stratt makes me. so upset. she didn’t want to be seen as a monster, the cruel, calculating dictator with zero regard for morality even though that’s what she had to be. she tried so hard to fight it, in small ways, the boat parties, her song, all the art aboard the Hail Mary and the astronaut’s favorite clothes, pictures, and objects. The Earth beanbag, the stupid science shirts, the projection room and the karaoke machine. all the while she was desperately trying to prove she still cared, she could still be human and love and try to be kind where she could. and then when grace said no, forced her hand, it shattered whatever shred of humanity she had left. now she is undoubtedly the monster, the murderer. his last memories of her should have been kind, if it had gone as planned, it would have been as gentle as possible. but he had to go and ruin it, and now she has no hope of rising from that final, ruthless blow, severing her completely from the humanity she sacrificed everything to save.

Y’know how some schools do a teachers vs students kickball game during the last week of class before finals? Yeah i think Ryland Grace goes fucking crazy during that. The thing that really gets me about grace. And something that I also see misinterpreted a lot. Is that he’s not humble. He’s not modest. He doesn’t act the way he does out of humility or not wanting the spotlight. Ostensibly he is a drama queen and wants to be seen and he wants attention. Why do you think he called a man a staggering waste of carbon. Why do you think he’s Like That as a teacher. Why do you think he jumps at the chance to Be Right. He’s not humble he just deep down actually doesn’t believe he’s special. But he also knows that he has deeply specialized knowledge. He just has enough self hatred to genuinely believe that someone else could do what he’s doing without issue. Even though they couldn’t. He knows that in some corner of his brain but he ignores it because when you set your standards low you’re never disappointed if people dont actually like you
