The Creature Codex has been part of my life for 15 years now, and I've been writing monsters for RPGs for an additional decade on top of that. This month marks the 9th anniversary of the Codex in its current incarnation, and I am so proud of all of the work I've poured into it. We're coming close to Monster 2000. Kaiju, Godzilla CR 28 N Magical Beast This saurian beast is larger than a building. Its head is squared off, with a short muzzle and beady eyes. Its arms are powerful and clawed and its legs are immense and end in compact feet. Its tail is as long again as the rest of its body, and several rows of jagged spines run from the nape of its neck to its tail, largest around the shoulders.

Kaiju, Muto (male) CR 26 N Magical Beast This immense creature is vaguely shark-like, but its anatomy does not truly resemble any normal animal. It has a wedge-shaped head with pincer jaws, and luminous red patches on either side seem to take the place of eyes. It walks on four limbs, the front two of which have backwards curving hooked claws. Two smaller limbs grow from its chest and end in similar hooks. It has two wings, which stretch longer than its entire body.

Kaiju, Muto (female) CR 28 N Magical Beast This immense creature is vaguely shark-like, but its anatomy does not truly resemble any normal animal. It walks on six limbs, the front four of which have backwards curving hooked claws. Two smaller limbs grow from its chest and end in similar hooks. A triangular projection like a dorsal fin grows from its back.

In this past month, we've had two new Bonus Monsters!

Joy CR 16 CG Construct This woman is dressed in colorful jester’s motley of red and white and green, but the jingly bells in her hat are studded with spikes and her ballet shoes open at the front to reveal metallic blades in her feet. Her face is covered by a white porcelain comedy mask, marred by a large crack like a scar over her right eye. She carries an oversized sack over one shoulder, bulging with packages.

Kong CR 28 NG Monstrous Humanoid This immense ape-like humanoid is taller than a tower. His fur and beard have a grayish tinge, and scars crisscross his chest and craggy face. He carries an enormous axe, its blade made of slate-gray bone.

Another month, another bonus monster!

Kaiju, Rodan CR 27 CN Magical Beast This enormous creature is somewhat like a pterosaur enlarged to impossible size. Its head has a sharp curved beak and two horns growing from the back of its head. Its wings have a small hand around the midpoint, and have the texture of volcanic rock. It has a wedge shaped tail and strong legs, ending in grasping talons.

Giving some love to the minor Legendary kaiju on the Patreon this month!

Kaiju, Scylla CR 26 CN Magical Beast This creature combines the traits of crustaceans and cephalopods. It has six long armored legs, each one ending in a sharp claw and with a thin layer of webbing connecting them at the base. Its head is like a nautilus, with a dozen tentacles writhing around a beaked mouth. Its back is protected by a spiral shell.

Kaiju, King Ghidorah CR 30 NE Dragon This dragon has golden scales and three heads, each on the end of a long flexible neck and crowned with ten horns. Its forelimbs are enormous membranous wings that it uses as legs when it moves along the ground. Its wide back feet have five clawed toes each, and it has two long tails, both ending in a cluster of hooked spines.

You know as an American born in the late 90s I’ve watched my country blow up foreigners on tv supposedly in the interest of national security since I was a toddler but quite frankly we live on a natural fortress of a continent with friendly nations to our north and south and have been attacked on our own soil literally two times in the past hundred years and we have military bases on every inhabited continent on earth. It’s never made sense to do these things for “national security”. It never will make sense unless you value the shareholders of weapons companies over the lives of children. And apparently a concerning amount of people do.

Any nation that decided to directly invade the United States would be stupid. Who the fuck wants to deal with the logistics of getting an army across the ocean towards a massive country with a massive amount of spy technology?

“National security” my balls. They just want violence.

I’m not unusual in this opinion either. A huge majority of the American public, like 70%, doesn’t like that we’re attacking Iran.

We were lied to in the early 2000s about weapons of mass destruction. You remember that? They lied to our faces about it. Innocent civilians died and our soldiers came home in body bags and for what? For what? A lie.

And it’s happening again but this time we can tell. We remember. They’re not making nuclear bombs over there. We’re being lied to directly to our faces.

People across the political spectrum are sick of war. We don’t want more war. And yet these idiots keep throwing more lives away. And for what? Vanity? Uranium? You’re trading human lives for uranium? Fuck you.
