story about a girl who is haunted by her cryptic dreams that have always been a part of her. sort of prophetic or something idk yet. she gets involved with the wrong crowd when she goes to college and they take advantage of her vulnerability and clairvoyance. when she escapes everything is new and terrifying and she wants to be who she was or could have been before everything

her return back home is comforting at first but no one quite knows what it is that happened. they can’t get an answer out of her and are only left to assume.

her family, her old friend, and an old stranger interfere with every aspect of her reappearance. somethings not quite right? she came back.. stranger? after all… she was supposed to be dead, or was it missing, wasn’t she one of those options?

i dont write fic, i barely do fanart but i WILL be sharing my music hcs on rotbfd. — this was inspo from a tiktok i saw and i had to just share my own too !

thinking about the type of music they listen to is my favorite ever because the music world is vast and i think it's silly ^_^ !!! gonna give them silly names and then elaborate. perhaps ill make a playlist, perhaps not, but the visions are there. I listen to almost everything I've listed, on the radio, in passing, and very, very favorably. In short, I will actually listen to just about anything; those are my credentials.

Elsa — hiding behind 'oldies and classics', older sister who definitely had an angsty-almost-emo-goth-phase but her parents said no

jazz (simplified) firm believer that she listens to jazz, studying, background noise when a room is too quiet, or to set a sweet mood. — Billie Holiday, Julie London, Chet Baker, Amy Winehouse, Dusty Springfield, and Nina Simone rock (simplified genre name, think pop, soft, etc) I really dont think I have to elaborate, just imagine this starting as a teen or young girl, shes listening to music on the radio or whatever, and it just clicks — Stevie Nicks/Fleetwood Mac, The Cranberries, The Cardigans, Paramore? rock (PART 2 ) this ones specifically fun for me. Elsa most definitely had teenage angst and dabbled in many other alternative genres. Specifically orchestral and melancholic, I think she had a soft spot for Amy Lee and other women in the rock/alt scene — Evanescence, flyleaf, Paramore (brand new eyes, all we know is falling, definitely loved Hayley Williams ' solo albums). * I think its funny if elsa had considered dyeing her hair to match Hayley Williams and Amy Lee, she also rationally talked herself out of it. They never forget elsas almost-sort of emo phase. honorable mentions !! Sade 'kiss of life', honestly any 90's pop/r&b artists too (like the vision, shes driving or cleaning or literally just singing and she's gorjus), Fiona Apple, joan baez, buffy saint marie and overall a folky sound, NOUVELLE VAGUE, i love them and fully agree she would love the sound, perhaps Mazzy Star/Hope Sandoval and the Warm Inventions, Beach House

Anna — magazine-reading and quiz-taking girl who was definitely influenced by her older sister AND can liven up a room too

pop (simplified) I really dont think I have to explain myself here either, but if Anna were a young girl, preteen, whatever, her introduction to pop music was truly like many others in the broad area of (teen/dance) pop music – One Direction, Katy Perry, Maroon 5, Gwen Stefani * i know she dont play about her boybands AND she was a harry girl. RIP anna, you would've loved big time rush too, kendall wouldve also been ur boy. pop (also simplified) goes without saying, elsa's influence to what anna listens to is present, they're sisters <3 I can see them bonding over these, but wholeheartedly are anna's just as much as her sisters (in some ways) so pop with disco/dance, pop rock/punk and just overall very fun or artsy sounding too — ABBA, Bee Gees, Blondie, Paramore, The Cardigans, shes so love grows where my rosemary goes honorable mentions !! Harry Styles (she was def there for every era), Britney Spears, Spice Girls, Avril lavigne, Olivia Rodrigo, Lady Gagita, Bruno Mars * i know she was there when they disbanded her life was over for a minute. she dont play abt her boys,

