living in the countryside really strikes the fear of god into you at the most random moments. you’ll just make eye contact with a cow or stare for too long into a brook and all of a sudden you’ll think something like “these are old bones and i am merely a passing occupant” and then you have to go and put the kettle on to cope

I went to the farmer’s market yesterday and at the honey guy’s booth and there were all these bees just hangin out.  Checking out the beeswax tabs, floating around the honey jars, not being aggressive, just really gentle and investigating or something

and as he was giving me a sample of the wildflower honey one of them landed on his hand and he just took a drop from the jar and dabbed it on his hand for the bee, and when I asked if they were his bees he said “No, but they show up every time I come out, I think they just know my truck” and this guy is well-known among the local bees and lets them sit on his hand and eat his honey and I just really like the bee guy

when i was a teenager it felt very revolutionary to be cruel to myself. like some kind of slow passive protest against how much everything hurt. i starved myself of sleep and food and tenderness because it felt right. it felt sharp and angry and radical and i wanted to be those things. adulthood is the realisation that the world is already working to cut into you well before you learn how to do it yourself. caring for yourself and others is the real protest

Ok so……there’s this big stick just like ..sitting in the woods right…and there’s a bunch of thorns that have grown around it right in a wide radius so I crawled under them to get to the spot and my fingers are cold typing this but….I'mma touch it

Y'all I took that gif whole SITTING in the circle and I go back there and sit regularly now that’s just green and clear. The people who tell stories about faerie circles aren’t the faeries themselves, just saying 👀

Ah, but there’s always this to consider. One you could be the one who got away to tell the story. After all, if nobody comes back or survives, how are the tales spread? Or two, you could be something more along the lines of a Pied Piper drawing others in. Sort of like how fae parties are usually heard because of Satyr pipes being played, song and laughter from other fae. Perhaps you’re the laughter and joy that piques the interest of a traveler in the wood. Mayhap you’re a gatekeeper. -shrugs- Food for thought.
