mr-j-moore:
Jay graciously took the cup, sipped and smiled. “Two sugars? You remembered.” He beamed happily. Then, he raised his finger over the cup and made a circular motion over the liquid. It began to stir slowly in the cup as he spoke with Larrisa.
He gave a small chuckle at her comment and crossed his arms over his chest. “Whatever happened to tenpin bowling?” He asked with a cheeky grin. “Now, I know there is nothing that can slow you down Larrisa. You could never disappoint me. Well, perhaps if you forget my birthday.” He winked.
Jaheem grinned at her compliment, it was nice to be back in truth. Although, he did worry about his parents, he knew they would be okay. Topher was looking after the couple and while his older brother may not be as clever as he was, he had just as much love in his heart. “Now, keep talking like that and I’m going to have to come over there and hug you.” He warned warmly.
“Of course I did, what kind of friend do you take me for?” She placed a hand on her chest--feigning offense. “But if you stayed in New Orleans for a bit longer things might have started to get blurry.” Taking a drink of her own coffee, she watched the small display of magic. While she had gotten better at containing her outward excitement, it was still fascinating to see magic being used so casually. “Did the trip go well?”
“I couldn’t tell you the last time I did that.” It seemed like her life had become a steady schedule of work, home, work---very little room for play. Outside of the occasional trip to Central Park with Grace, anyway. “If you continue to be that easy to impress, I’ll be sure to tone it down on the birthday present this year too.”
“You say that like it would be an awful thing.” She replied, taking another small drink of her coffee, shoulders rising and falling in a shrug. “Besides, you’re overdue for one. Not that I’m keeping tabs or anything.”
