proud victim of the tumblr accent. it's fading out of public consciousness as the tik tok accent takes precedence; a linguistic evolution that makes the tumblr accent 85% funnier to unsuspecting civilians. it's like releasing a disease on a non-inoculated population. coughing baby versus hydrogen bomb.
They had not been seen together in the museum galleries for quite a while. Monet’s “Women with Umbrellas” are once again side by side in the Impressionist gallery.
AND THEN THEY LIVED HAPPILY EVER AFTER THE END!!!!
ok every time this post comes by i resist geeking out on it but NO LONGER so these women are probably the same woman and that woman is monet’s wife camille doncieux. he painted her a LOT. but fun fact: monet had this asshole friend named ernest hochede, and ernest racked up some debts, and like an asshole he basically just fled the country, leaving his wife alice and their six kiddos behind. monet immediately got alice and kids to move in with him, camille, and their two kids. at this point, monet, alice, and camille became my favorite probably historic poly threesome. they lived together, taking care of the kids. they were so poor that alice and camille took turns wearing the nice dress so they could go out with monet. when camille got uterine cancer and began dying, alice helped monet cope and took care of things while he painted camille over and over. when camille died, alice is the reason monet was able to survive. when ernest finally died, monet and alice married, and remained married until alice died. at that point, blanche, the oldest daughter, took care of monet until he died. anyway, the point is, the umbrella ladies are probably the same ladies, but as far as i’m concerned, there WAS a historically queer poly family in that household and they were wonderful.
this is a fucking joy
it's so funny how the mcu has so closely replicated the comics fan experience of like, "don't worry about like the plots. the things happening are like 90% really stupid, you just have to accept that. the meat is in the character writing. which is unfortunately also bad."
"and in order for half of it to make sense you had to have gotten into it many years ago and kept up with the homework"
"Blorbo is my favorite character! He has 89,324 appearances spanning decades!"
"Great! What do you recommend?"
"One writer in mid-2014 had like, half a plot that was great before it was handed off to someone who hated him and possibly had a vendetta against the art director. But man, a great 2-3 months of real character stuff there."
I miss you. Come to me. It's been too long... I need you. I'm struggling.
INTERVIEW WITH THE VAMPIRE 01.01 | "In Throes of Increasing Wonder…"
THE VAMPIRE LESTAT 03.01 | "Detroit"
one day, i hope to be moved from your downloads folder into somewhere more deliberate
Of course the way the show handles the past in this season is different than it was in IwtV. Louis wanted to revisit his past - he wanted to reminisce about life with Claudia and Lestat in New Orleans, and he wanted to plumb the depths of his memory to understand who he is in the present. He had questions that only revisiting the past could answer.
Lestat does not want to return to or reminisce about the past. His memories are unwelcome, and what they tell him about who he is and what has made him brings only pain. He does not want to question or to get answers. So he rushes through the past and tries to dull his pain in the frantic hedonism of the present.
going to start saying "it's ok i have the blood of akasha in me" when faced with any kind of problem at all
I could have hung it up there, too, I guess. But we sounded really good in Detroit, and there were another thousand beautifully unwell to serve in Ohio. And she had come a great distance to comfort me.
THE VAMPIRE LESTAT 03.02 | "Toledo"
Lestat in episode 1: sex isn't some torturous obligatory act it's fun it's literally fun I'm having fun ITS FUN
Gabrielle in episode 2: Are you having lots of sex? Do you like it?
Lestat: Hey look at that pigeon over there. Sorry did you ask me a question?
she is such a beautiful petite princess when at her worst. i hope, she only goes downhill
And I grew hard by example.
Well at least you're listening. I sit here thinking, "light yourself on fire, see if he would notice...."
Between Lestat's POV of Claudia's turning, being conflicted when he hears his nieces and nephews screaming, and the upcoming promo of Nicki screaming to be turned, I think the show is drawing a pretty clear underline on the idea "Lestat will do things he knows are a Bad Idea (and that he is personally not comfortable with) if it means his loved ones will stay...and then they don't stay anyway"
Armand?
Awesome yeah I love that Lestat just casually asks Christine if he has to fuck a stranger to get out of a legal situation haha that’s a funny throwaway line and not something I’ll be thinking about for the next 5-10 weeks hahaha so hilarious hahahahhahaha
gabriella sending out lestat to kill the wolves hoping and expecting that they would kill him isn’t an idea that had occurred to me before but i’ve been rotating it around in my head ever since. it simultaneously being an act of fucked up care – granting him the final escape from their family – and her manipulating him into a a situation that risks his life and also robs him of the only comfort (his dog) he had outside of her. all this wrapped up in her framing killing the wolves as an act of proper manhood and thus elevating lestat into the role of a husband substitute. it’s such a messy situation that really lays the groundwork for how weird and entangled their relationship is about to get
