvious problem from the get-go and the worst one, probably.
we all know how the story changes depending on whoâs pov youâre watching. hell, itâs one of the most common reasons fans list under why they love the content- this makes it possible for dsmp to accommodate many narratives. when handling a media like this two things stand out to me; referencing the entire content, and the viewer bias.
you need to keep everything that has happened in mind. this makes you understand why matt asked for othersâ help, as this is very hard to handle on your own, but that doesnât guarantee quality. itâs impossible to make an accurate depiction of a character/piece of media without first analyzing everything that took place and made things result in the way they did. you need to fully understand a characterâs past to talk about their morals, and you need to know about all the events that took place up until that moment to understand why the outcome of a situation is the way it is. this becomes a cause of concern because no one knows the lore to that extent. people watch some of the povs, read a detailed recap on othersâ povs if youâre lucky, and completely ignore the rest/go off of what theyâve heard in a passing comment for the most part. (the amount of people iâve seen not fact checking things and calling everything canon...) not saying thereâs anything wrong with it- itâs just how people consume their media, but you canât guarantee quality analysis with it. even if you brought together a team of people from everyoneâs pov, there can be missing pieces still, and matt would have no way of knowing. (not to mention- with a team like that youâd still have individuals making their analysis based on othersâ , which defeats the purpose)
sweet, sweet viewer bias. itâd be naive to think you can avoid it. you may argue that referring to multiple povs would eliminate this, but you still donât know every single piece of lore, and there are still certain characters you have a better understanding of that shapes your views. for it to be accurate youâd need an equal handling of the povs (whether itâs about how much detail you go into for a certain pov, or what piece of info you refer to) and thatâs hard to achieve. not to mention, matt, who presumably doesnât know much about the dsmp, will be choosing these people. he said there will be auditions, but an analysis doesnât need to be accurate to look good to an outsider.
while on the topic of viewer bias,
3) heâs asking for help on twitter. thatâs where the fandom is most vocal on, so it kind of makes sense, but itâs still not that good of an idea. going more into my own opinions here, whether you find decent users relies entirely on luck. you get noticed only if you have clout (-> only big accounts have a chance at being chosen, not a guarantee on quality) the place is toxic enough to let any kind of opinion take shape and grow roots (-> people are constantly subjected to negative shit and start disliking characters/ccs even before they learn anything about them), and thereâs a weird culture on being mutuals where everyone strictly sticks to their own circles and gatekeep the most dumb shit from each other/attack others for even following a certain person they donât approve of (-> you cant learn anything if youâre in a circle where everyone just repeats the same stuff to each other & having certain opinions is condoned)
suffice to say, hit or miss. when it comes to the actual video:
4) ONE narrative will be marketed as the all-encompassing, exception-less truth. viewer bias, many different povs, seemingly contrary things NOT being mutually exclusive- there is no single narrative. there is no single answer, or a single solution to things. not only is it near impossible to boil everything down to one pov, this will be marketed as the single truth, matt going âyup! this is the answer of the topic of this video :)â and so many people will take this and just run with it.
especially for the fans that mainly enjoy characters that get misrepresented (see: butchered) by the majority of the fandom, this is even worse as not only are the chances of their character being analyzed right very low (viewer bias), this analysis:
5) will reach public masses. if theyâre misrepresented, the hate for them in the fandom will only grow. matt has both garnered the attention of almost every fan that uses social media (marketing-this video will have more views), heâs got a massive channel of his own. enough people start believing it, and-
6) it will be taken as a reference point by masses. iâve seen fans slander characters because of an inaccurate joke another character made. if it alligns with enough people, and of course depending on the actual content of the video, youâll see people bring it up in arguments to make points. on the worst case scenario that the content is awful for certain characters- you see where iâm going with this.
my final point:
7) thereâs no guarantee on the quality until it already becomes published. this also means that before you see any criticism they will all likely drown in the comments, or it might just be too late for it, as millions will see it and take it at face value. the analysis could be completely biased and many wouldnât be able to even tell.
idk. i see many things that could go wrong. obviously this is the absolute worst case scenario and i hope they make a decent job of it, but i donât exactly have much to build trust on.
okay so i missed the team announcements today so i just checked them now and holy shit hbombâs team is OP
i know people on twitter are gonna underestimate them but like. theyâre all potential top 20 players, PLUS the h factor?? if they donât get top 4 teams iâll be shocked.Â
while theyâre not as strong in pvp games, they still have Wisp for those and theyâre all at least decent at pvp otherwise. however, pvp games arenât played as often as people think (which Might change this season but still) and hâs team will excel in team games
