Guy makes a really stupid decision and gets in a car accident -> no real damage from accident but insurance goes up -> starts beating himself up over his stupid decision -> gets depressed -> starts to realize he's single and had crash been worse he'd die alone -> realizes he's never had a relationship or even a crush and starts wondering what he'd want out of a relationship -> starts to realize he doesn't really like girls so he thinks he must be gay -> realizes he likes girls and boys about the same amount, so he must be bi -> later realizes that "same amount" is none at all -> he's ace

I love when I’m reading a fic and it’s evident that the author has a favourite word/phrase/metaphor they like to use because it’s used again and again.

As a writer, I worry that people will find it annoying when I do this but as a reader I find it so endearing, it’s like walking into someone’s bedroom and its immediately obvious what they’re favourite colour is.

Actually, no, I don't think that friendships dropping like flies in your late 20s and early 30s because no one has time for that between overwork and family obligations and marriage and kids and partners and the ritual of the time slayer is normal and ok. No I don't think deep conversations and spontaneous adventures being replaced with a tired coffee every six months is a normal part of growing up. I don't think that emotional intimacy and soul bonds disintegrating in the face of practical inconvenience is a fact of life. I think that means something is deeply deeply wrong with our society and I will never forgive it for the friends I've lost

I'm very fond of Project Steve.

It was created in 2003 as a counter-list to the creationist Answers in Genesis organization's "list of scientists that doubt evolution".

To get on the Project Steve list you need to:

Be an accredited scientist

Sign a statement affirming the well-substantiated fact of evolution and common ancestry, and decrying creationism as pseudoscience that should never be taught in schools

Be named some variation of Steve (like Steven, Stephen, Stephanie, Esteban, etc.)

It was named in honor of evolutionary biologist and popular science writer Stephen Jay Gould.

As of today, it lists over 1500 Steves, which is a lot more than any creationist list.