Merida — cool girl who swears she's not basic just because it's not 'radio mushy slop' (her artists are still hitting high numbers, AND are 'mushy')

alternative/indie/rock i wont lie, i lowk struggled here, but trust me, its just a gut feeling...this is all about the wind in her hair and a good time — BIG JOANIE, The Cranberries, Gorillaz, No Doubt, Paramore (riot), Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins!!! Hole folk/rock slow paces, lyrical, and somewhat cozy, and if it's not, it's just right to her. its comforting but also just slows down the vibe — Tracy Chapman, Big Joanie, Mazzy Star, Joan Baez, Peter Paul and Mary, honorable mentions !! Florence the Machine (just from what I've seen), Sonic Youth, Joni Mitchell, Alanis Morissette? The Sundays, i think she'd have a soft spot for a sweet-sounding band, especially with association to her friends, maybe? Kate Bush, Imogen Heap. blackbox recorder, broadcast

Rapunzel — sweet and classic, also indie and artsy, everyone can tell what she likes, a gift and a curse.

indie/pop (simplified) Rapunzel, in her bedroom, no matter the age, drawing, painting, crafting, reading, it doesn't matter, she's got the perfect sound to sing along to or zone to. It's all very cutesy and fun, she doesn't care about basic or underground, and even if they make fun, she's having fun — Clairo, Beabadoobee, Carpenters, she’s so come on eileen pop/rock (simplified) i imagine her jumping around or vibing out. These are just her artists, even when they're sentimental, that's it, like there's not much to be said. — The Cardigans, ABBA, The Beatles, Alanis Morissette, too, PARAMORE, SHE LOVED AFTER LAUGHTER!!! perchance also a mazzy stan .. she’s also sooo sixpence the richer so kiss me honorable mentions !! Father John Misty, PinkPantheress, and yes, also a One Direction fan(i dont know the albums but trust ... she and anna twins), 5SOS too(idk if they had eras mb). THE GOOGOODOLLS?? Jack — go ahead, put him on aux, it's a mess, he dont know how to curate, songs always on repeat, nostalgia is NOT a personality trait...

gonna be fr i dont care to categorize, that's how messy it is, and I'm not doing honorable mentions or "maybes" he for sure has it in the million hour ong spotify playlist he's nostalgic, no one can tell if he's being ironic or not. he cant either. All he knows is the song's good (he will say the gang's songs are trash and add them to his playlist later or already has it saved) he definitely would be into 90s, 2000's r&b/pop, and other popular rock bands/singers — Blur, Gorillaz, The Strokes, the white stripes, Justin Timberlake, N'Sync, Pet Shop Boys, Usher, Nelly, and you can't tell me not bc i've put it into the universe so its real (and it makes me laugh). Hiccup — grew up around dad music and now he has the music palette of a divorced dad and stereotypical loser teenage boy music

alternative/rock its not always dad music, I'm generalizing... BUT hes def got a sound he likes. elsa, merida and astrid, imo, bond the most about music they are in a way at different stages or branches of growing up with teenage angst as eldest daughters/only daughters. hiccups cool, they let him in every once in while

jack also raised on his parents' radio. and on that note, he gets along with just about anyone in terms of music, i doubt he's ever picky and he'll shit on hated genres like country but he's tapping along

i’m gonna ramble abt this recent drawing / a quick drabble to set the sceneee idk just to look back on so I don’t forget or I can edit it later

firstly, I love drawing trees like it’s actually so fun ^_^ and I like the colors and I think my only critique is I think I could’ve done better with isadoras placement/pose or maybe a different line width idek it just feels weird but i’m not upset abt it

Following Isadora moving to college in hopes that a change of scenery and environment could help her get away from what’s haunting her, if perhaps dedicating herself to her studies and getting out in the world can help, she finds that it does. sort of, with a lot of mistakes, hardships etc along the way…

a lot can happen in 2 years when she’s on her own and cut off from everyone back home. school, work, internships, more work and strangers. Also, many voices, random sounds, windows slamming open and shut. dreams where she’s back home, where she’s somewhere new, and dying.

There’s only so much that avoidance can do that it all comes back tenfold and she’s determined to do something about it. In a spiral of insomnia she follows the sound one night in the middle of a snowstorm, convinced it’s all a dream like the many others. Without much thought she never noticed where she was headed or how far she must’ve gone on her own away from her apartment.

lost in a daze she wandered into a snowy forest. crunching on the snow, stumbling over roots and with no attempt of tearing herself away from the calling branches, instead just letting them scratch at her. she found herself staring at the sky as she fell back against a large tree. one similar to the trees she loved sitting under back in highschool. She finally felt like going to sleep, and like a blanket the snow put her to rest.

