Baz and Simon spend one weekend together and immediately decide they need to make out with each other as much as possible.
Iâm rereading Carry On for the 4th time in less than 18 months and here are some things that stuck out to me. I was reading around a friend and they were so suprised about how into the story I was. But itâs Simon and Baz and Penelope and Agatha. How could you read it and not be fully engrossed? Anyways:
Simon and Agatha didnât believe for a second Simon would live past this year. Thatâs why she broke up with him, because she thought she was dating a future funeral.
Penelope is in denial about Simonâs fragility. She believes that Simon would manage to live through the Humdrum if she also fights hard enough.
Simon- Bazâs-eyes-are-the-shade-of-gray-that-happens-when-you-mix-dark-blue-and-dark-green-together Snow.
Simon is obsessed with Baz because Baz represents what the Mage is fighting against. Dark creatures, the Old Families, power. He notices all that as a rebellion.
Also, head over heels in love. But weâll get to that.
The Mage did everything to fix Simon. Instead of, I donât know, being a good dad, he became headmaster, did away with the oral exams, reformed the entry so anyone (Simon) could enter, made Simon his heir, gave Simon his sword and wand, started raiding homes for artifacts to fix a child HE broke and made numpties kidnap Baz, and tried to get Simon away from Watford so Simon wouldnât hear any visitings. Just keep the kid around, man.
Fuck the Mage.
Rainbow putting 3 straight chapters of Bazâs POV is such a good move. She was obsessed with him, Simon was too, and the world deserved as much Baz as we could get.
I will forever love how the millisecond we get Baz reflecting on himself, we get the line âAnd Iâm hopelessly in love with himâ.
Part two:
Itâs totally normal to know exactly the features your sworn enemy has.
Simon didnât hesitate for a second to help Baz. And he was absolutely willing to skip all lessons to find Natashaâs killer.
Iâm talking about both of them. Simon talks about how Baz has âa face for poutingâ and Baz goes on a full monologue on how basic and blue Simonâs eyes are.
The Mage is spending so much time searching for an answer to Simon. But Simon doesnât need an answer, he just needs someone to love him.
Agatha: youâre losing a lot of blood Simon, whatâs your type so I can tell Niamh?
Simon: Baz.
Agatha: Your BLOOD type Simon!
Simon: WellâŚI mean Baz usually knows that sort of stuff, but blood can be a sensitive subject for himâŚâ
*Looks down*
Simon: Is red the right answer?
âIâve wanted to do this for a long time. Almost since we metâŚâ Snow closes his eyes and smiles like heâs trying not to. I smile, too, only because he isnât watching.
For day 17, fluff đ @carryon-countdown
for Bazâs birthday I would like to remind people (in case I have a little more reach than someone who strongly feels this but doesnât post about the books an insane amount as I have) that itâs completely okay if Baz never wants to bite Simon. Itâs literally fine. It is not something that holds back his growth, or that it would be a signs that his acceptance of himself has grown (biting Simon would probably do the oppose, if weâre real). That the âbenefitsâ of biting Simon do not outweigh the negatives for good olâ Baz. Itâs something I have seen a lot as synonymous with character growth, but Bazâs growth doesnât really need to go in that direction, perhaps in the same way nobody needs to drink alcohol to feel like a real adult (otherwise theyâre âkidsâ who still need to grow) if they donât like it (iirc Baz is not into it either, nor does he like himself when heâs drunk⌠âhe doesnât like alcohol because he has seen what it does to Simon,â you might say, and maybe thatâs it â I havenât thought about this enough, but thatâs not an uncommon experience for some people who donât want/donât like to drink) or nobody needs to date or else theyâre in a phase they need to grow of if they donât want to, especially if they donât experience romantic or sexual feelings, etc. Iâm bringing up examples I have seen, you fill in the blanks.
Point is: Baz has a boundary, and itâs a fine boundary to have, actually. âHe would look less pale if he drank humansâ is not a good enough reason to challenge it. Is it affecting his quality of life? Is he weak all the time, on the brink of death or starvation because he doesnât drink humans? ⌠unless Iâm forgetting something heâs literally fine (or as fine as Baz can ever be, when not subjected to Simon Snowâs Tender Ministrations). âHe needs to drink extra ratsââ whatâs a few more if weâre already being nasty here. I just donât see a reason (that canât be challenged) on why he should change his stance there (nor do I consider âit would be hotâ as a valid reason, character-growth-wise). It allows him to live with himself. Self-love and acceptance is not necessarily loving every single part of ourselves 100%⌠part of it is finding ways to be at peace with the parts of ourselves we donât like, ways to live with those parts in ways that wonât result in self-destruction. Isnât that what Baz is doing, when he decides not biting humans is a boundary? (When he sees biting the one he loves the most as a hard line it shouldnât be crossed?)
As much as I love to joke about Simonâs bite kink, I fully agree with this. I love that Baz keeps that boundary to keep him tied to his humanity, and it feels like a way to keep him tied to his mum who would have wanted him tied to his humanity as much as possible whilst still being a vampire.
With all of Bazâs pining for Simon and worry over being a vampire, I bet he never imagined Simon would have a bite kink
I just want to know if Simon ever looked back over his obsession over whether Baz was a vampire and correlated it with his bite kink
Just Simon Snow and Baz Pitch
this is adorable and made my night thank you

WHAT IS THIS
POOR BAZ BEGGING FOR MORSELS OF DEMONSTRATIVE LOVE IN WAYWARD SON WHEN SIMON IS WRITING TRAGIC LOVE POEMS
Simon fucking Snow youâre breaking hearts left and right (yours and Bazâs)
Simon: âIâm just wondering what kind of blind idiot I was to not have noticed you attractive you are when we first met.â
Baz: âWhereas I am neither blind nor an idiot.â
BLUSHES FOR YEARS, NO DECADES
Me reading Wayward Son when Simon starts talking about how heâll break up with Baz
Simon really must never have been taught fire safety because it didnât even occur to him that he should probably do something a bit more proactive than make out with Baz.
Or⌠more likely with him being a hero, he did know and just wanted to kiss Baz, because that was how he was going to save them both.
The Mage when he realises Simon wonât follow his orders any more
âIâll bleed whatever colour you wantâ
Simon to Baz when he realised Baz is just a boy he wants to kiss and not his mortal enemy
