@shamefilledsnzblog The Weather Turns found here. I love a sopping wet lighthouse man and this fic has inspired me to want to revisit my the Fal/lout universe and do a fic of some Far Harbor radioactive seaside fisherman misery. Maybe one day. Nonetheless, great read, lovely pathetically wet energy on Crawford with him being my type of charming for sure.

@boxofmushy Two for One and Done found here. I have been lurking on a Fallen London priest OC for way too long and again, this fic really makes me want to do something with the gremlin in my brain because it was so good. The way the two characters handle their newfound situation in the end is great, I will leave you to read it if you haven't yet!

@north-east-sf The Discipline of Falling Apart found here (part one). I just love these characters and the dynamic, plus with 15 parts right now it definitely gives you some satisfaction to read. Lovely read, really good.

@just-a-nervous-bean this this this here of Maud having her book club and the whole caretaking plus Maud herself feeling a bit off is all very very good. Maud and Biddley are both so sweet and who doesn't love a bit of 1920s fiction?

And I know it was supposed to be 1-5 BUT honorary mention for all things from @gay-for-the-snz who has given me nothing but delicious food for the Fallen London universe we are both so fond of. Thank you, delicious friend!

Personally, I have seen a lot of great MxF fics and a lot of great MxM fics but I would love suggestions for FxF fics in the community to go read as well!

It was so hard not to stuff this list with all of @witchysniffles’s amazing work. I feel like we are brain twins when it comes to A/AA and the things we enjoy seeing in fic, and every single fic on her list is a banger and a half. Fortunately there are some other incredible authors and stories on tumblr that made it easy to diversify.

Presenting my (all female!) recs, in no particular order:

A Little Bit of Help by @witchysniffles

I definitely imprinted hard on this one lol. It was one of the first canon-based AAA snzfic I read after the finale and I could not believe my luck at how well-written and perfectly in-character it was! I love how frustrated Agatha gets when she can’t sneeze and how casually Rio offers to help. The Road was full of all kinds of interesting plant life so it was fun to see it messing with her when she was already feeling so vulnerable.

Adult Swim by @witchysniffles

One of the hottest fic I have ever read, hands down. I imagine sneezing is the easiest thing in the world for Rio so to see her struggling (and on purpose!) altered my brain chemistry. 🫠 And with kink!Agatha in the mix, she wasn’t the only one suffering. 🤭 Culminates in smoking hot pool sex and I loved the little bonus sneezes from Agatha at the end.

It’s On The House by @capedcaretaker

One of my favorite pieces from another AAA fic-writing powerhouse. I love Rio flirting lightly with the bartender while being a messy gremlin of a woman just sneezing all over the place. Agatha pining from afar and pretending she isn’t affected by the presence of her ex at the bar is so hot. The spellings and descriptions are phenomenal as is the angst and yearning peppered throughout.

Force of Nature series by @blooming-trees

If you haven’t read this series then you are missing out, big time. Chanel does an incredible job balancing humor, angst, and character development with lots and LOTS of sneezing. It always blows my mind that English is not her first language because she’s one of the best writers I know. Force of Nature is just an incredible work of snzart and Evelyn is truly a force to be reckoned with.

Here Comes the Sun by @heleniumx

Photic!Scully!!! Need I say more? I mean, I will, but that was all I needed to dive right into this fic. Leni writes these two so perfectly in character everytime that I can hear them speaking the dialogue in my head. I love her decision to make Scully a consistent triple sneezer and how endeared Mulder is by the whole situation. His little quips and emphatic “gesundheits” are so perfect. I love how he starts to pick up on the pattern but it’s ultimately Scully who reveals the cause of her affliction.

Someone who always sneezes exactly 1.5 times. By that, I mean when they sneeze, a false start always follows after it.

This person has never fully experienced the relief of a sneeze because the hitching that follows puts them on edge again, only to fizzle out. It leaves them a ticklish mess for the next minute, and it’s enough to stun them.

Maybe it’s gotten to the point where their friends hurry to help them sneeze. Or maybe they crack jokes instead—telling them that second sneeze is a lost cause.

And it’s worse because in very rare cases, that elusive second sneeze does come out, and it’s incredibly rewarding. It’s what has them desperately trying to encourage the second sneeze whenever the first happens.

Maybe a significant other says they “just have a shy nose”(Which, aside, pair a character with a stoic or walled-off personality with a “shy nose” and it’s perfect).

I sleep on "developing a fever DURING something important" too much. It's not a groundbreaking concept or anything I just tend to focus on The Character developing a fever before something, I think. The drama of pushing through, and all.

But y'know. Character feeling completely fine and normal all day, just nothing off whatsoever, and then they deteriorate so quickly in like an hour flat that people notice. Just being absolutely hit like a truck in the middle of the day when they are already in the process of doing something very important. Feeling compelled to just see that task through because they're already in it. They felt completely fine this morning. What gives?

mostly just which one you prefer being the sick vs caretaker/concerned one lol. but also the dynamic!! which you can detail in the notes/rb or whichever, bc that one's more specific and my poll's a bit basic.

for me I can do both. like they both have their time & place just depends on the mood I'm in lol. BUT, if I had to pick one, I think it would be the supernatty being the snz subject. I'm just too feral for a powerful being being brought down by smth so trivial (or would be seen as trivial in comparison to everything else they've experienced in their life and what they're capable of). ahh... I just love it.

A Poké/mon trainer going to face the grass gym but anticipating their horrendous spring allergies getting triggered, so of course they take their meds… but meds can only do so much against prolonged exposure to superpowered creatures giving it their all with constant barrages of plant and pollen-based moves designed to be potent and do harm. Not even through direct crossfire, the aromas and irritants soon fill the stadium, leaving the poor the trainer hitching and sneezing through their attack commands, to the point where their own Mons can no longer follow, because “Umbreon! hh.. u-use… shaAAD-GHSHHU!!” is not exactly a coherent command

alien plant that tends to set root inside people's sinuses. it likes the damp and warmth! being afflicted with this parasitic plant is treated similarly to a common cold, since it's generally harmless but the irritation tends to cause a runny nose and sneezing. it can be pulled out once leaves start poking out of the nostrils, but it's quite painful and generally recommended to wait until it releases on its own upon maturing. and of course some poor fuckers are allergic to it <3

It's already so possible to wake up from a normal nap on a normal day feeling like you've been drugged and had your kidneys stolen, so like....... The Character sick or injured just trying to rest and waking up feeling 10x worse for absolutely no good reason