2 more years passed. As her eyes fluttered open as the snow gently kissed her face, she was calmly staring up. the sky, dark and clouded by cold fog didn’t scare her for the first few seconds, and the stars and moon seemed like a sweet welcome. Only then after a heavy breathing she felt the cold air enter her lungs, and leave. Where was she? This wasn’t her apartment and this wasn’t a dream.

Her eyes slowly searched around and when her head turned to the sound of wind that gusted past her as she sat up, she felt the panic shoot into her blood stream. Her hair laced in snow resembled her frost coated skin and dress soon were shaken off as she attempted to stand up from her frozen state. Terrified, all she could do was run as fast and far as she could. The forest appearing like some infinite labyrinth to run from within the fog that made everything seem farther away from her.

The adrenaline and fear worked as a sedative for the ache in her lungs and feet as she continued to run for what felt like eternity only to be cut short as she tripped over a root. she stared at the back of her hand now bitten from the cold, she felt her hair working as a blanket to her body and her once clean nightgown that now was stained with dirt and hardening frost.

her eyes moved forward and saw a distant flickering of a lamppost, she was close to something now, she just had to keep running. She climbed back up with the support of the tree and stared at its frosty coat shimmering from the moonlight. If this were under different circumstances maybe she would’ve stopped and stared in awe at the entire forest, admired the details that nature provided. she would’ve waked peacefully and in shoes preferably, a coat too. Not now though, she ran with pain in her joints until she reached an empty trail, a familiar one that she would slowly walk the path.

quietly she walked, now the adrenaline gone and in a tired state she didn’t care about the cold, she didn’t care to look down if she was even bleeding. she was going to make it back to her apartment and sort out this nightmare. she would wake up in her bed and all this was actually just a dream, like the many that she had to fall back asleep to in order to wake back up.

Except, strangely, her apartment door within the complex was vandalized in what she had no time to decipher and now had been overgrown with vines and weeds. She turned the knob hoping that this lucid dream would work in her favor and to her sleepless delight, it did. she froze at the sight, the room remained with only the second hand furniture she picked up off garage sales or donations. The bed and its frame rotted away and the closet and cupboards left wide open or half way shut with a lingering disappointment. It was clearly abandoned. she was dreaming, she had to have been. she knew she went to sleep in her room, and she was going to wake up any minute now, this wasn’t real.

the morning stars rays peeked through the window shades and she would not wake up when it shined directly into her iris.

As she wandered away droplets followed and a puddle formed at her feet of melting snow as she stayed in place glaring at her reflection in the old bathroom mirror. The shattered caricature of herself stared right back with much longer hair, dark shadows under her eyes, she was desaturated and dirty from the nights journey. How long had it been and what was she supposed to do. she shouldn’t even be alive if she was truly in the woods for whatever time she spent there.

It’s honestly so endearing and inspiring to see people creating their own characters and becoming obsessed with them lol

Especially right now when most media tend to be frustrating because no care is poured into it so a lot of stories and characters end up with a lot of untouched potential! So, seeing people having full control over what they want to see, developing their own art style and gushing about stuff that was actually made with love and therefore satisfies them is so cool!!

I myself have a LOT of OC ideas but I don’t really know where to start with any of them! 😭

I AGREE I follow so many OC artists on instagram just because their stories are interesting or the designs are cool. I don’t really mind if stories are simple and have a main story or goes on for forever it’s all just like playing dolls

I also have so many OC ideas and i’ve had to narrow it down over the years but honestly, just start where you think sets the ball rolling. like for me, even though my ocs have known eachother since highschool their story or main premise starts when they’re 22. nothing has to be linear and honestly just go where the heart wants it 🫶🏼❕❕

sister doodles turned to family trees

almost everything I do is on purpose and serves a purpose… or atleast a small little easter eggs. this is a very long break down of most if not all details so be warned THIS IS A LOT i’ve been doing this draft for a bit now !!!!!!

on another post i’ll talk about their names quickly because this is too long already…

and later on i’ll maybe do a study or breakdown of their fashion because that is also so fun to me and I think it’ll be interesting to elaborate on in terms of personality, class(?) and idk …

santos family

design wise, santos family is short in comparison to the reyes family, all 2 inches apart 🤫 WHICH is on purpose too. I would’ve done odd numbers but even seems to just suit them for some reason.

