I think the show has made it pretty clear that the two of them have feelings for each other. They’ve asked each other to run away together, Rhaenyra in the very first episode, and Alicent at the end of season 2.

A pairing doesn’t need to kiss to be canon. And if you need some sort of physical proof, Rhaenyra has been made canonically queer in the show.

Alicent can so easily be read as a deeply repressed lesbian, or some flavor of not-straight. She moved into Rhaenyra’s old bedroom and started sleeping with Rhaenyra’s first lover. For 20 years she kept a page Rhaenyra ripped out of a book. And then Rhaenyra cried over that page when she realized Alicent had kept it.

Also, the script for the very first episode deliberately had Rhaenyra flirting with Alicent.

Bad habit picked up?

So Rhaenyra was picking her nail bed in this scene, I noticed. Maybe it was just a subconscious act since she was nervous and overwhelmed.

But I don't think the Queen came to her prisoner at night by chance. "Justice" was brought to her. But no justice at all. Rhaenyra knew something was wrong. Mysaria did not believe what Daemon said, either. And yet, if Rhaenyra is to believe Daemon lied to her, then she must face the fact that, day by day, people are leaving her side and are too ready to exploit her trust and mercy.

In S3E3, Rhaenicent scenes did not come after any random scene, I thought. But now, after S3E4, there is more evidence to see why Emma said the way the details appear during the season (the chronological order) would make one idea so clear. Can't remember their exact words. Something related to/describe how Alicent is Rhaenyra's judge, jury, and conscience, locked in a castle. And something about Rhaenyra craves Alicent's kindness.

Oh, divine Alicent yet again in her nightgown, hair still tousled… dear gods of hotd, please give us another Rhaenyra entrance while Alicent is still in her nightgown. Rhaenyra queen of subtlety Targaryen, conveniently visiting her prisoner only at bedtime and waking hours, just to admire her. Did young Rhaenyra ever do this? Has anyone written about this?
