HOLY FUCK I THINK I FIGURED SOMETHING OUT

So, the scene where Alastor gets free of his Deals with Rosie and Vox has been bothering me since I first watched "Curtain Call" at 4 am this morning.

For one, why did Charlie saying Vox is the most powerful break his Deal with Rosie?

What does her words change in this situation? Like, if Vox is more powerful, then he's more powerful, regardless of what Charlie says, right? It's not like there seems to be any magic involved other than Alastor using the Favor she gave him. Vox himself has been saying he's more powerful than Alastor for a while, so it's not like they just needed someone's verbal confirmation. And there's a significant delay between Charlie's words and the leash around Alastor's neck vanishing.

I was trying to figure this out all day. Maybe he needed the ego boost to transform into demon mode, and that was what tipped him over the edge to being the strongest sinner? But even then, there's this still a delay between Vox transforming and the collar vanishing.

Additionally, if Alastor's Deal with Rosie was broken, then how did he still have his power? My understanding of Deal Magic is that if the Deal is broken, it's broken. Neither side seems to keep what they got. Why would Alastor get to keep his power for free?

But what if Charlie didn't break Alastor's Deal with Rosie? What if she completed it?

Let's go through the scene again.

Charlie says: "Vox is the strongest sinner in Hell"

Then, we cut to three separate reaction shots where the people of Hell cheer.

The delay for those three reaction shots can be explained by them occurring simultaneously, and if the next shot was Alastor's leash vanishing, then I wouldn't have thought this much about it.

But the next shot is actually Vox and Charlie. Vox laughs maniacally, then transforms, screaming "Oh, yeah!"

Then Vox delivers another line of dialogue: "Look, Princess! Hell's finally listening to you!"

Only THEN do we cut to Alastor, with the collar breaking.

And not just Alastor, but Rosie, too.

Why include Rosie here? Specifically like this? The collar around Alastor's throat broke, but we don't actually see anything on Rosie's end that looks broken. And the sound effect at this bit isn't the sound of something shattering or breaking. Listen.

There's a sort of magical "ting!" as the collar breaks, and a dramatic "thrum!" when Rosie's eyes flash.

The time delay between Charlie's line and Alastor's collar breaking is 18 seconds.

The delay between Vox saying that Hell is listening to Charlie and the collar breaking is less than a second.

What if the task Alastor was supposed to complete for Rosie was making Hell listen to Charlie? At least three separate times in this episode, we are reminded about Alastor's cunning specifically when it comes to words and Deals.

Right after this when Alastor escapes Vox's captivity is the first reminder.

Vox: "Fucking wordplay?! You tricked me with a fucking technicality?! Seriously?!" Alastor: "Mmm... it worked, didn't it? Baby, I'm a demon in Hell! It's kind of our thing!"

Then, Rosie reminds us twice in her and Alastor's part of "Hear My Hope." "Why don't you help them, you double-dealing manipulator?" and "I will not reward a snake like you."

On that note, Rosie seems angry with him here. Like she didn't get what she wanted.Like, perhaps, she wanted him to help Charlie, but he used her phrasing to his advantage to free himself without actually having to help that much.

Even when he came to the Emporium to tell him he had quite the hotel and basically threatened her, she didn't get angry.

And apparently, Rosie cares about "them" (unclear whether that's just Charlie and those closest to her, the entire hotel, or more. Alastor's shadows showed Emily, Charlie, Vaggie, Husk, Angel Dust, and Niffty dying when he said that).

Remember Alastor's lines in "Finale." "The constraints of my Deal surely have a back door." I think this was the back door. A way to technically fulfill his end of the bargain and free himself now.

The more I think about it, the more I think this is the case. Charlie completed Alastor's Deal, she didn't break it. Which is how he still had so much power to fight Vox right after.

Hi! It is an interesting theory, but I think the reality is actually simpler.

Vox's power works like medias, so he gets stronger and stronger the more people listen to him and adore him. This is why he spends the whole season trying to win over public opinion.

Charlie's inexperience with media gives Vox a chance to seize and steal her newfound popularity

Alastor decides to actively help Vox's power grab to free himself. So, he lets himself be captured by the Vees. He knows this will give Vox the chance to expand his popularity among the other Overlords (Bad With Us)

Vaggi, Lucifer and Sera make things worse because Vox shows Hell he is not afraid by angels. This makes him even more popular among the sinners

Angel's endorsement of the Vees discredits the Hazbin Hotel even more and gives Vox more power

By the end almost all of Hell listens to and adores Vox, but Charlie stays an opposing force. Hence Alastor teases Vox by telling him he can never truly become the strongest in Hell, unless he has Charlie admit defeat. The people who oppose Vox will never recognize him if Charlie, who is his only political rival does not concede defeat:

Vox: You have no idea what I'm capable of. Just watch, Alastor. I'll get her here, on camera, in front of all of Hell, bowing before me. Just imagine it. A member of the royal family endorsing me as I finish what her mother started. You can't write a more inspiring story than that.