ALSO cesar is the only water sign (scorpio) while everyone else is an air sign (selena-aquarius, teresa-libra, isadora, aquarius, elias-gemini), . also on purpose sort of. I wanted the siblings to be equally apart in months each 4 months in distance, making them one of each air signs.

the dates are also on purpose. specifically cesar getting angel numbers 11/11 because of luck and selene also getting 2/2 — they’re actually contradictory for eachother. cesar’s birthdate is like selenes wish (which was to open her own shop, that he helped her with) while selenes birthdate is like cesar’s other half in being a pair.

isadoras date adds to 13, unlucky (or lucky to some). elias adds to 7, lucky. and teresa is 26 which when cut in half for a balance, is 13. the debate of 13 being lucky or unlucky is a balance that cancels each other out.

Onto other features, hair is also a noticeable quality for them. curly to wavy hair that’s very full because tbhness I just really like hair and it’s so fun keeping round and swirly shapes in their designs as a family.

I love their noses and eyes, and I wanted to really make them appear more on the sad, stressed or confused look. which isn’t as noticeable bc I opted for a more still and relaxed look. so all that is noticeable is that they’re eyes are downturned and rounder instead of sharp. again, round and short is also noticeable in their noses too, with his they almost slope down and end, or slightly curve at the end. lips are pouty like selena, and almost like a frown like cesar’s and selenes (he hides it w his stache 🙂‍↕️).

I like to give every character an animal they may represent or remind me of in some way (not always because of physical qualities, but you can see it sometimes) and so i’ll start;

Cesar is a raven. flocking in pairs which reflects him getting with selena and sticking by her goals. ravens being able to mimic is so him and knowing how to talk to people for business, like mirroring them.

Selena is a crow. able to remember faces really well and she is prone to grudges. crows fly in groups and selena is very family/collective oriented. (she has the bigger family on her side that gives her that mindset)

Teresa Ximena is a horse. (I love horses). sort of like a show horse, or a competition horse, after all shes very competitive in what she’s best at. also how horses clomp around, makes me think of her dancing and confidence. the free spirited nature that horses have also remind me of her as she never let the title of oldest daughter dictate her.

Isadora Luna is a sheep. the whole “black sheep” thing. Also what sheep are metaphors for, and while it matches her I also like the contradictions of her just not fitting in with other sheep/people. a big thing is seeking shelter/safety and being sensitive to changes in her spaces or environment.

Elias Carlos is a goat. similar to isadora in a way, but more socially intelligent, and like goats he can read people’s emotions really well. it comes easier for him even if he’s shy and as a result he will always prefer a group to be social in.

selena begins having children with cesar when she turns 20, just sort of following that pattern every 5 years. that means the only time either sibling was in school together was in elementary, and that’s only 2 siblings at a time, (kindergarten-1st while one was in 4th-5th. isadora is the only one to experience sharing that with her siblings twice.) that thing where each sibling has a diff version of parents is very evident with them, and the 5 years makes a difference because of the shop gaining more attention as time passes,

reyes family

The reyes family is taller in comparison to the santos family, taller and appearing thinner or straight cut, in general LESS rounded out

the reyes family’s zodiac signs are oppisite to the santos family. Romeo-aries-fire, Paloma-virgo-earth, vincent-capricorn-earth, despite being born a few minutes apart and on different days, marisol and augustine-leo-fire, and fiona-taurus-earth.

(santos: 1 water 4 air, reyes: 3 fire 3 earth—AND of each)

the dates. Paloma and romeo’s birth dates complete their respective months, 9+21=30 days in march and romeo is 3+28=31 days in march.

