Okay, I think Valeera’s excited about Stormwind and Varian’s comment about “blow us there” means that she doesn’t need to talk a lot about going there.
A revisit so a very old Jaina musing I had back in like Mop/WOD. I wanted to fix the typos, but other than that I think I will revisit it fully from a BFA POV. A sequel perhaps.
“I won’t leave your side.” It was a vow she had made long ago, one that she wouldn’t turn on now. The years had broken that vow. The very vow that had built most of her young life. One she regretted turning her back on. Yet…
Had he not turned his back on her, to begin with? How would things be if he had never left her that winter? If the beloved horse had never died.
If they had never met…
The storm outside her window made her homesick. Even though this city had been her home for most of her young life. Yet, the archmage missed the humid breeze that would bring ships to her city. Even though she never had the affinity for the warmth of the fire, she still enjoyed the warm breezes late in the evening.
"Maybe I belong here after all.“ The snow that collected outside her tower brought her back to the Winter’s Veil ball, the first night she realized something was wrong. In her own pain, she hadn’t the chance to reach out to her beloved prince.
How could she not feel responsible for all that had happened?
“I’m sorry Arthas…I can’t watch you do this.”
Yet here she sat after the culling, after the cataclysm, after the destruction of Theramore…Here she sat after everything, and still, life was moving on. Still, she found herself alone. All the warmth she had ever known replaced with the ice of her beacon of hope.
What had she ever done to deserve this life?
She had loved Arthas with all her heart. Only to have him turn his back on her. If she had been with a child, would things of ended differently?
If she had never befriended Thrall to the degree she did…would Theramore still be standing? The orcs weren’t complete savages, nor where the rest of the members of the horde. There was opportunist, and Thrall had given one the power to destroy her home. To destroy her. Could things have gone differently? Could her tower in the center of the small island still be standing if she had just gotten closer to her dear orc friend?
What would be the next tragedy the befell her?
A witch hunt for her head?
“Lady Proudmoore?” Turning her head to the door the mage saw her student standing before her. The chiming of the clock let her know that she was late for their lessons
“Forgive me, dear. It seems I lost track of through.” The girl smiled at her brightly. She had the warm eyes, the ones Jaina remembered seeing in her own reflection. The girl had the same affinity for ice, but her warmth was a demanding power inside her.
“Should I come back later?”
“Go ahead and set up for an arcane lesson. It’s time we moved on.”
