nah, computers use UEFI now, which replaces the BIOS.

It does roughly the same thing (as far as the user cares) so people often call it "the BIOS" but it's actually a different thing

Ah sick, thanks for the clarification! I've seen a lot of support pages on motherboard sites still call it a BIOS update when I go to download one so I assumed BIOS was basically the same.

yeah it keeps getting called that and it's technically incorrect, but that's been the term for long enough that I doubt it's going to change anytime soon

UEFI is like X in that everyone worth listening to just keeps calling them BIOS and Twitter.

UEFI is not like X in that it's not just the BIOS by another, shittier name.

UEFI is the pinnacle of modern computing. It's like BIOS, only it's bigger, fatter, and it sits on your disk like a turd. Someone actually said "yo dawg, I heard u liek OS', so we made a second, smaller OS, to boot up yo' OS!"
