Who do I adore? Garnet from Steven Universe! What else do I adore? Bright, textured, cropped sweaters!
What do I love a little less….? This kind of intarsia. But it was a wonderful challenge. I spent most of the summer working on this, but I’ve been wearing it a lot more lately (now that there’s some snow on the ground!). There were definitely highs and lows on this project, and I don’t plan on making something this involved for a while, but now that I know I can…I’m sure I’ll come back to this kind of design someday.
Everything was designed by me, for my measurements. I chart my colorwork in Excel (simple but effective!). Mostly in the round & knit in seed stitch, with exception of the 1x1 ribbing and the stockinette on the sleeves. I used Knitpicks Brava in worsted for almost everything, though the bright magenta shade is a Loops and Threads (Michaels) color. It machine washes incredibly well and feels so soft!
The finished shawl! I’m leaving in 5 minutes to deliver it. I’m so, so happy with it! I changed a lot about the color changes, which gives it a more watercolor, blended look. DM me for details!
If you’re trying to learn how to knit or crochet imo you should start with a large gauge yarn and try baby blankets. Large yarn goes really quick so you don’t lose your patience, and straight rows are a lot simpler than crocheting in the round. Plus, if it turns out poorly (and it will, the first like 10 things you make will be bad, and that’s ok) you can donate them to animal shelters. Shelters are ALWAYS looking for blankets, and cats don’t care if your edges are hell. Puppies don’t know if your blanket comes out more like a trapezoid. They don’t even know what trapezoids are!!
I will master this skill and have handmade socks
beautiful work …

always remember: it doesn’t matter how good you are as a knitter nor how long you’ve been knitting nor how many times you’ve had to start a project over, molly weasley would be very proud of you and your handmade knits
Went to an actual knitting group tonight. Had a lot of fun and got delicious falafel after. My #hediyeshawl is coming along nicely. Obviously won’t be down for #MDSW! But that’s okay. #knitting #knittersofinstagram
Today’s featured designer is Olga Buraya-Kefelian, Ravelry username olgajazzy, website at olgajazzy.com/. A lot of the time, I get frustrated searching for patterns. I’m always looking for something different, something that stands out. So much of the patterns out there follow the same basic formats of silhouettes and usage of stitch patterns. It’s nice to find someone who plays more with those things. It makes me happy.

I have to say I wasn’t crazy about the colors at first but I’m trying to use up my yarn stash and I really like it now
Do you have a pattern for this? I love it!
Pattern is here on Ravelry :) I altered my starting square a bit though