Vincent being born on 12/28 is honestly just because in mexico that’s like april fools day and I think that’s silly for him. also being born right in between christmas and new years? thats absurd, a really big joke for him. also the same as his dad with 28, which btw, him and his dad are iffy even though they’re very alike, down to the date (minus number, but fire and earth too like the parallels guys the PARALLELS..)

the twins being born on different days makes their names also match, and marking them as the end of july, (“mar y sol”) and beginning of august (augustine). I could’ve named her julia, BUT I really eff with beachy-sunny name.

fiona’s birthday adds to 8, I like the number 8. but also, 5/3=1.6, she’s one out of 6 in her family, being that she’s the 6th one. number fun 🤗

now to other features, back to their hair. its thick, and pokes out at the ends no matter what. which is why it remains short. too much thick hair that I don’t think either one in that family cares to manage the way the other family does. very unified or frayed and messyish.

freckles and beauty marks scattered around some of them from paloma’s side of the family. romeo like many in the family have passed down streaks of strays of gray silvery hair, vincent so happened to have it early on, and so far none of his siblings are showing. he used to dye them, but after it began to show on his brow and lashes he stopped trying. sometime around 17-18

their noses and eyes my favs as said before. longer faces, longer noses and if it weren’t for the side profile romeo’s widened nose would be more obvious in comparison to paloma’s narrower nose. their eyes are all slightly longer and more narrow. sort of the illusion of mona lisa going on in that family. don’t know if their annoyed or smiling, so it appears sort of like a taunt to me. a slight smile on each of them. thinner lips and if it was a front view, you’d see that their lips are longer than santos. slender faces, cheekbones, and overall, having a more youthful look to them either a boyish look or growing into appearances look.

now the critters they remind me off

Romeo Valentin is a great dane. look scary or too serious, boring even, or simple. but they are very affectionate and known to be family dogs. typically good with children and families, which romeo is, he may have missed it though with vincent, oops.

Paloma Pilar is a collie (she is not a dove despite her name!!) playful and very beautiful hair. honestly appearance wise, she just looks it. affectionate and known to also love children. she would’ve had more too if it weren’t for her and romeo’s careers getting in the way. and after having vincent when they thought they were ready, they realized they should’ve waited more and so they did, and then they waited again. but it’s okay because it all worked out, sort of.

Vincente Valentin is a belgian shepherd dog. I used to want to see him as a wolf, which btw, are known to be friendly with ravens but are not at all friendly to sheep and while I like contradiction, it’s a bit too mehhh. so a dog that appears like a wolf is more accurate, and even symbolic. he is very protective especially over his siblings and many others, and may appear intimidating and often hes misinterpreted by his appearances.

Marisol Miranda is a budgie bird. colorful and chatty. a bit flighty too, tendency to be here and there. but overall very fun to have around when a room feels too quiet. I like to imagine it like a bird fluttering in and around. ME i’m terrified of birds but I think they’re so pretty and cute and nice.

Augustine Arturo is a deer. a bit awkward, but agile, quick and very easily nervous despite his “too cool” appearance, a calming and yet also chaotic personality like his twin who is also chaotic, but an easy person to be around.

Fiona Flor is a ferret. playful, a bit messy too. she’s just a child in the current place of the story. but as she gets older, and taller, it is sort of like she forgets how tall she is and is just as clumsy. curious too, as if always in a frenzy and being she’s the youngest, no one minds because it’s a youthful presence.

because of the career paths they chose, romeo and paloma decided to wait for years to have children after marriage, and when they had vincent, they realized they couldn’t pay much attention so he was handed around to his grandparents often times. missing out on many things in his early years but it’s fine. Vincent liked his grandparents a lot. especially on his dads side. as they waited for work to slowly cool down they had the twins, and could focus on them a lot more, and then finally decided to have fiona. Again, if it weren’t for the demanding careers, and what it took to get there, they’d have loved to have more kids and would’ve gone for it. It’s okay though, they have plenty of not more extended family. besides, they gave their children really, really well lives with their jobs…
