Arya and the Stranger
Good news, I figured out a way to pack even more unnecessary, extremely tedious to color details into my art :)
No i've just been obsessed with these old russian fairytale illustrations for ages and really wanted to try and emulate that style and how it shows so much additional art in the borders of the work. It was really fun to figure out a way to portray the stranger, I wanted to play around a bit with the descriptions we are given without turning them into a standard grim reaper.
Oh, also if you want; you can get a print of this here!
common advice for social anxiety is to tell yourself "people aren't going to think less of you just because you said something a bit daft" but the thing is. sometimes they will. and you just have to learn to be cool with that and to treat it as a dnd random encounter rather than letting it ruin your whole day
recent example. lady at my careers appointment had a post-it with her name on it stuck to the monitor, so i introduced myself by saying "hello, i'm eliot! you must be [name], it's nice to meet you!" and she stared at me as if i was the stupidest person alive and said icily, "yeah, i'm [name]. congratulations, you can read."
in bygone times this would have reduced me to a sort of quivering blancmange. thankfully i am now in a place where i was able to pull back, calmly evaluate this interaction, and say to myself "this woman should probably not be working in a customer-facing job"
imagine how radical being a pet fish is like youre just swimming around and suddenly it starts raining food
cmon child safety lid you know it's me
WHAT does this tag mean
Richard Nixon once called in staff to help him open an allergy-pill bottle. It was the childproof type of bottle, with instructions saying “Press down while turning.” The cap had teeth marks on it where Nixon had apparently tried to gnaw it open
lmfao what the fuck!
source: richard nixon: a psychobiography
i can’t find the reblog chain that mentions it but it’s important to me that people know it was richard nixon himself that had signed the legislation requiring child safety lids on pill bottles

what hat did you give the goat what is the instinctual hat you gave to this goat

Being an adult will have you unironically sad about a parasite outbreak in fresh vegetables.
when i got to the part where they defeated the dragon robots im like "this is only 16.5.... thats really fast for them to settle the conflict for this arc.... if i were taylor i'd be really scared right now"
then i started the next chapter and laughed
do you guys ever like forget you’re interested in something until you start engaging with it again and you go “oh wait i’m like crazy crazy about this yeah”
such insolence... guards? seize her! ...no. stop. not like that. you are doing it gay. why are you seizing her gay style
oh em GEE! it's not accurate?? can you guys wake up homer? find his corpse and ask him what he thinks? was he the first writer of the odyssey? or was he the first person to write it down? did he exist? lets wake up the first ever bard to think of the odyssey! who is he? oh we dont know? that sucks. did you guys ask ovid? did you talk to hesiod? or sophocles? does mythology have one definite story? or does it evolve over time across centuries and milleniums? is there one true translation? or version? dont stories change? should nolan have stood there for 18 hours and recite it in ancient greek while you guys ate food? oh wait sorry thats not accurate. he should speak for one hour over dinner and then you guys come back for 17 straight days and listen for an hour at a time. oh wait sorry that wrong too. he hasnt mastered speaking classical greek. oh wait no one speaks that anymore, no one alive does. let's wake up and find euripedes' ghost too. and aeschylus. and apuleius! cant forget that guy. oh but wait they all lived hundreds of years apart and all told different versions of the different mythologies and added their own messaging and ideas. and they left out other parts too. according to you guys thats not allowed. god forbid. oh sorry. gods forbid.