Vox even remarks it will be great for his public image if a member of the Royal Family endorses him as Lilith's true successor. So, the moment Charlie says Vox is the strongest in Hell public opinion unite and Vox gains a 100% approval rate. Everyone believes Vox is the strongest, so he becomes the strongest. Fake news become real :P

Still, Vox's power is unstable and he starts losing it. The moment he becomes the strongest, Alastor quickly humiliates him and reveals he had been manipulating Vox the whole time. Then Vox starts going around destroying the city, which results in him IMMEDIATELY losing all his popularity. This quickly depowers him.

I think Rosie and Al's deal is being kept hidden from us willingly. Rosie definitely wants something out of the Hazbin Hotel and she has promised Alastor even more power in exchange. This is why Al is still willing to work with her, even after he has his soul back. At least these are my two cents, but I could be very wrong! Maybe Hell listening to Charlie might tie into Rosie and Al's pact and we will discover it next season :)

I agree with the original post, i find it weird that just one person just had to not respect the deal to break it (so Angel just could have stopped working for Val ? It's too easy) here Rosie not keeping her promise. But actually it made sense if the deal was not broken but just ended because Alastor did what he had to do(make hell listen to charlie) ,and rosie already made him the most powerful sinner before… Like it will be a great plot twist

The Chaggie Moments from the S2 Trailer and What They Might Be About

These three Chaggie pics are the ones making fans (especially Chaggie fans) theorize what is happening. As such, I will give my opinion.

First Pic - Charlie is crying happy tears while Vaggie is beside her. Now, I strongly agree with the sentiment that this is because she has learned of Sir Pentious' ascension and is beyond overjoyed that not only has her friend survived but that her dream wasn't a foolhardy one.

Second Pic - Honestly, the most mysterious pic of them. Vaggie looks tired but gently holds Charlie's face. And she utters this line (which was the closing speaking line of the official S2 trailer), "We've faced impossible odds before. Together, we can do it again". One YouTuber even stated that Vaggie is on the ground and not in their bed. And I agree that whatever is happening here is probably a big spoiler. Why? When Vaggie mentions "we can do it again". I think by the 2nd pic, they are already aware of Sir Pentious' ascension but something else has happened after. Something bad that has caused problems for their goals. And Vaggie's whole expression implies she might be injured or hurt and she's smiling and gently holding Charlie's cheek to comfort the princess and whatever chaos has happened by that point.

Third Pic - I'm going to straight up say it: This is going to be the much anticipated sex scene Vivziepop has talked about. Although, I can see there being more than one and her keeping it secret to surprise fans. Why do I (and many others) think that? The soft lighting, the intimate close up of the two holding hands, Charlie's jacket is already off, and they are in their bed.

Now, I have seen some people claim the second and third pics are from the same scene. But I disagree. All three pics are from DIFFERENT Chaggie moments/scenes. Why do I think this? It's a simple reason but something I noticed - In each pic, we don't see one or (in the case of the third pic) both of their faces. Why does this matter? I am not a media expert but I think it might be a misdirection, to avoid spoilers. The crew specifically chose their pics to avoid spoilers but also make us think that some are happening together at the same time.

Another reason why I think the 2nd and 3rd pics are from different moments is because of the lighting. The second has the typical red background while the 3rd pic is much MORE softer. So, I think the trailer is throwing us off -> the second pic happens AFTER the third pic.

Here's how I think the moments will go

First Pic - Definitely first. Everyone learns about Sir Pentious and Charlie is overjoyed, relieved, and validated. And she's sharing a private moment with her girlfriend.

Third Pic - Don't know when but they have their intimate sex moment

Second Pic - The most mysterious pic means it's probably the biggest spoiler between all of the pics. Vaggie appears to be very tired or in pain; is talking about doing the impossible "again", which infers something BIG happened at that point; her gently holding Charlie's cheek in reassurance. And unlike the other two pics, where we can vaguely see that they are in their bedroom, the second pic obscures the background even more. It could be outside or inside. Either way, this pic of them couples with Vaggie's words, means SOMETHING BIG has transpired and Vaggie is trying to calm Charlie.
